I have subscribed to several cruise TH-cam sites and this by far is my favorite. You two are so very honest about your subjects and I really value that. We are heading to the Mediterranean on Royal Caribbean, Sept. of 2018, and I'm trying to gather all the information I can about what to do at each port. If you have any subscribers that have taken this cruise I'd love to hear from them and get there take on how the cruise was. We live in Portland, Oregon and will be traveling with our friends from Scotland and England. We do this every other year and we are all looking forward to our next adventure. Keep up the good work, I look forward to your posts and all the interesting information you provide.

We have previously cruised the Mediterranean and I'm sure other cruisers can also advise and offer tips. Which ports are you visiting?
Thanks for your quick response! We'll be stopping at Santorini, Mykonos, Athens, Naples and a couple others I can't think of right off the top of my head. I know we wanted to go to Ephesus, but since they aren't offering that this year I'm thinking they won't offer it next year either. We always travel Royal but last year we tried Norwegian because Royal didn't offer the itinerary we wanted. We sailed from Boston to Quebec and I must say, after Royal I was a bit disappointed with Norwegian. Any help with excursions or don't miss tours would be greatly appreciated.
Hey, Bonnie. That sounds like a fantastic cruise! Unfortunately, we have not visited the ports you have mentioned yet. Our cruise was more western Mediterranean ports. We are however doing a similar itinerary later this year with MSC. I'm sure some of our subscribers can help and I can put a call out on social media as i would also be interested to know!
I looked at the MSC cruises and they just didn't have the itinerary we wanted. You'll definitely have to do a vlog on how your first MSC went. Thanks for putting my quest out to your social media. I'm sure someone has been on that cruise and can give us some help. BTW, it is the Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas we'll be on.

Thank you as one of those old people....51 years young/old I am. Hubby is 61...we are excited to go on our first cruise this January, 2019. I am trying to find your old videos as I love them all. The reason we have never cruised before is because folks talked us out of it...regimented, close quarters, nothing to do, finally stopped listening.
Love you guys! Great video for the first thing in the morning. You are so right. I'm 58 years young and I remember the first time I got hooked on cruising- it was in the 1970"s watching The Love Boat. Since then I always hoped I'd cruise and I have. There are just so many options on thiese FLOATING HOTELS that you will not get bored. When my husband and I cruise back to the same islands we just make sure that the excursions we take are different from the time before. As for the midnight buffets that used to be they no longer exist. You can just grab something light late in the evening. It's all up to you. If you want to pig out then go for it. There's always the gym or just walking around the ship. As for motion sickness, we always take GINGER TABLETS with us in case we need it. It always works. A glass of wine helps too. Hehehee. Anyway as I've said before in past comments,we're going on Harmony of the Seas this coming Saturday and I can't tell you how excited we are. Thanks Beth for your comment. We are so excited for you going on Harmony of the Seas. You must be counting down the hours and minutes now! You will have to let us know how your trip goes. Late night snacks are out favourite things, we always say we are full but then 20 minutes late we will be getting a bedtime snack! We also think wine helps most situations! hahaha :-D

Having only just done my first cruise last month I was worried about the weight gain, but I didn't starve myself, ate some wonderful food and I only put 3.5lbs on, was expecting much more than that, I think doing a mile or two walking around the running track a day helped...woo-hoo!! Secondly, rough days at sea, I did have a rough day and evening when the ship was rocking but I did realise something. If you liked your drinks, like I did on the cruise, you could get quiet merry and no one would notice because no matter how sober you were you weren't able to walk in a straight line so a drunken person just blended in with the rest of the crowd.
you both had me in tears from laughing. I have heard a lot of those same things about the cruise life, the one I have heard the most is: there is nothing to do on the cruise but drink and lay by the pool my reply is "yeah and the problem with that is?" the other comment I hear is " I don't want to be stuck on the ship, I want my freedom to move around and come and go whenever I want" my reply: " you're not confined to your cabin/room they do allow you out during the daytime" then I give the eyeroll LOL
Good video! I thought I would hate cruises most of my life. Went on my first at age 52 in 2012 and have been on 11 now. We cruised five weeks last year and have 31 days booked this year so far, it is the best! We've found you can get in the middle of the hustle and bustle or find a quiet sunny place to read on every ship we've been on. NCL is our favorite and the new loyalty program is the best in the industry IMO.
I have recently discovered you two. I really enjoy watching you both. You both seem lovely and real.
Great video. It is spot on and I have heard people use every one of these reasons for not going on cruises and all I say is that I disagree with all of them. The food is amazing and there is plenty to do or places to do nothing at all. I did not check the 2nd cruise but the 1st one I only gained a pound. I think if you take a few stairs and go for a short walk every day you burn off the calories.

You guys are great. So funny but also give out a lot of useful info. This is the second video of yours I watched. If you do regular cruising please keep up the videos. I am planning to take my first cruise ever next year. I will be 61 then, however inside I am early thirties forever. I think the stereotypes you have mentioned are volunteered by people who have never been on a cruise in their life. I am really excited about my first cruise and am definitely going to get a balcony. I am very easily pleased and do not get bored. Simple things please me and I am just looking forward to that first morning when I wake up and have a good cup of coffee on my balcony surrounded by the ocean. Agree with you re inside cabins. I have done a lot of research and an inside cabin would make me feel claustrophobic. I could tolerate for a very short cruise of a few days but my first ever cruise I want a two week cruise, probably Spain and Italy. I just love your style guys :) PS Olly looked a little bemused but he sure is a cutie :) PS although I will keep fit I really do not care if I put on weight on my cruise. After all I have to sample all the food don't I :) Holidays are not for being "regimented". Holidays are for relaxing and having fun and food is fun :) PPS I just realised you did a review of Britannia which I was not keen on. Perhaps my view was unfair just you did seem over critical. I would be interested to know if you have been on the Aurora or the Arcadia with P & O? These are my first choices :)

I couldn't agree with you more about the simple things. Our favourite thing is having a drink on the balcony after getting ready for the evening and before dinner. Even more so when it is sunset!
Our first cruise we were weight conscious, going to the gym every day. Since then, we don't really care and we actually find the gym until our last day!
We have not been on the Aurora or Arcadia. We have heard good things about these ships and they seem to get a better reception than the Britannia.

The only down side is the price of the alcohol and alcohol packages, otherwise, you can be as active or inactive as you like, the food is good, formal nights are tops, service is great!

ocean liner is to cruise ship as combat fatigue is to PTSD. They mean the same thing in general, just one term is older than the other

The first stereotype is holland America
I might have high expectations because my Parents have only ever taken me to five star hotels really, but in December 2016 we went on the allure of the seas ( my parents we're Against it) because a large number of my extended family were attending. Maybe it's just the size of the ship and the cruise line but all of us found the food to be awful.
Everything was bland, meat was old, food was greasy and never tasted that good. Nothing really tasted exceptionally bad, but did not taste good. We mainly ate in coastal kitchen (4 nights) but also ate in a few specialty restaurants (we tried 5 of them) and also 2 nights in the main dining room. Everything tasted the same, the poor quality was universal across the ship. The cheap steak was just as good in the main dining room as coastal kitchen ( or may I say just as bad).
Do you agree that royal Caribbean have bad food? Was I unlucky ? Is it due to the size of the ship? Are my expectations/standards too high? What do you think?
