This is one lifetime I'd like to taste to the fullest. I'm gonna lease my place in VA and move to where you are. Soooo nice. Keep doing what you do. I am testament to how you inspire others. 😅😅😅

Guys as an American that lived in the Philippines (back in San Francisco now) I highly recommend it. Live in either BGC or Makati (Legaspi village or Saucedo village). You may never return to the states once you become a part of their culture 😊 which is a warm and welcoming one.
Learn some Tagalog (even if everyone there actually speaks English) as a form of respect and assimilation. It goes a long way for making life long friendships with the Pinoys (aka: Filipinos).

Everybody loves Makati and BGC. They love the food and all the provinces offer differnt kinds of food. Most of the businesses there are locally and foreign owned mostly british, japanese, chinese invested in those hotels. Manila is one of the most beautiful city in the world. Tons of huge malls, hotels, condos, restaurants. U can feel the vibes of New York and San Francisco there in Manila but more big hotels and malls in the Philippines.

This is the kind of Ayala mall AyalaLand is right now building in ILOILO CITY at the Ilollo Ayala Atria Park, kind of a combination of Greenbelt and the BGC, more of the BGC vibe. Ilonggos love their gardens, which is why Iloilo is filled with gardens everywhere, and its garden-to-people density is almost within the same ratio as that of Singapore, at 85percent, which means that 85percent of ILOILO residents have access to a nearby park or plaza. AyalaLand hit it right when it planned this garden-laden Ayala mall in Iloilo. To be called AYALA ILOILO ATRIA GARDEN MALL, everybody's eagerly anticipating this beautiful new development in ILOILO CITY.

Grew up in Makati till college. I must say, it's the only city in the Philippines I'm comfortable in. Ayala Avenue at Christmas was magical as a kid. Spent my grade/highschool days hanging out with cousins, in Glorietta and Greenbelt, Landmark, Rustan's. Then Salcedo Market, Legazpi, Rockwell, Jupiter Street in Bel-Air, Manila Pen, Makati Shang, the clubs around Makati. Starbucks 6750 was the first one, since the 90s.. the chill days. I didn't know Filling station is popular now.. we used to go there to grab a bite after clubbing lol! I never knew P. Burgos was a red light district, not until I was in college. I really didn't like it when my friends would drag me outside Makati.
Maybe I'm being sentimental, but it's the best city in PH, hands down. Thanks for taking us on a walking tour, Zane. Nostalgic, but a lot of establishments that used to be my landmarks are no longer there. If you haven't been to BGC, you'll probably also like it there.

Yes, the red light area is in P. Burgos St. Coconuts are good for electrolytes so it'll be good to take it everyday (just don't overdo it). Poblacion has great small restaurants (those hole-in-the-wall types) as well as nice bars and roofdeck bars that's why it has become a popular nightspot. There's also a nice (homey) mall called Powerplant mall. My favorite (crowd-wise) and I grew up in the village across it. It's my go-to for movie watching.

I am from the DC area too, specifically Fairfax Co., and just to live here is expensive, even more so after the onset of C19. We are getting ready to move out to the Midwest where life is much more affordable and pleasant. Good luck with your travels around Makati and BCG, two places that I am very much familiar with. Personally, I prefer BCG. It reminds me so much of a big city on the East Coast!
