The best thing about these recaps is how positive Eric is regardless of the result and just enjoys learning from his games. He's playing chess for the enjoyment.

@@MrJoosebawkz it can be beautiful and boring, i mean the factor of excitement in chess is not existent (at least for me) since eh it mainly depends on lines to memorize, theory to study which I dont much enjoy.

When i play a dubious move, i give the opponent mate in 3, my queen and my girlfriend.
When eric's opponent makes a dubious move, he has to move a pawn.
High level chess just hits different, it's so nice, calm and calculated.

I like how you use the engine here because it lines up with how I use it in my own games - try to think a little about it first, then check with the engine and see ideas I missed. I know many people (e.g. Naro) encourage self-analysis first and foremost but I find I miss a lot of ideas that way, just because I'm still improving and not a GM!

When he played Rad1, I wondered why he didn't put the other rook to d1, as the rook on f1 doesn't do anything. Unless White doubles on the d file (in which case it doesn't matter which rook came to d1 first), White rather wants a rook on the open c file. Two moves later, he surprised me again by finally putting the rook on c1 (apparently trying to correct his mistake) when everyone else would think about doubling on the d file. Maybe I'm overlooking a tactical justification for these moves, but they don't feel right. The strange thing is that he had already known the position and Rad1 had been opening preparation by both of you. Anyway, I'm always impressed by your preparation skills and we would probably make 100% if you could play the first half of every game and I the second.
