Arrows’s voice is so soothing! Also when he was talking about wearing art and jade was saying the feeling of opening something that is well made and feels good and looks even better than it arrives, I felt that all. Honestly, one thing I love is finding items that I feel good in every time I put them on and when my friends has a favorite shirt of mine I feel so happy, that person knows me and knows my clothes and there is a kind of comfort in a well worn item that holds an experience and life.
Everything in the frame is so beautiful to look at....outside of just you guys -- melanin popping and friendship -- I'm loving that vibrant couch, I'm loving the chocolate beanie, chocolate hoodie, Jade's pants, Arrows' socks, the background greenery. Just flawless visuals all-around.
Jade's style: Immaculate, perfection, 10/10 and beyond. Arrows style: 🤪🛼👢🩳🦺🕺🏾🪞 🗣"we're strangers😠 you don't know me😡 I don't want ANYTHING from you😤 Don't talk to me. Don't look at me. I went to UC Berkeley🤬 dam I look so fkng good! link to my patreon below"
Both of your energies are just effortlessly cool and comforting. Thanks for allowing and validating the fact that it is okay to wear whatever makes you feel entirely yourself. I used to be so self conscious when I’d wear “feminine” clothes growing up and when I discovered more “masculine” clothes, I became much more confident in myself and my sexuality.
This reminded me of a talk i went to recently by one of my friends, talking about her master's degree. The talk was called dead white man's clothes, and was about how clothes that gets donated ends up in Ghana (and other African countries), and what happens to it. The talk was filled with privilege checking, joy and hardship, it was amazing. My friend had gone to Ghana, and when she talked to the people who were restoring the old clothes (re-dyeing, repairing, screen printing logos and patterns onto old boring t-shirts), she asked them what their work makes them think of the people these clothes come from. They said that they think we must just not have the time or resources to do this work. Cause why would you give it away if you had the time and resources to restore it?
I finally figured out my capsule wardrobe this year. It’s amazing to have so many outfits without having a closet full of random clothes. It’s life changing, fr fr.
Arrows trying so hard not to laugh at the animals under the house and Jade's Barbarian reference sent me right to the pearly gates!!! 😂🤣😂🤣 I replayed that part WAAAAAAAY too many times!!!
Also I’d be interested to hear more on gender when getting dressed for you both. No one really talks about the daily decisions and feelings when you get dressed vs how you feel when people are perceiving you, so I’m interested to hear more!
“You don’t get a cookie for saying that you are queer” 💯 Arrows. And to just add on to what Jade said, the reason we used to go so hard for queer folk is because we hardly had any public figures/representation back then but now almost every field has a queer person of which some are problematic AF! So just being queer isn’t enough anymore. If your gay ain’t gaying we don’t need to associate really 😂
This was a much needed episode, listening to both of your perspectives on trendy clothing items and high end fashion really opened my mind as to why I want to buy expensive clothing items, Arrows really had me thinking on that question of “why do you need to let other people know you have it?”, thank you for releasing this episode, another banger! 🔥
The concept of 'uniforms' was so helpful and validating. Thank you both for that and jade for the many awesome independent designers you've introed to us
i know i'm like two months late, but i'm from pg and ppl pretty much dress however there's a lot of diversity in looks. crocs are even big out here, so many people wear them as like everyday shoes. i personally will throw on something random to go run errands cuz idc. obviously i will dress cute when i want but i don’t feel a pressure to tbh. anyway much love to both of you and i hope if you come back to the dmv you can relax knowing there is no longer a dress code!
The talk about fast fashion reminded me of the documentary 'The True Cost', which interviews workers/ communities influenced by the fashion industry. It was a great episode to watch!
hahahahahahaha but at 2:04 that's actually so true!! i''ve never thought about maybe the reason I identified that style and fashion is so integral to how I feel about myself is my mum putting me in such terrible outfits when I was younger. literally to that extent as well as wanting to cry or trying to cover up parts of my outfit bc I didn't like them that much
I feel I have a specific type of clothing I like and fashion changes so much that over the years my style would be considered not ‘stylish’ for a few years and then all of a sudden I’m like hey they sell cool stuff now. A year later I’ll be like okay I will not buy any clothes this year and be a weirdo without fashion sense again. I’ll be that one teacher that everybody’s had that wears the same outfit everyday, because that is just their fit.
I don’t give a ffuuucccckkk about labels lol But a cute brand as a centerpiece to the outfit is always great It’s all about Style , and confidence especially when u get compliments on the most unknown items known to man .. like I don’t even know where I got this from You where the clothes , don’t let the clothes wear you
I think part of the reason fast fashion is so popular is because it is cheaper to buy and accessible. I know a lot of people who would love to shop ethically and it's great when you can. But a lot of people buy at need and so they would be more tempted to buy into fast fashion. There aren't too many other types of brands that are reasonably priced and accessible outside of fast fashion especially with inflation being one of the biggest issues today.
Lol the value of money hit me hard one day when I was in Dicks Sporting Goods. I had got my first job and my first paycheck and I remember wanting Js all my lifeeeee and because everyone around me had them… and right up until I saw that price and I scoffed and kept it pushin 😂😂😂😂 they weren’t even the most popular Jordan that was out at the time it was literally some funky lookin red and black shoe I said hell no not my money 😂😂😂 and I’ve still never owned a pair 🤷🏽
Idk if this is a bad take. Personally whenever I do buy from fast time its I know I'm going to wear. I love buying bags on SheIn. Bc I don't really live in an area where street wear is 1) affordable 2) very popular. So the select times I do but it's things that I haven't been able to find cheaper. Ik it's bad but, also this is probably how a lot of people feel especially if your masc, bc they upcharge for EVERYTHING.
What Jade said about paying half is so real, my mom does that with me and non necessities and it just teaches you to ask yourself, so I really want this?
Yea, I've been in the DMV practically all my life and me and the fam just visited houston. Me and my sis was thinking the same while in the Galleria Mall, where all the name brand clothes are, about how they just dress weird and how they dress just like people from florida. They can't dress, and just put a lot of shit together and call it a day, it just be a bunch of name brand clashing with each other 😂 I do remember people used to be like that back then but I honestly don’t think we care that much anymore, at least not our generation (millennials) but that might just be me 🤷🏾♀️
A queer aesthetic that has never been for me is the stereotypical stud-wear (when it’s not balanced out with anything else). The one made up of classic black mens street wear that makes them resemble 90’s rappers/basketball fanatics. Always has been visually boring to me.
Wait, what's wrong with wedge heels? I have weak ankles and can't wear stiletto heels, so I have a lot of wedges - I get the height without the ankle wobble. Dis is a no? P.S. I follow Jade's Made You Looks channel too. I would love to have heard you both talk more about gender identity through fashion.
Coming up off of watching the “we gay different” this is why I desperately want but know I’ll never receive a collab w my fave raysowavyy Cause y’all gay so damn different but I love y’all different gays
I need a shirt that says We Gay Different
I second this! Arrows, tell Jade to make this merch (bc she doesn't read comments)
So true
facts
Marketinggggggg❤
I back that💯
Hahahahhaaha the parenting part 😂😆 I’m dying. Jade’s kids are gonna ask Arrows for everything cause Jade is sayin “NO”. 😂

“I look expensive”…
“but you don’t look good”. Yessss! You have to find a balance otherwise you’ll end up looking like you’re trying too hard.
DEAD
ACCURATE.
Not the roller skates 😭😭

I love it two chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jade did the perfect black mom "come here" 🤣🤣🤣 the face, the voice 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it made me want to run from her
she really did.
Arrows trying so hard not to laugh at the animals under the house and Jade's Barbarian reference sent me right to the pearly gates!!! 😂🤣😂🤣 I replayed that part WAAAAAAAY too many times!!!

I love how well coordinated their outfits are.
Jade trying to convince herself that it's not funny 😭🥴
“White House, Black Market” I just choked from laughing 😂
“You don’t get a cookie for saying that you are queer” 💯 Arrows. And to just add on to what Jade said, the reason we used to go so hard for queer folk is because we hardly had any public figures/representation back then but now almost every field has a queer person of which some are problematic AF! If your gay ain’t gaying we don’t need to associate really 😂
my future kid is so lucky!
Ngl that "would u be my kid's godmother" moment was so wholesome
Very lucky cause the fact that you considered thousand dollar sneakers 😭
This was a much needed episode, listening to both of your perspectives on trendy clothing items and high end fashion really opened my mind as to why I want to buy expensive clothing items, Arrows really had me thinking on that question of “why do you need to let other people know you have it?”, thank you for releasing this episode, another banger! 🔥

Y’all are hilarious. Love it. “All right knees.” 😂😂😂 And the Arrows rant dramatic music… 🤣😭
Jade's calm reaction to Arrows leaving a shirt message to himself is soooo cute
I feel I have a specific type of clothing I like and fashion changes so much that over the years my style would be considered not ‘stylish’ for a few years and then all of a sudden I’m like hey they sell cool stuff now. folk in DC can't dress and i'm from Ohio, so Jade do with that what you will🤣

Personally, I lean towards platforms. Wedges are more woobly than a chunky heel in my experience too but what ever works for you is great!
@@Kayla_P99 I have a lot of platforms too. Def a chunky heel fan. Basically I have a lot of shoes lol
whatever animal took me out 😂
