We civilians should offer all American LE a buy back of their scary weapons. I mean we paid for them in the 1st place but I would gladly give them a few bucks for our guns back.

Protect your 2A rights, my American neighbours. In Canada our “gun rights” are at the mercy of whichever political party is in power. In fact the bill currently being tabled even bans airsoft guns…Which is like banning Hot Wheels cars to prevent drunk driving.🙄

Diemaco did make some models for civilians in Canada semi auto only, lower receiver being the main difference. Many military C8’s were sold as surplus less their original lower receiver. Could also buy new upper and lower receivers and flat top upper. Many of the surplus parts are in excellent condition. Trudeaus gun ban has them in limbo now with owners unable to take them to the range. Barrels cold hammer forged with thick chrome bore and chambers. Bores actually taper to about .002 at the muzzle to retain accuracy with use. Parts are made to withstand full auto. Your carbine is the 15.7 inch that gave slightly better accuracy than the 14.5 inch of the original C8. They are better made then Colt US. And made for hot and freezing climate to-40 something.

When going through the Colt plant tour in the 80's I was told the Canadian rifles with the cold hammer forged barrels had a longer barrel life. If memory serves me correctly in the US they were seeing about 15000 rounds and the Canadians would approach 20000.

I bought a Colt LE6920 through an individual officer program in 2006. What showed up was a Canadian made Colt LE6920. I thought I had been ripped off. Called Colt Customer Service and explained. He looked up the serial number and then said I was supposed to get a US made gun, Canadian guns we’re supposed to be agency sales only. I set it aside. The CHF barre is slightly more accurate than a US made 6920. Great gun

I did notice the razzing! Also this rifle is now prohibited in Canada. The Trudeau government banned it in 2020. It was restricted before that, meaning only a range gun.
Colt Canada also makes rifles for our military I believe. Or did before. The C8 is Canada’s M4 carbine and the C7 is the long rifle version(M16 if you will though it’s likely different).
America’s rifle was very popular here but we continue to get stricter firearms regulations. Robinson Armament XCR, M1A and mini 14 recently prohibited for example. I think it’s time to move to the US.

Tim, I know that you kind of dog Colt’s of recent manufacture but I own two and neither has ever had a malfunction. One is marked LE 6920 an d the newer one is marked CR6920. It is the EPR version with an aluminum rail, Magpul steel sights and I think Bravo stock and pistol grip. I have added a Geisel trigger and both rifles have an Aimpoint PRO red dot. They may not be considered top tier, high speed low drag AR’s but they suit my purposes very well. I trust them both. Each has a Streamlight weapon light and I believe a Blueforce Vickers style sling.

Colt Canada, has had some success with their production of the M-16 and AR-15 families. They did have an AR Variant that WAS available to Canadians, until this current government got into power. They have also sold the M-16 variants to UK Special Forces and Royal Marines (among other nations). Colt Canada is now owned by CZ. What’s its future? Well they are the sole producer of long arms to the Canadian Military. They also have some variants for Law Enforcement. The Canadian Military and RCMP are looking for a new handgun. The statement of requirement doesn’t mandate that it is manufactured by Colt Canada. However, with CZ now owning Colt Canada I think that moves CZ pistols up the list. Personally, I think, given the long history with S&W, the RCMP will go for the S&W M&P 2.0. Will the Cdn Military follow suit? Who knows.

Uhh..no thanks, these seem to have the lowers that are much harder to convert to full auto (in case of tyrranical emergency), which also prevent the installation of many aftermarket triggers. Unless you're planning on just buying it for its "collectors value", such that you thonk there'll be any in them, otherwise for actual use I'd skip these unless they were super cheap. There's so many quality AR's on the market, that don't have the weirdness and limitations of these Colt designs, which leaves little reason to get these.

As someone who grew up in a town bordering Hartford, and who used to drive by that blue dome on the Colt building all the time, it really makes me sad to see what such a great/historic company has become. In fact, a lot of the firearms companies that once called CT home have either closed or moved(or just kept their corporate offices here.)
I mean look how little they've expanded or added to their catalog over the years. They've been making the same guns(i.e. ARs, 1911s, and revolvers) since the AR came out(and in fact stopped making revolvers(at least DA revolvers like the python) for a decade or two, and only recently started manufacturing them again. There is no innovation there at all. They only manufacture what others have designed. I mean, they can't even be bothered to build a bolt gun or a shotgun or something? For gods sake they don't even have a polymer striker fired pistol! Even Mossberg has done that!
On a side note, I just looked up their website, and saw they are making retro ARs, such as M16a1s, and XM177E2s...for $2500 bucks.
