    I have been to several salons and begged them to do this to my toenail but everyone refuses. They don’t wanna cover it with acrylic cause they think it’s a fungal infection. My toenail became small and thick from multiple traumas it had which led to it falling off. I wish more nail techs were down to devote the same love you devote to people’s feet cause I be feeling insecure with my toenail lookin funny

      It’s also because ur not supposed to cover that with acrylic. I’m in cosmetology school and we learn about nail care and how u r supposed to refuse service and ask clients to see a podiatrist because a lot of the time it is a fungal infection OR applying acrylic over it leads to more issues instead of actually treating the problem. It just covers the problem

      I'm so sorry to hear that! One of my big toes has extensive trauma from multiple in grown toenail surgeries and it only grows on one side of my toe. I would make a nail using polygel. I got tired of doing it and went to the salon last week and they formed a perfect acrylic nail for me. If you can't find a salon to do it, try doing it yourself.

    Thank you for this! I don’t do toes cause I’ve always, since a kid, been a lil traumatized from a church event, whole nother story, but I have a slight phobia of other peoples feet lol!
    But this was still helpful because we do need to be conscious of the “behind
    the scenes”things you mentioned that do go on with toes and especially other peoples work. It’s a policy every nail tech should adhere to I believe. Just don’t work on other people’s work. Period. For the reasons you mentioned 💯. It’s important for someone like you who is reaching 5K people, especially beginners, to get this knowledge out there. Also due to my phobia I have to work myself up to watching any videos showing feet in the thumbnail! Lol! So honestly yours are the only foot videos I click on because you take such a reasonable, calm approach that is educational each time. So thank you for that. Plus? You’re a Notpolish Babe like me so… period. Lol

    My test came back negative for fungus. Me and my mom have thickened big toe nails. Hers is SEVERE! Mine is getting worse. For 3 years now I haven’t had nice feet. I use to love getting pedicures. I’m going to thin out the big nail. Use small nail extensions then rubber base for wear and flexibility. I’m a tech but haven’t worked in a long time due to carpal tunnel in both. Thanks for the video

    • @Nailsbyprettyface
      @Nailsbyprettyface  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that! Unfortunately it sounds like it’s just genetics but I wouldn’t recommend thinning it bc it will continue to grow thickened as that’s your new growth pattern and you may just cause more harm then good unfortunately but I wish you luck !

      It’s important to get rid of whatever is over growing. Filing with a course nail file all the way to the smoothest file. Even if you file your nail down to your nail bed; as long as you keep the nail bed covered with Polysporin and a breathable band-aid to wrap it. Once a week file down the nail til the healthy part (Google what a healthy nail looks like if you don’t know) shows. Everyone’s nails grow at different rates, do not be alarmed that your healing rates are different.

  • @miss.nita.
    @miss.nita. ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Wouldn't suggest leaving a gap under the nail. The moment she puts a sock on it will lift and get stuck or will keep lifting from walking. It hurts so bad when that happens. You call it airflow but you need to keep it right and touching the skin so no air and moisture goes in because it will cause fungus to grow.

    • @Nailsbyprettyface
      @Nailsbyprettyface  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      To each their own! The reason I say this is bc keeping it shut tight won’t allow them to clean under and rid of buildup etc! If done properly it does not catch! Also putting it right up against the skin will become painful and leave indents as the nail grows out and can cause damage that way! But do what works for you and your clients based on your own preferences 💕

  • @theMirandaRenae
    @theMirandaRenae ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Genuine question from a beginner and acrylic lover: I've always heard not to let acrylic/monomer touch the skin, even with ema. I have to reconstruct my sister's toes and I'm worried about reactions, so I am too scared to lay acrylic and we do polygel, but I prefer acrylic.
    I've never noticed techs being extra careful to not let the brush touch skin, even when I would go to a salon.
    I've never had a reaction to acrylic until I used a Kiss kit once and now I feel like I always have reactions, even with something like Mia Secret, which I was told doesn't have the mma.
    I guess my question would be, do you have a recommendation on what brand/s I can use to avoid reactions? I feel like I spend so much time making sure I'm not touching skin with product or my brush, but am still getting chemical burns?
    That reconstruction is amazing! ♡

    • @Nailsbyprettyface
      @Nailsbyprettyface  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well yes you should not directly be putting liquid to the skin but ofc it isn’t 100% avoidable bc the brush remains damp in order to work lol what they mean is to not just put the liquid on the skin. but honestly acrylic powder and liquid is chemicals so there is no brand that is safe or reaction free. If your body developed a severe allergy due to using poor quality products like kiss then I suggest to use better quality . I once got a bad reaction from using this powder from Sally’s and it was horrible lol but yeah Mia secret isn’t mma but it also is lower quality compared to what else is out there. And thank you!

    • @Nailsbyprettyface
      @Nailsbyprettyface  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And chemical burns are pretty severe so if that’s what your experiencing please see a doctor for treatment !

      @@Nailsbyprettyface I'm assuming it's chemical burns. My skin will itch for days and then it gets really hard and peels off. I've been wanting to try the Young Nails and Anacrylics lines, but I've been so afraid of spending the money for the same reaction. Lol. I saw you use the YN line and I got excited. I do have a dermatologist for my psoriasis, so maybe I'll talk to her about it! Thanks so much for taking the time to read and respond. ♡

    • @theMirandaRenae
      @theMirandaRenae ปีที่แล้ว

      @TMC it's awful! I still haven't found one product that I can use. Even when I glue on full cover tips and let them rest for two days and then paint, the base coats, top coats, and all polishes have given me devastating reactions. I used Kiiara Sky EMA monomer, and that's the most promising thing I've been able to use for acrylic. However, after the third day, I noticed that I had an itch that was just kind of annoying. It's not as bad as the other stuff, but it's definitely enough to notice. Like, my fingers don't bleed and crack, but they sure do itch. And then, of course, if I put on gel polish on after a couple of rest days, it takes about 24 hours, then I can feel the burning and itching starting to flare up. I always remove immediately after that sensation, and the issue goes away. I can wear naked full cover tips, and that's about it. 😭

    How often do you need to take off the Acrylic on your toenails to avoid fungal infection?

    • @Nailsbyprettyface
      @Nailsbyprettyface  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends from client to client as it’s different for reconstructions as well as different ppls growth rates! I typically on average suggest every other appt or 2 fills max! Some ppl like new sets everytime to change to a new color lol but the removal is not really to avoid fungal infection as anyone can get fungus even w out acrylic toes! It’s to maintain the health of the nails underneath and reset from time to time to properly adjust the length as well as prevent any injury/ damage!

    • @Nailsbyprettyface
      @Nailsbyprettyface  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately regardless discoloration can show through unless it’s a dark enough color regardless if it’s polish or acrylic! I wouldn’t advise polishing first as it would def affect adhesion and retention as you would t be able to prep lol or if you did you’d just be filing all the polish off! It would also most likely give a sloppy appearance or odd appearance as well especially for a reconstruction haha

      Nope😁 it’s all client preference ! However if the other toenails aren’t the most neat looking typically they want all 10 for an even look or else the newly fixed nail will outshine all the others kinda 😂😂

      It does but it doesn’t cause any issues as long as the technique is correct! Meaning your beads should not be too wet and the application needs to be very clean as to not cause much discomfort! Same
      As doing it on fingers! Liquid gets on the skin as you wipe away excess acrylic etc ! Def don’t recommend trying to give an acrylic toe to someone who has no nail at all bc that will not work

    FUNGUS TREATMENT I did on my Toenails/foot VERY IMPORTANT: I cut, trimmed, filed (top & around nails), and cleaned my toenails thoroughly. Then, pour 3% PEROXIDE into a bowl enough to cover both feet' toes. I soak the feet as well if there are bacteria around them. I left it for 15-25 min and did this 2-3x/week for 3 weeks, then down to 1/week. To NEUTRALIZE the Peroxide, have a bowl of vinegar and dip your toes/feet quickly. My toenails are now back to normal. Do not apply nail polish or anything during the treatment. If it's severe, you may have to treat it longer. Depending on the fungus severity, I reused the peroxide for 3 weeks, discarded it, then poured a fresh one. You will know when your toenails are treated. My maintenance routine consists of this treatment every 4-6 weeks when I remove my pedicures. I did not do pedicures during the first two to three weeks of the fungus cure. I used to take pills given by a podiatrist, which is unwise because it affects the rest of my body when I only want to treat a particular area. Peroxide soak is much more effective than pills that did nothing for me.

      No nail tips should never be used! It’s very dangerous as it creates a danger area of stress where the tip and nail meet. It’s actually a top reason why ppl actually have damage in the first place bc of improper techniques paired with a fall/trip causing the nail tip to rip off the natural nail 😭
