Gotta admit that Vergil's phrase here, "You will not forget this devil's power... you're not worthy as my opponent!" still gives me chills, 12 years later. This game is so amazing
The way he says it is bone chilling. Imo that was the most memorable statement in the game.
Almost everything in this game gives me chills, but the Vergil's fights/moments/quotes are legendary.

Epic Battle!!
Something huge to the story happens in this fight and it's conveyed almost wordlessly, Vergil acknowledges Dante's power and by extension the player's. It's not when he pops DT and taunts, but when he starts using Yamato again. Up until that point in the final phase of the fight he has been brimming with confidence. He curb stomped Dante while holding back last time they fought, and he treats Dante (and once again by extension the player) like a basic mob by testing a new weapon he just received for most of the fight. But by switching to his reliable base weapon he showed that he was being pressed to the point that he could not comfortably flex with the new toy. Because Dante was ACTUALLY pressing him. At that point it wasn't just toying around with his idiot brother anymore, it was a fight worth taking seriously. Dante was worthy as his opponent.
Edit: I know he says the legendary "now I'm a little motivated." But the devs had to give some kind of cue that you were in a new phase. I see it as more of a meme than a narrative tool.

He usually says "rest in peace" when he initiates the phase/weapon change but he was in DT so the line didn't play here.
"I'll just use more of yours to undo daddy's little spell" one of the most Badass lines in the game.

I love how, unlike most games, the cutscene flow directly into the boss fight. They don't make games this beautifully anymore :(

I wouldn't say they don't make it like they used to, it's more that this quality is Truly Astounding.. This mission, alongside the First fight with Vergil? These are the highest peaks for this game and they're like climbing up Mount Himalaya. It's not just execution, but the ideas too and carrying that out with such a standard almost flawlessly.
Take DMC 5 for example, over a decade after this game was made, even that game has a hard time surpassing the monster that is this game at its best and I say that genuinely enjoying the cinematic moments in DMC 5, alongside the funnier moments.
What I'm saying is, this just isn't a standard, this is almost an ideal in any medium's fully produced presentation... yes, I think It's That good.

Evade his attacks while shooting him with ebony and ivory. Wait for an opening and then quickly hit him with a stinger. While he's staggered quickly switch to beowolf and do the normal combo.
90% of Vergil's damage can be avoid by side-rolling
Even if you're new to the series, if you don't panic Vergil turns out pretty easy.
With the Trickster style you can dodge him easily.

I love it, Vergil's so overconfident from his earlier victory against Dante that he forgoes Yamato, the weapon he's most familiar with, in favor of Beowulf, which he only got, like, an hour ago and hasn't even used in combat yet. But Dante has not only gained MOTIVATION through his interactions with Lady (which he didn't have at the time of the first fight, he just kinda showed up), he's also awakened his Devil Trigger. After losing a third of his health, Vergil starts using his Devil Trigger (which he didn't in the first fight at all) because he's losing some real ground. Once he's lost two thirds of his health, he starts pulling out Yamato again, and only uses Yamato in the following cutscene as he's in pretty bad shape. The balance of power between the two has shifted since the first fight, and it's shown through the progression of the fight.
Well to be fair...we all never got through Vergil 2 on our very first try😂

PLOT:
After deafeting Sanctus and the savior, Dante came back at his office and ask Nero to come to Study Yamato, and see why Nero respond to it that much.
Nero try to explain his past as he was told he was abandonned at the church of the order of the sword and remember nothing.
(Some dialogues)
DANTE: What's up with this arm? Such a toy don't come from nowhere!
NERO: I don't know how i got it, i really struggled in the order of the sword, no one cared about me, i was just a little basterd that was used to pray Sparda.
When i was training, they said to me that i have potentiel they need to exploit, i always told that i was special.
DANTE: A very special punk lover.
NERO: As special as your bad jokes you morron.
TRISH: He really look like you Dante, you have the same haircut?
LADY: But Dante can't have a girl.

So this is example of some dialogues i made...
MAIN PLOT:
Vergil soul has been freed since Nero got Yamato katana very linked to vergil soul. Vergil, father of nero, fruit of a short relationship in fortuna with a religious woman
he met; he saw his own wife seduced and killed by demon and could not protect her, it explain his thirst of power and will to have his father, Sparda legacy back.
After being corrupted by Mundus and defeated by Dante in devil may cry 1, Vergil soul was kept by mundus as source of torture and power to have avenge against
Sparda betrayal.
Mundus learned a lot by corrupting vergil, and decide to create and replicate this kind of demon to strike back, two twin brothers , same weapon , ASMUNDUS and
DESMUNDUS created with his owns hands like he did with Trish to fight and kill Dante... Half demon and human being Asmunduns and desmundus (name can be
changed) are strong as Dante and Vergil. Dante try to cooperate with Nero which will learn more about the voice he heard before he got his devil bringer and why
yamato was broken (Mundus seal broken by Nero...)
Vergil will appear at very end of the game as a spirit, to speak a little bit with Dante and Nero his last words before going away (place demon world). It shows that
he is the spectral demon was on his back and that helped Nero , said to him '' Power, i need more power''
(Some dialogues)
VERGIL: We meet again dante, and you , my son...
DANTE: So you was there the whole time brother...
NERO: Who are you?
VERGIL : Now i understand why i lost against you, i understand why i am inferior, my seek for power blinded me , my part of humanity isnt that bad after all, our
father SPARDA understood that.
DANTE: Brother... I should have stop you before it was too late!
VERGIL: You could not Dante, i had to understand this by my own and you ... Nero you have good uncle.
NERO: What are you?
DANTE: This is my brother and your father Nero, welcome to the family.(taunt)
NERO: Impossible, i have no father you are just another demon!
VERGIL: I was always there my son, Yamato is my legacy, i sacrified my soul as a gift, a gift to protect you. I will always be there my son.
(turn to dante)
I have to go now, i have few time left, thank you my brother, i don't know where i go, but i know that i made the right choice. Farewell....
DANTE: You did, Jackpot brother...
VERGIL: Ahahah (smile and disapear)

This really shows characters' characteristics and really fill in all the missing plot holes. Fucking Christ, mate. This is one of the best suggested dialogues I've seen. I really hope Dante and Vergil meet and finally reunite their family spirit.

Imo, the most aesthetically pleasing version of Vergil is when he has both Beowulf and Yamato equipped at the same time.
Imagine a mod that allows you as Vergil to still be holding out Yamato when using Beowulf and having it strapped to your side when doing combos just like the 2nd Vergil boss. And with that, it'd be cool to have a Yamato/Beowulf set (like Force Edge) where you can pull off some Yamato combos while still using Beowulf (e.g. replacing lunar phase with rapid slash and executing judgement cut after holding down a button).
This fight is still amazing and DMC3 will always be the more epic for me, the brothers rivalry and lack of useless character makes it so great. 5 lacks of this epicness and is too slow without turbo.

I'm having a small competition with my buddy on who can beat the most games by 2015 from start to finish (so no mid to end obviously) and we allowed each other to replay our old stuff so it's not just about buying the newer shit. So I booted up DmC, sped run it for 4 hours, then hopped onto DMC HD collection. MY GOODNESS, the immediate transition between the classic and reboot seriously showed me how much they babied the newer players. handing out SSS ranks like candy on halloween where my usual score on DMC3 was an A. Still, good boss fight right here.
Easily one of the best boss themes in videogame history.

I always had sooo much fun with this fight. just because of the sheer intensity of the fight, jumping in and out of Devil trigger all to a seriously badass background music. Ahh good times.
but the thing I'm most confused about is how the hell Lady can still stand even after getting her thigh impaled.
Later on in the game she is actually limping from when arkham stabbed her in the knee and gets it bandaged it was just her adrenaline rush at the time that allowed her too stand briefly without any ill-effect.

I love your stye and fight combinations when playing dante on this level now that i remember it this has to be the hardest game out of all the dmc installments in terms.of bosses and gameplay.But its still one of best to date.

Yah, it ain't loud as to make your ears bleed.. but it does get in the way of the talk.. you can heart it still, but it often gets cut out by the music.. whelp, atleast It's not as bad of a talkative fight as Web of Shadows's fights.
(I'm talking about Spiderman: Web of Shadows.. the game had an amazing well-designed combat mechanic, but each time you hit an enemy their lines or ''one-liners'' got cut in half or cut off completely because of SFX and what-not, or they simply stopped talking when they got hit.. It's realistic-ish since you wouldn't continue talking when you're fainted for a while, but still.. takes out from the amazingness.)
When you don't know the ins and outs of his attacks, this fight is straight up carpal tunnel inducing.
I pity the people who played DMC5 without playing this first, they'll never know what playing Devil may cry really feels, looks and sounds like

Not sure what he does; it may be him performing Volcano, but there's no flash and it won't damage the player. It does signal the player that Vergil will start using Yamato in conjunction with Beowulf.

i remember trying to defeat him each time i fight him i have to use healing item and i had to keep around full revive to kill him in the end
