I lost my father exactly 2weeks I landed in Canada and as the reason did not go to school, Even though my father’s death is the cause of not going to the school, I worked using my SIN and did not go to the school within the 150days. But I have applied to a new school and will be going this January winter intake and I have updated IRCC and have changed my DLI already using my portal and it is done within the stipulated time. My question is, am I still out of status even though I did not go to the school immediately and the next semester but updated IRCC about my new DLI within the 150days? 2. Can I used the dismissal of my late father as the reason I couldn’t go to the school should incase I have been asked to explain why I didn’t go to the school? What are my chances of inviting my wife and children to come when I started schooling in January.? Thank you for your reply.
Here is my 2 cent opinion. First, sorry for your loss. Unless you had money problem, I find it hard to see how your fathers loss is the cause of you not going rk school when you were actually making time to clock in for shift work. I think By you not getting the necessary clearance from your school to take a leave of absence, your working with your SIN when you were not enrolled in school could potentially be a real problem.

I came into Canada April 24th this year originally to study 4 years program then after I came i realized how hard it’s goin to be for me to make that 4 years in cape Breton Nova Scotia so I decided to changed to a program of 2 years and Ive never heard of that 150 days rule till I came across this video and I already got admission since July in the new school which is starting January 2024 immediately after watching this video I changed my DLI in the ircc portal and I’m over 150 days with 36 total of 188 days now and i never worked on my sin or even cash pls is there any suggestion in what I can do? Thanks sooooo much I will really appreciate your help!

Yes. The rule remains, 150 days gap. If you think you will go beyond this, you will need to apply for a visitors visa to allow you to stay in the country. Pls read more using the link in the description box
