- Hai!~ In today's video we have a look at an operating system for furries, probably designed by furries. With a package manager powered by rust and LFS base its certainly more exotic than ufurmix and of course in true WindowsG fashion we're be installing it on something just as exotic :3
Will it work? Will it halt and catch fire? Lets find out shall we! ^w^
Thanks For Viewing!~ ❤

heya! one half of the yiffos dev team here! (the one who wrote that awful install script and owns vore microcomputers lol, the other half being my girlfriend who does all of the actual work on it)
just wanted to say i loved this video! here's some answers to the questions you seemed to have:
first off, the reason that linux-firmware didn't install is because `bulge gi` only installs groups, only `bulge i` would work to install a single package
secondly, i'm not sure how long ago this was recorded, but there is now an iso file for yiffos that replaces the awful install image i made which fixes almost all of the issues you encountered (i.e. it has a graphical installer, automatically configures a desktop environment for you, automatically configures your network and root certs, etc.)
thirdly, i am incredibly sorry for that install guide, i never finished writing it due to lack of motivation and by the time i had motivation we already had an iso installer that surpassed it lol
fourthly, the reason we went uefi-only is simply because i wrote almost everything related to generating grub stuff for both the original install image and the iso, and was way too lazy to add bios support. and because of that original decision, we never really got around to it! oops
i want to try to add bios support at some point, but especially now that we have an iso to worry about, it's a whole process to get working
also finally, you can install gnome by running `bulge gi gnome` iirc (:
i might be missing some stuff, but that covers mostly everything i wanted to mention! i'm sure my girlfriend will probably have some other things to comment on when she wakes up lol
we both actually do daily drive yiffos, although our current systems are both running from installs made by the iso installer (which i would really recommend you try, as it will generate a much more functional system)
it does still require uefi, but may still work with the method you used!
you definitely can get a working desktop environment from the install image though! it just takes quite a bit of work (especially since the install image installs a broken dbus which requires manual repair, which i think you experienced somewhat in the video)
anyways, really liked the video! always fun to see people discovering the operating system (:
(edit: turns out the iso isn't public yet! oops! i'll edit this again once i can get more info on a public release)
Is there other desktop environments and window managers other than GNOME in yiffos?
@@tech_and_stuff_2022 i'm pretty sure that we have windowmaker packaged as well as some xfce stuff, although currently we are focusing on gnome as we both use it and it is one of the easiest popular desktop environments to maintain packaging-wise

Yeah whatever, the theory of broken windows was demolished into a litteral representation shown in this video during the production of the video.

Love it!
hi light
hi snooopppiiiiieeeeeee. this will not help the furry allegations. love you nya
"My sister in christ, it's bad cable management" I'm going to have to steal this line lol
I came for the maid outfit, gentoo and programming socks jokes. But at first, seeing the name "WindowsG Electronics" I thought this was just a regular channel with mostly boring stuff but man was I surprised.
Not only was the maid outfit incredible (not to mention who's using it🥵)- but this is really fucking fun, loved the humor and every bit of everything I saw
Definitely the most adorable electronics channel.

You have the best giggle/laugh. Installing Gentoo because you're bored.... I am regretting introducing you to Gentoo. The fact you read the source code to figure out the issue is terrifying. You're gonna be installing LFS for fun soon, aren't you. Also, certs and keys seem to be a more common problem then they should be. Also, love that yiffOS has a neofetch ascii logo. Also, when you view the journal, pipe it to tail. That'll show the end. Thanks for telling us about Cuberite! That's awesome!

oh shit my friend made this OS! crazy to see this getting covered lmao
hi jasmine
This is some off the wall, weird, obsolete hardware with a obscure OS installed kind of content that I find entertaining.
My mom asked me if I'd been watching too much WindowsG recently, and I said, "I talk with catgirls, not with bitches."
That system is so cursed and I love it.
Okay, i see the production quality noticeably increasing even since the last vid. Lovin' it and liking immediately
So yiffos uses systemd on a LFS base and it doesn't use systemd-networkd? I guess even minimal OSes can have bloat
It doesn't appear to use systemd-bootd either
Found this channel while going down a furry linux distro rabbithole and this did not disappoint
31:48 who actually makes the neofetch ascii art for all the different linux distros? Is it just like people on github? And how?
Dont forget about the OS for bronies. Built on it's own Kernal from scratch, PonyOS is all you'll ever need :^)
When pony bros do something they go 100%
Missed opportunity to name it ClopOS :o
One of my old friends helped develop that. Pretty sure it never went anywhere. It wasn't even able to run off a livecd or USB all those years ago.
@@SonicBoone56 Must be a different one cuz PonyOS got updated every year from 2013 til 2022 and definitely does run off a LiveCD, or at least it has as far as I can remember it existing
She’s gonna go full furry. It’s over.

You were bored so you installed gentoo, that’s very based
Nice outfit (also plus point for wearing choker)
Computing with a touch of UwU... Not bad!
God damn your laugh is cute, love the vid nya!~
tyyy!~ ^w^
I'm trying to make LFS a daily driver and make Steam work and all that jazz. Knowing that YiffOS is built from LFS and some BLFS instructions, it would be just fine using BLFS instructions to get a desktop just fine. I would note that bulge will probably not recognize such packages are installed and library versions can get messy. Knowing the nature of this OS and how it seems more barebones than my own LFS install, I'll probably just make my own furry distro. Great overview!
I tried that, took 2 days to get to a usable terminal only system that I was happy with. Gave up after spending two weeks trying to get a DE working with it's gordions knot of circular dependencies. I should go back to it and try again, though I'll probably need to update everything to latest versions.
But if you're interested in how a linux system hangs together it's a great project and I certainly learned a lot.
@beardlyinteresting The depencies are a nightmare that I just had to learn to accept. For the most part, I just use xorg + dwm because it's all I need and it's fast, but the amount of xorg crap and 32-bit libs for steam is just aaaaaaaaaaaa. Add Firefox's deps and Discord's... only an autist like myself would do it lol.
Finally get to see a new video of u basically on time lol
Sending u lots of love ❤ ^w^
5:33 that actually looks like my computer lmao because the PSU is not modular (worst mistake of my life)

This is why I love Linux
Pretty amazing that in 2009 I passed this up for a slightly faster (and +$$) 955 Deneb. The 30GB SSD also helped. To this day those quad cores make for absolutely solid game servers. In those times, anything 2.4GHz+ was hotrod status for workstation and server. Unreal, Gang Garrison, Minecraft, etc...If it runs well enough for exclusive personal use on dual Pentium IIs, it will run on the Phenom II series and accommodate teams upwards of 24v24 with ease. So systems of that era aren't as cursed as you're led on even with the DDR2 memory. All that being said, I almost clicked off the moment I heard NFORCE. I have a SFF box with an nForce4 chipset that absolutely sucks the joy out of everything with sata controller crashes every 24h (under the official driver) and horrific graphical glitching under any and every linux GUI.
I want to see how well this 1.6GHz 2GB system handles Cuberite. 🤔
26:53 I've always wondered how people make these kinds of nostalgic bumpers. Really miss that era of TV and would love to create some myself.
That was so scuffed, i love it
Yet another absolute banger of a video! (=^・ェ・^=))ノ彡☆ And wow that is one heck of a cursed mixture of hardware (**LOVE** it)!
Also a very obvious bunch in production quality too. Top notch. And Blåhaj! 👏🏻
I just love her videos, don't ask me why
