    Candidates Tournament, 1959 - Fischer stumbles against Tal - Fischer not quite ready for the likes of Tal at that time - losing two Kings Indians and two Sicilian defence games.
    An instructive game showing both Tal's supremacy and Fischer's will to succeed. Enjoy the game
    Bobby Fischer was a record-setting chess master who became the youngest player to win the U.S. Chess Championship at 14, and the first American-born player to win the World Chess Championship.
    Bobby Fischer was born on March 9, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois. Fischer first learned the game of chess at age 6 and eventually became the youngest international grand master at the age of 15. In 1972, he became the first American-born world chess champion after defeating Boris Spassky. An eccentric genius, who was believed to have an I.Q. of 181, Fischer became known for his controversial public remarks in his later years. He was granted Icelandic citizenship in 2005, following legal trouble with the United States. He died on January 17, 2008.
    Match of the Century
    During the early 1960s, Fischer continued to be involved in U.S. and world championship matches, but was also making a name for himself with his erratic, paranoid commentary. After having a 20-game winning streak in the early 1970s, Fischer once again made chess history in 1972 with his defeat of the Soviet Union's Boris Spassky at the Reykjavik, Iceland world championships, thus marking the first time an American chess player had won the title. Fischer's defeat of a Soviet opponent, which became known as the "Match of the Century," took on iconic proportions in the midst of the Cold War and was seen as a symbolic victory of democracy over Communism. Fischer's historic win also made chess a popular game in the United States.

    Bobby Fischer breaks my heart, every time I see his pix, I remember a young man that grew up without a father , as an only child to a single mum , and with a poor upbringing, yet managed to become one of the greatest, at the greatest of life’s challenges we call chess. Rip bf, you are a bright star that will shine forever in our game, in one of life’s greatest obstacles , us deep thinkers , refer to as chess❤️

      Bharathi Dasan l,,,,, you’re missing the point. He grew up with a single poor Mum, and with no friends yet managed to achieve what he did, you can call him terrible, I’m saying he was a champion, his life storey makes me emotional. Please make sure you understand , what comments you make , on comments made,

    • @bharathidasan4016

      Jojo Youssef fischer is my inspiration and i consider him to be the greatest player of all time.But after he became WC in 1972,everything started going downhill for him,thats what im saying ☺️

    • @papaboris8665
      @papaboris8665 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      With respect, Jojo, just because someone articulates a slightly different viewpoint than you does not mean they are missing the point.
      There's no disputing that Fischer's achievements were remarkable and that the chess he produced was a great treasure for humankind. And certainly, if we are to be critical of his personality off the board, we owe it to him-and to our own humanity-to have empathy for him and to weigh our judgment of him against the hardships he faced and the obstacles he overcame.
      At the same time, I hope we can all agree that "he had a difficult upbringing" does not absolve someone of all of their flaws. It is true that if he'd grown up under better circumstances, he might have had less anxiety and insecurity and might have, for example, been less of a prick to everyone he tried to organize matches with. But Fischer was also a raging anti-Semite who believed that a secret cabal of Jews controlled the world generally and was out to get him specifically.
      At the end of the day, "great champion on the board and terrible person off the board" is an objectively accurate summation of Fischer. If you're willing to romanticize away all of Fischer's flaws and pardon him for his grotesque views just because he grew up poor and had a single mom, then it is you who is missing the point. Plenty of poor people grow up with single parents and do not become insufferable racist assholes.

    Looking for a bit of help, only been playing chess properly for the last month and got to 950 on chess.com, is it worth investing money into the analysis part of the website, will it help a lot?

      No don't waste your money. The analysis can be done online for free. I suggest you switch to lichess for free analysis. Also make sure you do the basic drills on endgame etc. on chess.com website. That should get you started.

    Only intelligent people respect intelligent people not others. Even intelligent women don't want intelligent men as their boyfriends, they still want those muscular studs.
