    Hey everyone! Here is a potential new series on the channel that we're aiming at new players. With the new player and expanded guides mostly wrapped up, I wanted to bring something even more bite-size for new players. I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful!

    PLEASE keep doing these. I've played Arkham for almost four years and Mark for three campaigns, and still learned something.

    Mark is a great selection. He's straightforward enough to entice new players, but also nuanced enough to have unintuitive and unobvious elements.

    Such a great video!! It gives me a great base to build my deck from without having to go into too much detail on individual cards. Thank you

    I will be very disappointed if we don't get at least 3 tips referencing Mark's place as AH's resident Himbo beefcake.

    Great format - and this is actually very useful for more veteran players that just want a quick refresh when returning to an investigator they haven’t played in a while! I think you found a keeper of a format!

    I love this format: Focusing on the abilities and cards that make it work builds a better picture...

    I really love this series. Helps so much for a new player. One suggestion, could you inform where the cards are from.

    I could see this being a popular series due to me personally not always knowing how to play many Investigators and returning to the same ones

    This format is super helpful! It's like a summary of the most important things about an investigator. Likes folks said in the comments, feels like he needs one more tip. (9) Mark's hot. 😅😂

    I love the idea on this series, some feedback: Talk to each other about how to present this as a duo. This was made where it was obvious that you put a lot of thought and wisdom into it. But Eric's contributions were mostly commentary or reactionary. I feel that if we take this series in it's current form 10 episodes down the line, I feel it will show as being a bit more unbalanced between the two.
    Suggestion for tip format:
    0. You two review the slides beforehand. Ensure Eric is aware of each "primary slide and example". Don't explain the more "advanced ways" you'll bring up later so his reactions are organic as they are now. I feel this will be better over 5-20 episodes if it's less "Viewers watching student learn from master" and more "viewers learning from newer player and then advanced player". The below suggestion (or something like it) can help achieve that if you agree.
    START ---
    - Justin explains the investigator and details like normal.
    EACH TIP ---
    1. SLIDE 1 - Introduce tip:
    - Justin introduces tip number, the slide and text, the raw details on slide.
    - (Essentially what's always done)
    2. SLIDE 2 - Main Example/cards:
    - Eric leads and explains straightforward examples of cards, he naturally talks as a newer player would talk
    - Justin interjects and supports details as needed
    - (This is different and I feel would add more balance)
    3. SLIDE 3 - Advanced Examples/cards:
    - Justin leads and explains advanced cards, scenarios and game examples that can take this tip from "obvious point" to bringing experienced, deep context.
    - Eric interjects and supports with perspective and questions as needed
    - (This is what you two do now essentially)
    4. SLIDE 4 - The Chatter
    - Justin and Eric do the banter about it.
    - (Yay, banter!)
    I think setting up a structure like this for every tip would allow it to be a more balanced structure, and one that gives the "new and old" perspectives in a more unique format.
    Also,
    ADD TWO "BAD TIPS" AT END ---
    - Random side note: I find that often when playing with people learning the game, it's almost more important to advise them what they should AVOID doing or thinking as the character. It feels like every investigator has a sort of "trap" that often people think about regarding them, and 1-2 sessions in they realize "Oh, I should have done this way differently". I think this is a good thing to consider with each character... common mistakes before making the first deck with a simple misunderstanding.
    Thanks again for all of your content, absolutely love it.

      It's a nice idea you have, but Eric has only played Arkham like ten times. I don't want to put them into a position where they need to start making informed discussion for players in a video because that would put an immense amount of pressure on Eric's shoulders because Eric would want to give good information. Eric won't be able to do that for investigators that they know nothing about, so I would essentially need to teach them about the investigator before each video, which we don't have time for.

      @@PlayingBoardGames I took Eric's presence here largely as an audience-surrogate, they just chip in with some well timed "wows" to give it a conversational energy. Honestly, they do this well, I find their energy delightful.
      Oh, and great idea for a series too.

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, that was what my thought was for including Eric in the video. I was originally going to record this by myself but felt that it may be more interesting for me and the audience to have Eric in the videos. It also allowed me to teach Eric more investigators.
      To go to the initial comment's idea again, I actually think it'll come naturally over time. Eric's questions may start to get more focused, or Eric themself will even be able to bounce off the tips naturally as they get more knowledge on the game. I do think it's a great idea to include Eric more in it, but I think it'll be something that'll happen as Eric learns more, and especially when we get to investigators Eric has played!

    I don't think you explicitly said it, my tip for Mark would be that his statline is actually 5 Health and 5 Sanity and you should be building him with that thought in the forefront of your mind.

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think this is a nice tip, but it also needs to be added that while you should pretend you have 5 health, don't be afraid if you do go over, because you can always go back. I think a blanket 5 health and you "die" thought process is more detrimental than it is beneficial.

    I don´t get the "Practice makes perfect/The Home Front" tech you describe. Why do i heal/deal 2 Damage instead of just one from "The Home front" if it all works out? *Practice makes perfect* says "after this test ends, if it was successful...." - so i get to keep *the home front* for another attack - but i don´t see me moving/dealing 2 damage at once.
    And how do you draw a card in the upkeep phase with him? I did not get that one... sorry😵‍💫

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You get to play the card twice, meaning you move damage multiple times instead of just once.
