Mike Weatherspoon is one of the most under-rated,unappreciated & superbly musical drummers there is. In a time where flashy licks that don't make since or fit & YOU KNOW EXACTLY what I'm talking about,THIS is what drumming is. Also, he & Danny are really humble.
Sharay's my bassist for sure and the quartet is tite, tite, tite. But I have to give a shout to whatever unnamed GC08 sound guy. Very tasteful mic choice, placement and mix. It's a little more extreme left-right pan than I'd do in-studio, but it must have been awesome live.
Everytime i see this i feel as though this is what the writer was trying to describe about David when King Saul needed him to play to bring peace to him so that he could sleep. Being a musician singer/musician is more than being able to do it. But what comes from the heart will reach the heart. All of these cats have 1 thing in common. They are not only gifted but annointed to do this. It hits different🤔
phenomenal bass playing by Sharay......those fills remind me of Anthony Jackson's style but absolutely have Sharay's signature on 'em.....the reactions of the audience.....priceless!!
All I want to know is who made the comment that they dislike this clip. What an amazing groove. Everyone is focused on the groove and leaving space for each musician. Sharay is a bass beast!
In the words of the Late Great Maurice White of Earth, Wind, and Fire! Lemme hear you say YEAHHHHH!!! Awesome work young men. The Ancient Masters would be proud. Duke, Count, Herbie, Theolonius, Dizzy, Miles, and MANY others
The run at 1:43/1:44 is probably Sharay's easiest in this entire song; the one from :39-42 is much harder and goes over more difficult changes. The 1:44 run is a dominant trill basically; the run at 1:39-1:41 is way sicker harmonically and rhythmically

Absolutely killer! Everyone is a monster, and playing the perfect amount of notes - no over-of-underplaying - with wonderful feel.

If there is no lead guitar in the set then the bass player can do more active fills like Billy Sheehan!
