- Carl A.P. Ruck is a professor of classic studies at Boston University and an expert in the use of entheogens, or psychoactive substances, used in religious rituals. We discuss Dionysus, the Eleusinian Mysteries, and evidence for the fungus ergot as a key part of these rites. We talk about Ruck’s collaboration with Gordon Wasson, who believed the Fly Agaric (Aminita Muscaria) was in the Vedic mystery drink of Soma, and Albert Hofmann’s synthesis of LSD from ergot.

It is sad that Dr. Ruck had to face so much headwind for his research, findings and publications. May he be fully recognized across the board and fully vindicated for his marvelous work!

Well, now we know better and why nothing happened. The stronger plant hallucinagens were used to dye the fabric of the guru's blanket. There are 7 levels of secrecy in Tibetan Buddhism. Is it any wonder that Terrance M. was disappointed in the drugs of India ?
Also being at such high altitude really can have have a tremendous effect, particularly on those who are still getting acclimated. Can be dangerous of course.
