    • @fireflyexotica5525
      @fireflyexotica5525 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The things that suggest to me that they aren't strictly Ethereals are two things: 1, the Ethereals originally had bodies and have only been missing them for 1,000 years. The Shadowlands and everything connected to it have been around far, far longer than that and the Brokers appear to have members that are far older than that. 2, Ethereal bodies have energy throughout themselves that needs to be bound together to create a form. The Brokers seem to have no such restriction.
      That said, I do think the Ethereals are almost certainly able to become Brokers upon death, but that the Brokers are from a plane that worships greed. There are a few goblins in the shadowlands, for instance, but my theory is that many of them become Brokers after death through the Arbiter's judgment system. Similarly, anyone from any race could become a Broker, just as members of almost every race have been seen in each plane of the shadowlands. So, most likely Ethereals do become brokers in most cases, but I think it has more to do with their overall greed than it does the similarities in their looks.

  • @livingluminite-canbeminedb7294
    @livingluminite-canbeminedb7294 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Brokers are definitely strange, mysterious. I personally do not trust them, but it is interesting that one voice line shared by most of them is, "I hope our ventures will be profitable!", at least something like that. If they value knowledge, and not material possessions, then they might wish to profit off of the knowledge us mortals can bring them. But with everything each player character has seen, what if we accidentally give them knowledge of something we should have kept hidden?
    Also, going way off topic here, but I feel some concern towards Tal'Inara, "The Honored Voice". She claims to speak for the Arbiter, however, this powerful orchestrator of souls is unconscious. How can one speak for another who is not there, who can't respond or give commands? Also, Tal'Inara seems to have control over all the Attendants in Oribos, which could be a larger problem if she is not to be trusted.
    Oh, and these Attendants seem to have ranks, similar to how the Brokers have Cartels: Tal, the highest rank, Kah, second to Tal, then Roh, possibly for coordinating transportation. Of course we have Tal'Inara, then Kah'Delen and Kah'Sher, but then we have Roh'Avonavi, who is the flight master, and the Fatescribe, who I believe was Roh'Tahl, but he allowed us to experience the Shadowlands in two different ways, transporting us to a different timeline.
    So, an Attendant with the rank of Tal can speak with and for the Arbiter. One with the rank of Kah might take over for Tal if they are absent for some reason. And one with the rank of Roh helps to coordinate transportation and movement around the Shadowlands. With this in mind, I think Tal'Inara may vanish at some point, causing Kah'Delen or Kah'Sher to take over in her absence. Then, perhaps the flight master, Roh'Avonavi, gave Tal'Inara transportation to somewhere else in the realm of death. This is just my theory, based on my own personal distrust towards "The Honored Voice".

    Total Tin-Foil-Hat moment, I think the Arbiter may be a broker-like being, (based on her non-corporeal form within her dress and mask, etc). It could be that the brokers used some kind of weapon to break her so they could escape and or make some kind of deal for power. They know we are trying to fix it/her, which is why they are hurrying to complete their plans. They want to stop us, which is why they went to the maw but Ve'Nari felt like we were a better lucrative plan and she betrayed them. That could be why they are looking for her as well, and trying to get us to give up her location. It would also explain why they are in every land we go to, they are gathering information from us, under the guise of offering us trinkets.
    Thoughts?

    dunno, Jailer said himself "Death comes to the soul of your world!" Wouldn't that implicate he wants to kill either Azeroths soul or all souls of the planets? Could sepulcher mean body of Azeroth? We never seen actual body of azeroth and we know they do have bodies since we fought Argus.

    • @C00Cker
      @C00Cker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So far all Titans we have seen were capable of manifesting a body around them by themselves, but still it could be something vital in awakening her, body or not. Maybe he wants to kill Azeroth, maybe he wants to turn her, we cannot know yet

      Call me crazy, but I seriously don't think the Jailer gives 2 sh*ts about the titan in Azeroth. I think he just wants a weapon to fight the other cosmic forces. Possibly using Azeroth the same way Argus was used by Sargeras but possibly not even that. Him gaining Azeroth is like "cool, sweet, free loot". He seems to just want a gateway to the physical realm

    I'm rather surprised you didn't mention the Kyrian Campaign's quest where you infiltrate the tower in Maldraxas to steal the knowledge of the Primus in the form of the books of war. A quest fully carried out alongside a dubious broker who wanted to take literally ALL the books of importance for some ominous upcoming event.

    I reckon the Sepulchre contains whatever is missing from the Jailer's chest. Getting it back is like Perfect Form Cell. I think the Brokers are looking for it either as part of an agreement that was already made for information from the Jailer, or as leverage to make a deal for information with the masters of the realms of Death, either the Jailer or the Eternal Ones.

    Wild theory here... The brokers, for some strange reason, make me think of the Doctor Who episode titled "The Unquiet Dead". In this episode, aliens had the ability to travel through gas and then possess a dead body. Maybe, just maybe, these brokers are able to gain entrance into other realities through the process of resurection. When we die in-game, we go to a graveyard and then have to run back to our bodies as a ghost. What if, when we die, these brokers, in their gaseous state, hitch a ride with our ghost form while we have that connection to the Shadowlands, and upon resurrection, the gas is released into the atmosphere where they are able to possess some other being. Wild. Theory.

    I’ve been intrigued by the way in which the writers are using careful words/syntax. I find myself very aware of ambiguity. From the start, I thought the Brokers were Ethereals and possibly Up To No Good. We’ll just have to wait and see. I still wonder if they had a hand in building the Arbiter (she has something of the Brokers about her as well as Bastion, whose inhabitants may prefer obedient machinery over independent life) and if her ‘heart’ is actually the Gaoler’s.
    Remember that just about everyone in the Shadowlands warns us not to trust what we hear or see. Right now, I’m hoping I can trust Ve’nari as long as she wants something from me and I can pay, given her name suggests she is venal.

    I suspect that the big macguffin of the Shadowlands expansion is whatever the Arbiter has in her chest and I also suspect that it was removed from the Jailers chest after his betrayal (the Heart of Zovaal?). Wouldnt be shocked if the Brokers were after the exact same thing.

    I am halfway into the video and I can't help but wonder what would happen if the player character became an item of interest for the Brokers? Would we be able to resist them?
    I also wonder if they had any influence in shaping the materials that gave the goblin's their personality traits? Goblins are greedy, like to make deals, and generally get what they want no matter how impossible it is to obtain. The goblins also learned how to build machinery and even harness the holy light through sheer willpower alone because you can make money off of church donations. We have yet to see.

    ‘Learning from the masters of every reality’ definitely reminds me of the books in Revendreth - the ones that likely talk about Dreadlords infiltrating all of the cosmic forces. It’d be interesting to find more signs of both DLs and Brokers in upcoming storylines. If we’re gonna be exploring the many realms and the cosmos of the WoW universe, then it’d make sense to run into races the have infiltrated or travelled seemingly everywhere.

    I noticed really quickly how similar the Arbiter and brokers look. I feel like the Arbiter is a broker, and I find it eerie that many of the brokers say "death, is the ultimate transaction". In a way the Arbiter's job was to sort and organize souls, some how perhaps buying and selling them? I can't help but think that maybe, this is the broken system that Sylvanas and the Jailer are intent on tearing down. Perhaps the Arbiter is a usurper and the Jailer was the rightful sorter of souls and wasn't quite such a douche before the Arbiter stole his heart, or better yet, fell in love with the Arbiter, gave her his heart, she said "nah, you bald and ugly" imprisoned him in the Maw. Now the Jailer is bitter and in prison and needs another heart, hence why he want's Azeroth so bad. Perhaps Azeroth likes ripped, douchey bald men because I keep thinking about Gul'dan's warning at the end of Nighthold; "In the end, Death will inherit your world, and SHE will be waiting." Like, either she wants the Jailer's D or she's in so much pain from Sargeras's sword. Also, what about that sword, by the way. Since the Jailer is all about turning weapon's into mourn-blades, there's already one sticking in Azeroth. How easy would it be to turn it into a mournblade and suck Azeroth's soul right into it?

    The ethereals are divided between different factions, most of which were introduced during the Burning Crusade. The Consortium focuses purely on trade, and it's they who provide transmog and reforging. The Ethereum are radicals that seek vengeance against the Void Lords by wielding the very power that doomed K'aresh, and the Protectorate is fighting against them. Legion introduced a new faction called the Shadowguard, that seem to be directly in league with the Void, and are potential future enemy.
    I think it's the same deal with the brokers. Some just want to trade and provide services. Others have a secret goal that could be part of a larger cosmic scheme. Ve'nari has some kind of goal in the Maw, that has landed her in trouble with her cartel. It's very likely the brokers come from an undiscovered realm in the Shadowlands that we might actually visit in a future patch.

    I'm beginning to wonder if the Ethereal's mysterious Master might be in fact a Broker Cartel...
    Or if the Ethereal's might just be Brokers in different clothing more suitable to the Realm they're found in (i.e. "Reality") maybe the Realms of Outland, Dranor and Azeroth are damaging/caustic to the Brokers as we see them in the Shadowlands and they have to use a different outer casing/clothing to survive in them which, if I'm right means the being is only the energy field and not the mechanism (Broker's) or bandages (Ethereal's) we see them in...

    If the Brokers aren't strictly speaking ALIVE then the purpose would hold little meaning for them. They don't necessarily have to be older, they just have to feel above the cosmos. Anyone who can travel it and wield such awesome powers could easily fall to a sense of hubris. They seem all powerful and can travel between worlds, but what if they are after, say, *Chromie*? They haven't indicated that they have any control over time. For someone who can do so much and love curiosities, Chromie would seem very interesting.

    you know what that flame thing where the head should be is? a Dulahan! and some myths say that the flame is what conects body and head! so I dont think they are Dulahans, but I wonder if that flame works somewhat similar to a Dulahans. where the "body" we interact with is in fact a complete construction and the true form of the Brokers is still back at their home. This would explain why they are not afraid of sending their people maw, and even more importintly why they are able to know whats going on in the maw when noone else but the jailer and us "Maw Walkers" are soposta be able to do that!

    Also the Arbiter looks Cartel-like... and when they say 'Now is the time' is it because the Arbiter is down? Since the Arbiter can judge souls because of its knowledge of all the souls, what is the Ethereals have been gathering that knowledge like a hivemind for the Arbiter? or what if Ethereals vs Cartel is a hint towards a void vs light fight that may somehow involve Elune? Ethereals do seem to be more shadowy void like.

    *spoilers*
    we killed a whole bunch of Brokers in Necrolord's campaign. They were transporting artifacts to Kel'Thuzad that would allow him to open a gateway to the Maw. A gateway that would presumably work both ways. I am not really sure what are the rules of travel here, since lot a Maw characters seem to be able to travel back and forth between the Maw freely already, not just the Maw Walker (Mawsworn Kyrian, Helya, Lysonia...). But besides that, we don't know yet if Brokers knew what those items would do (well, presumably if they knew, they wouldn't care). But it means that there is probably almost a direct connection between them and the Jailer.

    One thing that always bugged me is the fact that we always speak of this possible realm of order where the titans go when they die and stuff. But isn't our realm the realm of order?
    I know it doesn't go well with the chart that we got in chronicles but we've been proven since then that some things in those books are no longer cannon (such as the shadow = void thing). Technically speaking, the realm of order would be some sort of plane ruled by arcane where titans birth, right? But from what we know in the lore, it's exactly what our realm is like.
    I might be wrong on this one tho.

  • @retrohanska4441
    @retrohanska4441 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been thinking about what are the future dungeons and raids in this expansion and Brokers seems better candidate by the day. I'm pretty sure next raid is in Maldraxxus and final tier is of course in The Maw but that's not gonna be everything unless Blizzard wants to do the bare minimum like in WoD and they don't want to another WoD. So what other options are there besides Brokers? Nothing as prevalent, that's for sure. Either Ardenweald or Bastion could be attacked and there's that datamined line about Archon dying so maybe that happens. My joke option would be Kyrians hosting Argent Tournament -style competition. Of course something could also happen behind our backs in Azeroth and we need to take quick detour there but I'd rather keep those kind of things small and save them as foreshadowing for future Azeroth expansion. And I guess some other cosmic force could make their appearance and threaten the balance of the whole cosmos and we must but an end to that. But none of those has even nearly as much build-up as Brokers.
    Brokers could also do something I think everyone would appreciate: new areas and new content. I like current 5 zones but let's be honest, they're not gonna stay entertaining on their own for the next 1,5-2 years. Imagine Brokers opening a portal every day to different location with some random activities. Gameplay-wise it could be elaborated version of Invasion Points in Argus and instead of just 1 event we do bunch of different stuff there for or against Brokers. Probably both because I'm sure that different cartels are gonna take different sides when shit hits the fan and smart person would side with us considering our unbreakable win streak. We could get a dungeon that's basically a combination of Violet Hold and the arena in Maldraxxus. And finally we breach HQ of one of the bigger cartels, maybe the one working with Jailer that now also allies with bunch of smaller ones and we must defeat them to shut down supply lines for the Jailer even further. Or maybe teir plan really is even bigger than Jailer's and they're gonna lead us to the future expansions.
