- This is my strategy for fighting the mass produced Ray units in MGS2. This works on all difficulties, especially on Extreme. Just remember to pay attention to which Ray you are damaging the most as that will be the Ray that jumps onto the platform, and you'll be fine.

The problem with this fight isn't that it's difficult, as much as it's tedious and it doesn't allow for many mistakes.
I hate investing 10 to 15 for a fight, only to have some cheap attack kill me and force me to start from the beginning. Very demoralizing.

Decided to try it again today and I still couldn't do it. Fun times.
Those missiles when you see em run towards the ray, or do a cart wheel! They are 100% bs and can ruin your flow!
@@digitalworms They are the most difficult attack to evade, needs to be very precise to do the cart wheel and the direction.
The first time i played i got stuck in the shell 1 - 2 bridge because my stupid ass couldn't find all the sensor panels lol@@doddsino
the fact Raiden managed to destroy 20 MG Rays with a Rocket launcher
cut one in half with a sword and almost died to a Brazilian is crazy

It disorients their target lock on, causing their machine gun and missiles to be incredibly inaccurate and easier to dodge.

They're talking about throwing chaff grenades. The comment was 10 years ago when youtube didnt have the direct replies as they are now so what would have appeared as a normal reply 10 years ago now just appears as an out of place comment lol
wow. for some reason i thought the stinger had to be locked before firing. i didn't know you could fire and lock after the shot. makes this fight trivial.
I have tried but RAY is too tough to beat I've tried using Body Armor, Wig A, rations. I doubt I could defeat 10 MG RAY's but I mustn't give up until I have won. You're next Solidus Snake.
You just need to focus on one at a time. and remember when you get one down to a quarter health bar, that's when they will jump onto the platform and confront you directly. When they shoot their knee missiles, don't ever try to dodge in a straight line. It's tougher for locked on weapons to hit a moving diagonal target than straight one.
Thanks, and like you I have done it. Now I've just got to go through Extreme and gather the last of the Dog Tags and then the Great Dane Achievement will be mine. BTW are the Dog Tags in the 2001 Viewer are different than the 2002 or just the same, like the same names of the one you've already collected? Just trying to cover all the details. I'm only 4 achievements away from complete the MGS HD collection.
The 2002 list I believe had contest winner names in it, if I remember correctly.

That start was clean as shit. I honestly watched this to see if I was supposed to do something because they just kept coming but nah. Just gotta be good on hard mode, I guess.
No wonder I had to hold L1/LB to lock on target after firing. But I still need to get good at cartwheeling their attacks outta the way.

Nick PL I'm playing on hard in this video and knee missiles are less likely on hard difficulty. I have two other videos where I play on Extreme with this very same tactic. I honestly cannot recall if they prevent knee missiles from being used or not.

Tried him 2 f .... hours no he allways kills me.But i allways done a mistake.Standing 2 far away he will spam rockets 2 near he will do his laser middle he will do his sub mg.the best way to kill one is true to stand middle range of him,but it isn't easy cause two others stand behind him shooting rockets.

Yes, that tends to happen when you use chaff grenades and shoot at their knees...

This boss battle on normal difficulty I reached the colon by 3:05 pm and then beat all 6 metal gear rays at 4:51pm on my 2nd attempt I seriously can't believe people broke their controllers over this and were stuck here 7-10 years you cannot be serious? because metal gear Rex over on mgs for PS1 took me 2 weeks to beat back in 2012. This ray boss fight felt like a walk in the park compared to Rex seriously come on!? I should have played on hard oh well
