      It's about body autonomy. They legally can't do any test on her without her consent. I'm not sure how it is when it comes to states of unconsciousness though. And yes HIV is a health risk but not so much so that she has to be quarantined

    • @leannepaxton5012
      @leannepaxton5012 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      As a nurse or any health professional, we are supposed to treat all blood and any other bodily fluids as though they are infectious.
      It is standard practice. So, it shouldn’t be any more of a health risk than dealing with any patient.
      Of course, it is always good to know, but if every patient, along with their blood and body fluids are treated with precautions as though they were HIV + , then anyone coming in contact should always be safe.

      @HilaryCocciola 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In state of unconscious, if there’s a close relative or a tutor, he’s in charge of what kind of medical tests and procedure the patient will undergo. If there isn’t anyone who can make the decision for the unconscious patient, then the doctors can perform any procedures that are needed to save that person life in that specific moment. Although they can’t make a patient undergo any type of long therapies such as chemio or hiv treatment without a relative or a tutor’s consent.
      There are also cases where the state can force you to do some kind of treatment or medical procedure, for example, for coronavirus’ test. If you have the symptoms and you’ve been in contact with a positive patient, you have to take the test willingly or not because that’s a matter of public safety since you can potentially infect a lot of people and create a new wave of infection.

When I found out I blatantly refused, I was in denial I was so angry. I hated the doctors with such depth because I blamed them for not taking it out. It has been years and years and years since that time and I have accepted it.
