- Kim Kardashian is facing backlash for her advice for women in the working world. The 41-year-old mogul spoke to Variety alongside her mom, Kris Jenner and sisters, Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian, for their new profile and revealed her advice for women regarding work ethic. "I have the best advice for women in business: Get your f*****g a** up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days," she said. The billionaire later added that sometimes people think success comes easy because of what they see on social media. Kim's comment received a lot of hate online with some user's calling her "tone deaf" and others pointing out they came from a wealthy, successful family.

There are many women who work their butts off on a daily basis, whether in a corporate or a domestic setting, and for some, they earn just enough to make ends meet. I feel she was putting women down, straight up, and, considering her successful businesses, not to mention her secured financial status (kudos to her on both!), it was not a cool thing to say. She should have exercised some sensitivity before making such an asinine statement.

I work for a reputable lighting design consultancy and we had once worked on a project (business space) for one of the karjenners (I won’t name which one) and whenever we had a conference call and she was there, she gave no input, no work effort was given. Just ‘yeah, I like that, looks good’ with constant glances at her phone. So whenever famous people come up with a brand and say ‘we did this, we designed that, we really wanted blah blah blah’ just take it with a large pinch of salt. Because more often than not it’s actual regular people with degrees/experience/creative ideas in their field doing their 9-5+ jobs and the actual famous person just goes ‘yeah sounds good’.

Since it's Kim's companies and she sets the tone on the work environment she can say that. I don't think she realized that when she said it. If I am someone that wants to become an executive in the music industry it's kinda hard for me to start working @ Universal Music talking about eliminating a toxic work environment when I am only a director. I mean try. But try with clear goals and a good base and then still try and aim bigger better higher whatever you know. But a lot of the time the real life of the high life is candy coated, related, semi glossed over and or made light. And they are actually tell some really good fundamental truths. That especially young people need to hear. They are taking charge and thinking of there impact when it comes to work ethic. No one says that you have to make it look hard especially if you dont want to. I think that it was taken out of context. We’re only seeing a very small portion of that interview. Kim has absolutely been time deaf many of times however I will say if you look at Kim back when the show started and Kim now she has grown a lot. Not many people grow up the way she did and we can’t fault her for that but I do think she does take a step back when she says something off the wall that a “normal” person would not have said and I think she tries to learn from it. She’s human and i don’t want to bash on anyone too hard because make mistakes all the time… not the same mistakes as rich people but that’s the thing we’re just people and not one of us on this earth is god so not one of us is perfect.
