    Thank you for posting such a great video of the race and route. It's thanks to people such as yourself that are willing to run the race with a camera attached to them that we have these interesting and unique videos.

    Hi Findpatrik, thanks for watching. I would suggest one or two 56km races, before jumping up to 86km, but good luck with the training.

    Hi Dale. I filmed it on 720p Wide angle. wore it on a head strap, and took three extra batteries to change along the way. Then you will need to put a stabilizer effect on the footage afterwards. Its pretty smooth, when only sped up about 10x, but this is sped up about 50x

    Thanks Shoooey. I took 4 batteries with (2.5 hrs each), intending to do a sub 10 hrs, but that didn't happen, so I had to cut a few of last few kms to save battery for the finish. I wore it on my head, but yeah it's not very comfortable for 11 hrs.

    Thanks so much for posting this. I'm doing my first Comrades on the 2 June 2013. I'm so nervous and this clip gave me a nice view of what I'm in for. Training hard and holding thumbs ;) . Hopefully see you on the road

    Hi Chris, Glad you enjoyed the video - I'll try make a smoother version on the uprun this year. I'm sure you'll do great, if you're well trained and prepared. It's an amazing experience.

    OMG!!!! I can't believe we will be running in it in just 21 days - no seriously - hard to believe (this will be my first big C). Thnks 4 the vid - made it a tiny bit easier to grasp although I am scared sh*tless and full of self doubt at the moment :D

  • @MrChingchongcha
    @MrChingchongcha  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No I took 4 batteries (2.5 hrs each), and was planning on finishing sub 10 hours, but the wheels fell off, so I just had stop filming for some parts, and luckily I had a little battery left for the finish.

  • @lsbuffs
    @lsbuffs 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. Can't believe your GoPro camera lasts for nearly the entire race while my Garmin 610 craps out after about 7 hours. Well done!

  • @MrChingchongcha
    @MrChingchongcha  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    He he, thanks for message Romy. There will definitely be big ups and downs (literally and mentally) along the way, but I'm sure you will have a great race if you just take it easy, absorb the atmosphere and enjoy it. Good luck.

    What parameters did you use for the camera when shooting this? I have a marathon and a couple of ultras this year and I just bought a gopro which I'd like to use during the race.

  • @pacus123

    How did you charge the batteries while running? Did you have a solar charger?

  • @shoooooey
    @shoooooey 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    thanks awesome, thanks for letting me re-live that! you were 56 mins ahead of me :) how many batteries did you use and where did you have the camera? I was thinking of doing this but decided against it because of the batt life and I wasn't sure if I could handle wearing that for the whole race

  • @hwyfan
    @hwyfan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for the gopro video perspective. I am curious, how does the down course compare to the up course?

    • @MrChingchongcha
      @MrChingchongcha  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're both really tough and have pros and cons. Different people like each way.
      I think the up run is slightly easier because you are doing most of the climbing and hard work in the first 35 kms, while you are fresher and stronger, whereas on the down run, you are doing the biggest downhills on the last 35kms when you are buggered. And the downhill is more pounding on your joints, but the uphill is more focused on muscles.

    Is time lapse o just video?

    • @MrChingchongcha
      @MrChingchongcha  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rafa Garcia Benacazon Hi there, it is time lapse video. It took about 11 hours real time to run, so it is speeded up a lot. Thanks for watching.
