Basically they are the same except that the GTi has dual encoders whereas the GTe does not. Practically speaking this just means you can de-clutch both ra and dec axes and manually rotate the mount without it losing it's alignment. You probably won't use this feature however since, with goto, you will most likely always use that to slew to objects rather than manually performing rotations on the mount.
