I used to think Coogan was the best comedic actor I'd ever seen but Ricky tops him I think. The subtlest of looks, nods etc. I think the best example is when Brent is interviewing for an assistant, that is amazing!
You need to watch the U.K. Office and the film “David Brent: Life on the Road” to really get the context of this music video and why it’s so character accurate.
Hey Josh, This song has a massive back story. It plays on all of David Brent's insecurities about not being seen as a racist, sexist, homophobe to the point that he tries sooooo hard to show that he isn't (he does this all through The Office series as well) that he actually accidentally seems to be all those things. This song came about when Ricky's character wormed his way into becoming a manager for his black musician rapper friend, but during their first recording session he starts to gradually take control of the situation and injecting his own music until finally his "anti racism" song is used and his mate only has a feat part. You totally need to watch the British Office. It's a completely different baby to the US version and Ricky's character is so well acted, so aware of the cameras it is just pure cringe (but in such a true to life way - we all know a David Brent, but no one actually knows a Michael Scott).
Ricky Gervais never fails to make me laugh. This guy has got so much classic material it’s unreal. This man really is Comedy genius. Television would be dead with out him. 👊💯
Really old! It was for comic relief in UK. The other guy is Doc Brown who is another good comedian from the UK should watch if you haven't. He's quite good on the Russel Howard show. Also Ricky does a whole guitar lesson series as David Brent and a movie after the office called life on the road.
Really old but timeless. Me and best pal still randomly sing snippets on site at work. Crazy how Brent stuff just pops in your head. "Just wanna be popular as the new boss love me pathetic
Doc Brown, the rapper in this video would have no doubt collaborated with the song writing. He's a Stand Up comedian that incorporates Raps into his routine. Doc Brown "Slang 101" or "Proper Tea" are worth a watch, he was also on a series of Taskmaster (same series that had Joe Wilkinson which i believed you've watched some of)
@@AfterWorkReactions To avoid confusion the video with the bloopers is called "the making of Equality Street" and the sort of making of Equality Street is called "The Return of Brent"
Nice one Josh, I've not seen this in years, forgot how good a wee tune it is. I love reggae, and the 'biddly biddly biddly biddly bom' always makes me think of Musical Youths 'Pass the Dutchie' 😂💛🏴
Recommendation ::::::::: The other guy in this video is a comedian called doc brown. I recommended a long time ago his rap called 'proper tea'. He performs it on the Russell howard show which i think is his best version. You could even watch his whole section on the russell howard show as his comedy generally is great. When i saw ricky gervais stand up live, doc brown was his support act.
Good old Ricky - legend. Went to see the office movie at cinema with a Q&A after with Ricky and two others from the cast including the rapper. Ended up meeting Sam from game of thrones there and got a pic haha
Mate, you've got to watch The UK Office. Ricky Gervais' genius right there and what made him what he is today! Absolutely brilliant, pure cringe!! Also Learn Guitar with David Brent is pretty funny. Keep up the great work.
Josh, have you seen the UK Office? This is David Brent from that series, he was trying to be a music star, this video was done around the last "Office" series which was just Brent doing crappy gigs. If you've never seen the UK Office you NEED to watch it, that's where it all started. 2:47 The fk is that dance move?! Hahahahaha Like a supersonic walking frame! The other guy was in "Derek", another of Ricky's series you should watch, you watched the bloopers before.
Probably mentioned by others. This from the Soundtrack for David Brent: Life on the Road film. About Ricky's Office character after the series ended. One of the best albums I've brought in the past 10 year. Ricky was in the music biz for a short while when he was younger.
He did all these music videos because David Brent, the character, always wanted to make it as a singer/songwriter. Ricky released an entire album of material called 'Life on the Road' to coincide with the movie of the same name (Brent's life after 'The Office', trying to make it as a star). Both the movie & album are great. Also, he did more music material on his channel called 'Learn Guitar With David Brent' based around short guitar teaching comedy sketches. All of that may be worth your time.
I've seen Ricky say a bunch of times that he loves people posting his stuff in whatever way they like, so hopefully he's told whoever manages his channel to go along with that.
Watch movie called David Brent,on the road again...its him and other guy in the video as the main characters..I'm assuming they made this song about the time the movie came out
The song came out in 2013, the Life on the Road movie was 2016. The film is a sequel to the TV series based on the same character called The Office. There was a US remake, but the UK version is better and smarter comedy, and the original of course.
Also, he wrote a whole album of music as the Brent character for the sequel movie Life on the Road. Not as great as the series, but still worth a watch for some chuckles!
A peter kay interview you reacted too the other day reminded me of ,Freddie Starr and Mohammad Ali on Parkinson, I would love to see you react to that.
Its time for The Michell and Webb clips. Made by the people from Peep show, im sure you will enjoy. Try "That Mitchell and Webb Look: Homeopathic A&E"!
I've been subbed for about a year now man, Great honest reactions. You should watch the full father Ted "racist " episode if you can it's fantastic. All the best from the U.K. mate. PEACE!
Those little "see that" nods and points are SO david brent haha - you should watch some more Office UK stuff
I will check out more clips if I can man I know clips from the office get blocked.

@@AfterWorkReactions The Character is "David Brent" no one knew Ricky Gervais back then. He's not Ricky in this.
After Work Reactions no worries! You too pal! :)
My favourite line: "And dwarves aren't babies, you can't just pick them up, they've got rights, and don't assume you could, they're not light.
Or, the rapper to the two gay guys: "let's be friends, but just friends!" Classic Brent line.
"Lady Gypsy" is another one from the 20 song (yes, twenty) album that he did. Good video for that too.
This!!
I will check it out man thank you =]
After Work Reactions he was a singer in a band in the early 80’s “before he made it” they were called Seona dancing 😁
