I mostly motorcycle camp. 70 yo.... I just did my first hammock camp for 12 days.... Loved it.... The learning curve is so true... I discovered the bending of my legs for comfort.... Worked great. After backroads riding sometimes my lower legs/ankles are a little puffy because of riding so much.... The hammock relieved this perfectly as opposed to a tent and pad..... Thanks for a great video....
Some day, I will have to get a motorcycle and join you. I always wanted to do that. It would be super cool! Thank you RoadDogSteve for watching. I really appreciate it.
How dare those youtubers forget those great people around the world. I surely appreciate them. Thank you Cornelisachtenzestig5533 for watching. i really appreciate it.
Glad you enjoyed it. I don't know about the American Hero stuff. But I do hope my wife reads your comment. Thank you Droptineful so much for watching. I always appreciate it.
Great tips! I have several hammocks from Dream Hammock and they are very comfortable. I agree with a hammock rejuvenating you after a long hiking day. A big difference from sleeping on the ground. I toss and turn on the ground but in a hammock I just sleep through the night.
Thank you for your service sir! I have severe sleep apnea and have found that I sleep better in a hammock than a tent. It’s not great but definitely better. Thank you for the tips sir!
Sleep apnea can be very challenging. I think it is great that you still are able to get out in the great outdoors. Thank you user-wc7th1in4p for watching. I really appreciate it.
Here in SE Louisiana the high ambient Temps have been 95 - 100° and add another 8 - 10° heat index so I haven't been hanging in my Onewind. But I'm looking forward to September/October (or a major downpour).
I hear you. It has been too hot for me here up north. The humidity has been stifling. I think we have a record for the most 90's for the year. And summer is still not over. I can't wait for fall. My favorite time of the year. Thank you Baronedipiemonte for watching. I really do appreciare it.
Another good video. Thanks for the tips. My Grandson and I are doing a hang on the AuSable River next week during a canoe camp. I will share these tips with him. I have my hammock dialed in. Sleep like a puppy!!!
Please let me know how your trip with your Grandson went. Those memories that you are giving him. He will remember for the rest of his life. And then past them down for generations.
Glad you like them! I always will raise the foot end a little higher on my gathered hammocks. Each one will very. Thank you always Rodoutdoors for watching. Much appreciated!
I think the woods are calling you to come out and hang on their trees. They love when people hang on them. Thank you John for watching. I really appreciate it.
This is a great video. I just bought some Superior Hear hammocks and need to learn how to sleep in them. The concept of “feet higher” makes more sense to me now. And your demonstration of how to use the whoopie sling helped a lot. I hate those things. But now I get how to use them.
I am glad it was helpful! You are going to love your Superior Hammock. They are pretty much bomb proof. Thank you john for watching. I really do appreciate it.
@BackpackingWithaHammock you're most welcome! Thank you for you help. I have a blood disease and have blood clots in my legs so my circulation sucks. So laying in my hammock keeps my legs elevated above my heart! So it's so good for me . After work everyday, I lay in my hammock for a few hours and it helps me tremendously. But. I am a side sleeper, so I've struggled to sleep in it. .. but hopefully after your tips, it may help accomplish that. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Hey Marine, I gave all that up for an AMOK. 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously good advice for the gathered-end hammock. Really the only way to get comfortable is to do these tips. Stay blessed
@@AdventureswiththeMarine I'm thinking you will love it. I still do gathered end when weight is top priority, and enjoy them, but for a couple pounds more I am willing to sacrifice other things to have the AMOK. I just sleep so much better overall
Great info... I wish I could use a hammock. I just don't get the sleep I need compared to an air mattress. An hour in the back yard is fine, just can't do it for too many hours...
I'm going to have a contractor install two connector points in one or two of the bedrooms when I have some other work done... hopefully soon. My air mattress gave up the ghost.
Good stuff sir! I have an adjustable Ridgeline coming my way Saturday! I cannot wait to play around with it. I also purchased a portable hammock stand. I got to tell you, I'm in love ❤️ I will feel even better once that Ridgeline is installed. So thank you once again!!!

First and foremost, Thank you for your service!!! Secondly, I've had a hammock now for about 3 years and had no idea there were adjustable ridgelines, I knew about the whoopie sling for suspension, but didn't know they used them for ridgelines. I'm definitely getting one of those. I sleep very well in my hammock, but always feel like I need just a bit more sag. That will help considerably I think!!! Thank you again for sharing and I appreciate the tips!!! -dave UPDATE: I just ordered one using your link!
I prefer a little bit of a sag in my hammock. I believe that will give you a more comfort. Now you will never want to get out of that hammock. Thank you SinchuwusOutside for using that link. I really do appreciate it.
Hi Marine you making alot of great Videos i enjoy it here in Germany to see. i have a Questin on you i want to buy a Suporior Hammock i am 182 cm high and i am not schore what is the rigt one for me. Sorry for my English
Hey Matine I watched an earlier video of yours and you mentioned how your ridge line stays the same attached to the hammock and keeps your hammock at the 30 degree angel. In this video does that include the adjustable ridge line? Can u point me to another one of your videos so my ridge line keep me at the 30 degree angle. Thanks for you videos keep them going👍🏜️
The 30° angle is for the hammock suspension for a hammock without a ridgeline. The ridgeline will give you the same sag in your hammock. No matter the angle of the suspension. Most ridgelines are fixed. But with a adjustable ridgeline. You can adjust the sag to your liking. I did a video on ridgeline that explains this better. Thank you Darrylweartpipingancamping for watching. I really appreciate it.
Good info marine! Really enjoy watching your videos for the informative instructions you provide. I’ve been wanting to try an Asymmetrical lay hammock but If I do I would be looking for a bug net and a double layer bottom so I could eliminate the under quilt for the majority of the year here in Texas. I was planning on sliding something like “reflectix” or even a inflatable mat between the layers to help with mosquitoes and wind. Any suggestion on where to look for such an animal?
Now remember that it is the shape of the bug net that makes the hammock asymmetrical. But then again. When you lie asymmetrical in the hammock. That also gives the shape. The two companies that cut there bug net either straight or asymmetrical is Dream Hammock and Dutchware Gear. And both, you can get a double layer. I know that Danny at Superior Gear is in the process of a asymmetrical bug net. But I don't believe he has one out yet. He dose have the hammock that I used in this video called the Starlite. It is a double layer. And also has that adjustable ridgeline and other cool things. I will be doing a review on it in two weeks. Thank you Doctoordan for watching. I really appreciate it.
A cheap thin inflatable sleeping pad made the biggest difference for me. Gives better form and comfort needn’t be anything expensive just a standard inflatable light sleeping pad and I was hooked for sleeping never again in a tent if anyway possible!

People that have sleep apnea have told me that with their upper body up. It helps stop the snoring that wakes them up. My daughter, who suffers from sleep apnea will sometime sleep in a recliner. And says that helps. Now by having the head end up ( like a recliner ) my help. I am no expert on the subject. Just trying to think logical. Thank you Ken for watching. I really appreciate it.
