    Great video. I really like the idea of doing the Marangu route with the extra day for acclimatization. Sleeping in huts instead of tents is a lot more appealing to me.

    Can’t wait to watch this. Your ‘documentaries’ are so great. Keep it up. You inspired me to do the Shimanami Kaido solo next month despite never riding a bike in 10 years; and I will trek the EBC one day too.

      I appreciate the kind words very much. That's so great about you going to Japan. Honestly on all the places I've gone biking the Shimanami Kaido may be my favorite memory. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you in terms of tips and tricks. After that you'll take on the EBC. Good for you!

      @@wordslikefire662 So I very recently completed the Shimanami Kaido and I would argue it had the some of the top landscape views I have seen across Japan. What a great experience. I also had a 'pale rider' equivalent (though my rental was a teal rider); though the saddle left me with a very sore ass at the end of it haha. Looking forward to your next adventure after this outbreak is over.

      @@mapo5959 I knew the pale rider had a cousin! That's terrific about your Japan trip. Honestly, looking back at all my travel the Shimanami Kaido may be my most memorable trip. It has me wanting to do more biking trips. Although I don't know if I'll find one as cool as SK. Have you heard of the Friendship Highway in Tibet. That is supposed to be wonderful as well. I've had to cancel trips to China and Argentina because of COVID-19. Once things calm down I can't wait to get back at it.

    Very well done. I did Kili by the Machame route where we stayed in very small tents, which was not good. I wish I had done Marangu for the shelters. It rained every day except the last day where it snowed/ sleeted, and we stayed wet the whole time. I'd like to go again and hike the Marangu so I can actually enjoy it. I liked the way you explained everything including the shelters. Since Kili I did Everest Base Camp and Inca Trail to MP, both of which I enjoyed more than Kili. Loved the tea houses in Nepal. I'll watch your Everest video next. Thanks again.

      Thanks. Sounds like you had a tough time with the weather. After the first few days I was able to avoid the rain. The huts definitely are very convenient. I'm curious to hear what you would have thought of Marangu. I loved EBC, it was amazing. You are right, the teahouses are great. I'm curious to know how my experience in Nepal stacks up to to yours. Thanks for watching!

    Hello! Very interesting movie and thank you! I hold you back with one question: what camera did you use to film? If you can guide me in this direction, thank you! I'm looking for a good camera for filming in the mountains and I don't know which one to buy. Thank you!

    • @wordslikefire662
      @wordslikefire662  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The main camera I used for this video was a Sony A7R3. I have two lenses. The A7R3 is a full frame camera but you can achieve really good results with smaller 3/4 frame cameras as well. Sony and Panasonic offers a lot of great options that aren't too expensive. I'm sure you will make the right choice. Good luck on your traveling and filming!

    • @wordslikefire662
      @wordslikefire662  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately solo isn't possible. You need to go through a trekking company. However You can choose to do a very light group. I reached out to a group that allowed me to simply go with a guide. And I'm glad I did since he was great. The guide also had a porter for him, but he didn't need to carry any of my things since I had all that in my bag. The group I used was tro peaks adventures. They are great.

    • @wordslikefire662

      I have done EBC. Overall, EBC was probably harder. But the final summit day on Kibo was harder than any single day on the Everest Base Camp trek. Kili was also much shorter to complete (5 days vs roughly 11 days).
