The 21st Century Huey in all its various incarnations is a pretty good model, but with a little creativity and above average modeling skills, one could easily turn this model into an exceptional one. A friend of mine took his completely apart. He put lights and two small motors into it to simulate start up. He didn't stop there. He put a complete sound system in his Huey to replicate the sound of start up. He utilized stereo speakers from a modern HO locomotive and how he got the whole affair in is just amazing. He said he would post a video of it. All these 21st Century/ BBI 1/18 & 1/6 aircraft can be fun to tool around with. Again, all one needs is a modeling skill set and perhaps time and patience. The Iroquois or Huey as it is commonly referred to was the first Helicopter fitted with high end weaponry. Rockets and grenade launchers, as well as hard points for 50 calibers on both sides of the ship. Very robust, fast and reliable, the Huey virtually gave American soldiers, Marines, NAVY and Air Force a leg up during the war in Nam. Yet, for all its unusual characteristics and flight capabilities, the war, for us was not going our way. UH-1 and its many types were the quintessential example of taking a basic flying machine and turning it into a war horse. One Helicopter I had hoped either 21st Century or BBI would manufacture in 1/18 scale, was Blue Thunder. The fictional Helicopter used in the movie bearing its name. Basically a modified French manufactured single turbine Gazelle. That Helicopter was exceptionally modified to create the ultimate police Helicopter. Their project: THOR....TACTICAL HELICOPTER OFFENSIVE RESPONSE was based somewhat on the threats existing from terrorism back in the 1980's. Though Blue Thunder looked and certainly sounded impressive, in reality it was a fictitious calamity of numerous heavy modifications. All of which ensured it couldn't fly. At least not in the conventional sense of the word. Still, I know quite a few ( including yours truly ) that would love to see a well constructed, well detailed model of Blue Thunder. Just put the blades on and viola, you're off to fight the bad guys. 21st Centuries Hughes 500 in 1/6 scale is big. Very big. The police version and the Calvary version are the two best in my opinion, but for one significant flaw. The rotor blades sagged too much after a few months time sittingbor hanging. My friend dealt with that too, by making metal blades. They actually look way better vs the plastic ones. He motorized that one too with a sound system, plus a working spot light/ night sun. I think the Huey is a beautiful Helicopter and on most peoples list of favorites. Hopefully, some company will acquire the various molds and remake them. 😎
The side pods being placed upside down is due to the builder putting them on the wrong side Beautiful model so I bought one of each version the 21st century sold. Great video!!

I wish they still made these. I bought a P-51D from Target I think back in 2007 or 2008 for my son and loved the detail especially for the price. They don’t make them like this anymore without paying a fortune. I think I paid $24 for the 1/32 scale Mustang I got. Now they’re going for $100 or more.

TheHumanMechanism MK2, if you are unhappy with your videos then by all means start afresh but I would suggest making a new one and seeing which is better. If you think you have improved on it significantly then go for new ones. I did however like the old format especially 'this is the Human Mechanism signing off' bit as that was definitely kool. So to sum up I would say Reinstate them ALL and move on to newer reviews from your 'display case of military and collectables, well you know what i mean LOL. For a while i was thinking "I don't have the time to review all your deleted ones as well, as I have too many of my own to get through. And having someone else reviewing 1/18 military stuff is like halving the work. Go on eBay or google Huey plastic model. The big 1/18 scale build it yourself version is about $80 and more than worth it when you see how finely detailed and big it is.
21st century closed up shop so the helis and figures they sold can be found on eBay from time to time. Or you can build it yourself way cheaper if you buy the hobbyboss version of it.

TheHumanMechanism MK2 a Huey Gunship only carried a crew of 4 (two pilots, door gunner and crew chief/ door gunner.) there was no bench seat with seatbelts in front of the bulkhead. We didn’t carry passengers because we couldn’t carry the extra weight and it was too dangerous for passengers. There were three variations of the B & C model Gunships. The standard gunship has two miniguns with 10,000 rounds of 7.62 ammo, two rocket pods with 14 rockets and two M-60 door guns with 1800 rounds of 7.62 for each gun. The “Hog” carried 48 rockets and two M-60 door guns, the “Frog” (as in your video) had the 40mm belt fed grenade launcher with a box in the middle of the rear crew area for the belted 40mm grenades, 14 rockets and two M-60 door guns. A side note, helicopter crews always wore long sleeves and nomex gloves in case of fire. PS, the early version of the Gunship had two flex guns (M-60s) on each side instead of miniguns. Door gunner, Rebel Guns, 1st Avn. Bn, 1st Infantry Div. Nam 67/68
