Great video Tim. I'm monetized, but the money I'm getting is quite small and it takes -2-3 months to hit the payment threshold. I've not really thought of trying to earn more as I didn't start the channel for that, in fact I was three months in before someone told me you could earn money. However, at 64, I'm certainly looking at it as a possible way to help toward retirement, so it's an area I'll take heed of. At the moment though, my channel is still tiny, and I believe what you said to be true. Making decent videos will decide whether my channel will grow big enough to look at developing an income in the future. Thanks for your support as always.
Glad you're taking us to Rome with you, thanks! This is what I call a safe channel, free from all the madness that is often presented on TH-cam. I recently cancelled my membership because I felt it was getting to clicky and political which wasn't what I signed up for. That said, I would be happy to support you through becoming a member 😊
That seems like a great monthly income. I know from watching various utube channels it takes a lot of time too. Also a lot of technology! Congratulations on reaching your number of subscribers in a short time!
I so appreciate you sharing your TH-cam experiences!!! You shed so much hope for those of us where our TH-cam channel’s just don’t grow. I’ve been creating video content for 5 years and in the past two years, I’m finally committing to a couple videos a month with a few shorts. I do get about 3-8 subscribers a month, but I just not sure what to do differently. I guess I post because I love to share. I’m thinking about doing a live and after hearing your advice with super chats, it bring some more interest. If you have any advice, I so appreciate it. Thanks again for your channel! I hope when I retire, I can have a similar following like you. -Scott - The Quilting Camper
The Chattanooga Tourism Council should definitely be paying you. You have shown a lot of good spots to visit. One caveat to what you said about expanding your youtube content to gain more subscribers - some of the channels i follow have started to add extensive cooking content which i find boring as heck and hard to sit through. I want to be supportive of the channel but find it hard to find the patience to view the whole video. So it may add viewers but also lose some as well if you go to far afield from the original purpose of the channel.
I didn't realize you already have designers set up. Was going to let you know my SIL and daughter work at a place in WI. He designs, she does multiple jobs- the company screen prints clothing, banners, table covers, flags etc. Cheers! 🎉 😊
Thanks for the down to earth approach, observations and insights into your various endeavors. While being a content creator is intriguing, I seem to prefer being a content consumer. I had a blog 20 years ago, and while I often enjoyed the finished product and feedback, the weekly deadline was nerve racking. Peace - John
Great Video Tim. I'm Sure there are "Many" Out There that Find this Very " Informative." There are ALOT of " Possibilitie's " as well as " Advantage's " of Having a Channel. With Super-Chat's, You Only Receive a % Right ? ? You Explained Everything Quite Well. 👍🏻
I got my first requests at less than 250 subs. Some of it is niche dependent.... I did Asoko lights and I've also done another brand that had a hedge trimmer/grass clipper thing. Both reached out to me and happened to be stuff I could use easily. One found me through a collaboration I used to join, the other.... I don't know? They said they liked my garden tours.
Ask them very politely and tell them in what way you would present your findings. Will you sound positive and objective, even if you don't like the product? - just because you don't like it doesn't mean someone else won't. So 'sell' yourself with words, make them want to send you a product. That's the way I did it and I wasn't making up stuff just to convince them to send me product either. ❤❤❤
This was really interesting! I have chosen to not monetize my channel at this time, but I may at some point. I was worried that adding in money “pressure” may take some of the fun out of it.
Really enjoy it when you travel. Hey Go Pro, he needs some fancy cameras! I love 360 immersive VR tours of the world, you might consider getting into that someday. Maybe they will set you up to share your adventures the best way!
Another interesting topic and discussion around it, Tim. I’m not sure what I could build a channel about, but I understand the benefits and opportunities. I’m one of those Jack of all trades, master of none people. 😁
I want super stickers!🤣☘☕🎃🎄 I do make good chocolate cookies! 🍪 I have also practice on my sister and daughter being their 🧹🗑packing and decluttering coach. Joan
Ps . Well done for mentioning Tax …..I. The UK. There’s been a change in the law and the Inland Revenue ( the people who collect taxes) now have the right to get data from Utube, EBay etc etc on who is selling what, who is making money, so that can make sure everyone is paying tax on their income 🙄 I would hate it if someone super creative got caught just because they didn’t know….. I don’t know how the US (or anywhere else for that matter ) handles this issue? Maybe you can do a video on what taxes you have to pay? Though it might be too boring for many !!!! Thanks again …..
I’ve only done something like that once. I joined a Patreon account of a photography podcast for $5 a month. I got an extra podcast each week with interviews of various photographers. It was great for a while. Then I just didn’t have time to listen enough to keep it up. :)

Great video. I love your approach to TH-cam and life in general.
Very insightful, once again! Can't wait to see the new logo and merch.
Love your videos and supporting content creators. I think that's my role. I don't think my skin is thick enough to "put myself out there." 😅

How do you get an affiliate to send you something to review? Does that come with more subscribers and views?
Was " w🤔ndering "
about that as well.
For the most part, yes. But I’ve had some affiliate offers that came because I asked.

We get sent a 1099 something or other for a self owned business. Everything is reported to the IRS.
I would only start a TH-cam channel if I had a pet. The pet would be the focus of the channel.
That would be perfect!
❤😊
I've seen the memberships. I always wonder if you really get what you pay for, whatever that is.

I think I just watched a 16:25 commercial for TH-cam! 😮 Not my cup of tea. I’m perfectly happy doing retirement things. Thanks anyway.
What happens if the viewer skips the ad?
Not much. I wouldn’t notice a difference in revenue. :). Skip away!
