Chapter 4:Rovaniemi We found Aurora!
Winter in March 2023, we travelled to North Europe countries of Aurora Northern Lights. Our destination are Lofoten Islands in Norway and Rovaniemi in Finland hoping to see Aurora or Northern Lights as what it is called!

Day 10:
Arrived at Helsinki Olympia Terminal after a night cruising with Silja Symphony. From the Olympia Terminal we took taxi, the fastest way to Vantaa Airport to take flight to Rovaniemi. At Rovaniemi we took taxi to our Airbnb in the city centre.
Day 11:
Rent a car at Hertz's office in the city centre.
Hunting Aurora at Artikum at night.

Lucky enough to see Aurora aka Northern Lights 4 out of 5 nights without joining the Aurora Tour. That save us a lot of money. Even though the light was not that strong but we were happy enough to find one.
As our initial plan was to take bus, so we did not plan to travel out of Rovaniemi such as to Kemi, Ranua, Inari etc etc. Nevertheless our time spent in Rovaniemi was awesome and no regret.
P/S And 2 days before our arrival, our Airbnb host told us the bus operation was close due to a strike.
The weather was stable even though it was very very cold. The coldest was around -23C. We found Rovaniemi city centre is always colder than Santa Claus Village.
When the temperature reached -5C the Finnish tends to call it Summer.
TIPS:
1)Rent car …easy to move in cold freezing weather.
2)Hotel/Cabin with kitchen is an advantage so can cook as finding restaurant is not easy and expensive
3)Knowing the standard taxi fare will help you not to overpay.
4) Buffet in Rovaniemi OK
5)Always check the weather forecast
6)Alcoholic drinks can only be bought before certain time. Check it out from the store. Sometimes passport is required
