Hey man, thanks for doing this stuff. I'm a guitar player, grew up on rock and roll but now at the ripe age of 65, enrolled in music school and am starting to study the instrument in it's full capacity. My teacher is just starting into basic flamenco rhythms which involve percussion on the body of the guitar which is cool but now I am wanting to do a lot more with percussion. Went out yesterday and bought a set of bongos that look exactly like these. Did the set up with your other video and now on to laying down some basic rhythms. It's really good for musicians to spend some time playing some form of percussion, especially if they are sight readers. I have always known this groove but never by name
I'm just in love with you and your classes! I just bought my first bongo and I'm enjoying so much! Pure connexion through video! Thank you so much! Regards from Brazil!
I got the tycoon ritmo beginner bongo for 3 kings. I love it. Can't wait to practice more. My family likes to get together and play with different instruments.
Kalani looooove playing martillo just goes crazy with my freestyle bongo drumming that I can do now since being professional & just loooove adding to it!!! I may be extremely advanced professional but it is always good to refresh your skills that you know as well as finding worm up exercises to do!!!
Nice! I've always wanted to learn bongos and just ordered a set for my 59th birthday. I look forward frequenting your videos to learn how to become, I have no idea, but I look forward to it. Thank you.
I am a Ukulele teacher and have a channel on here and have been thinking about picking up some kind of hand percussion instrument. I live in Medellín, Colombia, wife dragged me to the mall, came home with bongos, your channel has made me a fanatic in 15 minutes. To videos in and I am ready to learn more!!! Thank you, awesome, love it. Subbed for sure. Maybe we can link up and do something with ukulele and percussion in the future.
You went to the mall and came home with bongos, I went to throw out the trash and came back in the house with two coffee cans. Now they're taped together. Ok for now.
On the basics lesson you said to drum the larger drum in the centre but on this video you are drumming on the outer rim. The sound is much better on the outer rim. What was the reason behind using only the centre in the basics lesson?
I thought i had it down pat but i was wrong. On another video I saw, I realised that the thumb had to stay down when the right hits the marcho. I was lifting the thumb and not realised I had to dampen the sound.
Hey Kalani, brother I have a dilemma with conga skins. I use pearl elite wood fiber drums but the sizes of the head are weird. Remo says the skins for the Quinton are 11.06 but the crown on my Quinto measures 10.75. I could just get a 10.75 but then I’m concerned the d hoop won’t fit it. Do you have knowledge on this one man’s have you heard of it before? It’s got me stumped. Thanks brother
This basically the same sound, is not the same sound? Beginner here. I mean, the Latin way of playing it differ regarding your lesson? Or and that could be, I am deaf? Love the lesson by the way. Thank you much. A. One more thing to share as a complete beginner. Day third on bongo I realized that the second part second half of the bongo is the cowbell and that the bongos is a bongo { 2 drums} plus cowbell and that I usually use only the half of the instrument at the time?
BEST bongo lessons. The guy with the soul patch. That's all I remember haha to find this channel. The red and blue logo and the bald guy with the soul patch. Now I'm at least playing bongos at open mics haha.
Good afternoon, dear friend. I have a Bongo series of the Generation II LP, I do not play very often on this skin on the bongs I let go after the game. But the last time I started to hear a crash when pulling on the skin. I understand the crack is obtained because of the rubbing of the skin on the membrane of bongos. Is it possible to damage the membrane? Do I need to lubricate the wooden membrane of bongs? Or to grease a skin? Is there a benefit? Article? how to do it ?
All the other tutorials I have watched don't use the open tone on the macho on the "2" count. Is this an adaptation? Also, I notice some players slide across the skin on the muted tones instead of just going from thumb to fingers. Is this just a style thing?
It seems like you have the macho tuned to F4 and the hembra to G4. Is that correct? If not, what would you recommend as correct? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Hello and thanks for sharing these videos on the bongos. I'm a former long ago drummer in fact my last acoustic shell set was a really nice maple wood Gretchen set. But anyway. I would like to ask if you could listen to the percussionist on a recent recordings from Mario Biondi the song is , This what you are and watch the bongo player if you can and tell me what that rythem is he's playing. I'm really interested in what that is. It also sounds like it's the off beat rythem, thanks . And again thanks for sharing these great lessons.
I'm supposed to study for an exam but here I am watching bongo lessons, worth it!

That soul patch must be the reason his bongo beats can touch my soul
Originated in Africa...
Then it traveled throughout the world 🌎
What a soulful sound the bongo/congo makes.

I've found a bongo so instead of trowing it in the trash can I started playing it. Your lessons are amazing, good job, thank you
Club Libro Why would you even think about throwing them in trash to begin with?
Nice! I've always wanted to learn bongos and just ordered a set for my 59th birthday. I look forward frequenting your videos to learn how to become, I have no idea, but I look forward to it. Thank you.
