I like Syrax and Caraxes designs but I LOVE Drogon. I think it’s the best dragon design ever put on screen. The HOTD dragons look more regal and beautiful, like something out of a kids fantasy movie…Drogon looks legitimately terrifying. When you get up close he looks so grotesque and gritty, it feels like if dragons were ever real that’s what they looked like…you feel like you’re looking at a real, wild animal that actually existed. Whatever breed Drogon is, that’s my favorite, it translates better to the screen. His scales and spikes make rhe CGI harder to detect and make him look more realistic. But I’m definitely not complaining about the new ones. Drogon was just iconic
I think drogon''s design is just as regal to be honest just look at 0:27 especially his horns and the way his frills would ripple when he breathed fire
Bruh it's just been one episode wtf, there are tons of dragons missing. Also there are different species of Dragons. This be the same people complaining about every episode of series 🤣🤣
Shaquille no one’s complaining? We’re talking about the CGI of the dragons in the comments of a video describing the comparison between the dragons lol. I know there are 15 dragons missing, I know there are different breeds…that doesn’t change that I like drogons design. I loved the episode too, not complaining about that either. So I’m not really sure what you’re talking about
@@domcagney2352 exactly plus we probably won't see all the dragons anyway, it would be nice to see how balerion was, if we think these dragons are big 😂 man how huge that thing must've been
We have to take into consideration that Caraxes and Syrax aren't exactly as free as Drogon was It was hinted even in the show that Dragons kept in captivity for too long will eventually stunt their grow as seen with Viserion and Rhaegal whilst Drogon was flying free and exploring and feeding on everything he could see But also the Dance of the Dragons hasn't exactly started yet so I'm sure both dragons will grow even larger
Drogon was less than 10 years old by season 8 of GOT. So 🤷🏾♂️ King Robert Baratheon died 298AC Denaerys died 305AC so I will guess Drogon was only about 7 years old.
@@enixword2637 so in essence, Danny’s Dragons were all over-expressed in size by the show runners cos all three were damn big at 7-10. They say a Dragon never stops growing so I am wondering the size they could have been at 180- 200 yrs. Probably 10 times the sizes of Vhagar and Balerion respectively?😂
@@pc9086 i think they maybe are fast growing early in thier lives and then slows. Drogon is probably balerion descent that’s y he is so big (and his brothers too)
The valyrians bred the dragons with fire wyrms and sothoryos wyverns. People say ceraxes is deformed but people also think he just has mostly fire wyrm genes. He doesnt have the wyvernish looking traits the other dragons do. They assumed he was deformed, and also assumed he couldnt fly without his leg wings, wich i dont know how theyd know that for sure, but thats mostly speculation. But yeah i tend to go with the fire wyrm theory, his name is also the blood wyrm. His color, long neck and voice are cool. It reminds me of king ghidora a little bit.
Drogon was a free dragon so it grew faster and was most likely bigger. Remember that the pit stunted dragon growth and eventually was the downfall of them
Drogon cannot be bigger than Caraxes. It's impossible because dragons never stop growing and they older they are, the bigger they get. Drogon was a few years old, at most around 7-8, while Caraxes is around 40 right now, and will grow even bigger (at the time of his death he will be over 60 years old). As for Syrax, she is more or less around Drogon's age, so she is either comparable in size or most probably a little bit smaller (due to the factor that you mentioned - her residing in the pit). However at the moment of her death she will be over 30 and considered "large and formidable", therefore she will surely outgrow Drogon's current size.
@@Kitanana1 the older they are the bigger they get cause they don’t stop growing but like human and a lot of living things. Maybe Dragons don’t all grow at the same rate. They may never stop, but one may grow twice as fast as another which could make it possible for drogon to be the same size.
@@semajbrown259 Still it's impossible for Drogon to be bigger than Caraxes, the age gap is too big. Caraxes was always considered a huge and fearsome dragon, only half the size of Vhagar who was the biggest dragon of her time (only Balerion was bigger than her). If Drogon reaches 40-60 he might be as big as Caraxes was or even bigger, but for now there is dozens of years of difference between them. Even if Drogon's growth rate was twice as fast as that of Caraxes, it's impossible for him to be larger than a 40 year old dragon if he is only 7.
Drogon's design is top tier. Syrax is very very cute. I am thinking that Balerion looked like what Drogon did due to the skull shape. I wonder what vhagar and meraxys looked like
im pretty sure we saw vhagar in the trailer no? I thought vhagar was the one that looked massive with some holes in the wings. Look up the last trailer for house of the dragon
caraxes was larger and the reality is in GoT they upscaled the dragons for theatrical purposes. also by looking at how big jon is to drogons face and how daemon looks next to caraxes in the pre time skip caraxes is larger and will get larger at the end of the show.
even adult dragons are continuously growing. I love Drogon and his look but I really would hope there are several dragons that are bigger than Drogon on House of the Dragon - Ceraxes, Meleys, Vermithor, not to mention Vhagar who came the closest in size to Balerion.
You have to take into account that there's supposed to be three more time skips (most likely a 25 years) during this season so they might get a lot bigger
@@Bitchslapper316 Yeah I was about to say. Drogon is like 7-8 years old. So imagine if he was 30 years old. I imagine that in HoD, Royal Targaryens get their dragon eggs when they are born, so they grow up together
@@rhyeamwatson3695 Yeah he would be massive. Even at his young age in season 8 he was still as big as many of the old dragons. He also was able to grow up unchained and free to do whatever. I always thought he may have been the offspring of "The Cannibal".
@@morisakarleign3014 I say the show starts with Jon living happily in the north then goes to Drogon bringing Dany to be resurrected. That's what will kick things off in a huge way.
People also need to remember that the dragons kept in captivity grew smaller than those who lived in the wild. Drogon went away for a while which may explain the growth spurt..?
GoT made the dragons very big for a wow-effect. Drogon is barely big enough to ride in the books. HOTD has more book accurate sizes, they will also grow for 28-ish years before the Dance begins.
in season 5 Drogon is also barely big enough to ride and that’s where the books end right now so very similar. ofc season 7 and 8 are way too big but i guess drogon season 6 is a good comparison as to what size drogon should realistically be at the end of the books
Finally people are getting this! Drogon was scaled waaay up because the writers wanted to give Dany an ultimate weapon and intensify the end of the series. GOT was supposed to last for much longer than 8 seasons, allowing the three dragons to grow more steadily/accurately. Caged up or not, there's no way Drogon would be the size of a 60 year old dragon after just 5-7 years.
@@Souzz__ They. Were. Exagerrated. That was NOT their "true" size. It was their "let's spend a fuckton of money to wow the crowd so they hopefully overlook our butchery of a beloved book series" overcompensation in size.
I always figured Drogon got massive so fast because he was free to roam where he wanted. We know he ate peoples live stock so he had access to food whenever he wanted. He also wasnt chained up in the pyramid like his siblings so it just gave him for time to grow while the other two got stunted. This is just a theory of mine but Drogon might be the same type of dragon as Balerion. The shap of their skulls and locations of spikes are way too similar to not be connected.
No he was big because the show had to speed up his actual size to make it look right in the show. In reality he was only 7 years old by the time he was born and Danerys died.
I personally love how they have made them more individual in this series and not generic like GOT did. You could barely tell them apart as the colour differences was minuscule
technically syrax and bloodwyrm (and most dragons during the time) are held “captive”, unable to roam freely which stunts dragon growth right? Drogon was never held captive like that, so his growth has to exponential
Caraxes is old & still growing. First episode caraxes is bigger than drogon. 2nd episode caraxes gotten bigger & year later. That shot at dragon stone is a great scale for comparison. By the battle of gods eye, caraxes was half the size of vhagar. Drogon isnt even half the size of vhagar. But even then caraxes even tho wasnt as big as vhagar still had the upperhand. But at the end of it. They both died
@@Alejojojo6 I meant that Drogon will eventually outgrow Caraxes since Drogon is technically still alive (and at age 7 is very big) while caraxes died (technically young)
@@DatVo-tl2dw Yes but everything that happens in got after season 5 is not cannon, so I wouldnt go by the size of Drogon in the last season. The show runners had no idea what they are doing and scaled drogon up way too much for a 7 year old dragon.
Syrax is diff from drogon. Look at the wings, it goes down to the base of the tail unlike drogon, their wings stops at their mid sides. Even the head are different
Out of all the dragonriders...I feel Dany had a stronger connection to her dragons. She raised them alone without the help of any dragonpit or something Drogon was magnificent and with the bond he had with Dany...it was like he was unstoppable. I believe he will be bigger than Vhagar or Balerion because he is now a free dragon able to grow
What blows my mind and also the reason why I REALLY want to see him in the show is that despite how big Drogon is Balerian STILL towers over him. I hope they do a flashback of him or something I really wanna see the size of that absolute behemoth of a dragon
Well Vhagar is nearly as big as Balerion at this point in time and in the books it’s said she could swallow a horse whole so that should give you an idea of how big Balerion was
@@lucasbelmonte2832 that’s true, I remember in the books that Vhagar was the smallest of the 3 original Targaryen dragons around Balerion’s time since was the youngest so it would makes sense that now she’s close to Balerion’s size. It would just haunt me knowing there’s a possibility that Balerion might STILL be bigger😭
What's crazy is that Balerion was still small in Valyria standards. The largest dragons in Old Valeryia were at least 5 times bigger than Balerion at his largest.
Guys gotta remember the actual Dance of the Dragons hasn't begun yet, and there's still a time jump to come in the show, so both Syrax and Caraxes will be even larger again. I would also like to point out that both dragons were formidable, fearsome and deadly mounts for their riders during the Dance and I honestly don't think that either of Danys dragons would of lasted long in a fight against either of these 2 at their peak, purely based on battle experience alone, size doesn't even come into it. (If you know you know). Vhagar was one of the most deadly dragons (ridden first by Queen Visenya during Aegons conquest and if they follow storyline then currently Aemond Targaryen for the Dance) and is also a she-dragon and she was responsible for killing many battle experienced dragons and riders, and was, in my opinion, the most pivotal dragon in Aegons conquest (and the Dance), taking many towns and cities and turning the tide many times just by her presence alone as many feared her, and not just the people either. If you really want to talk about size, I can't wait to see Vhagar onscreen because she was said to have grown to be as big as what Balerion was at the time of his death at the end of Aegons Conquest, by the time the Dance begins. (As she was the only one of the 3 original Targaryen dragons who survived the conquest and lived to see the Dance) and just seeing how people went on about Balerions skull size and "how big he must have been" and "how big Drogon could have been", well if House of the Dragon follows the story and I don't see why they shouldn't (since Aemond has been cast and that was her rider during the Dance) then when we will finally see Vhagar/a dragon finally capable of living up to the name. Vhagar, the Terror of the Trident! Also, not sure how they can't have her in it because some serious sh*t happens towards the end with one of the main characters and she's prettttty pivotal in that too so 🤣🤣 (if you know you know lol) which also goes back to size doesn't matter.
She's not as big as Balerion she's probably the same size as Balerion When Aegon Targaryen conquered 6 of the 7 kingdoms Balerion is & always will be the biggest Dragon ever & Balerion died in his sleep due to old age which means he was the strongest cause not many dragon's get to pass on in peace cause they would usually die in battle.
Size does matter when Dragons battle because since they can't kill each other with their fire it would be their brute strength that they would rely on to beat the other dragons. Balerion is first as he was the biggest dragon in GoT and Drogon is 2nd because of his size, strength, and since he is still alive at the end of GoT he could get even bigger!
@@ishmael_03 it's not all about size 🙄 if you think so you clearly never read any of the books, yeah it helped *sometimes but it wasn't everything (how did Vhagar die?) Because it could also be a hindrance. Also, Drogon wasn't the 2nd biggest dragon, not even close you clearly ignored every thing I wrote. He was much smaller than Vhagar and even Meraxes, who was bigger than Vhagar was in her prime (the beginning of the conquest Meraxes was not much smaller than Balerion) the order of size of the 3 original Targaryen dragons when they FIRST came to Westeros for the CONQUEST was Balerion, Meraxes then Vhagar. Meraxes was unfortunately slain and Balerion grew old and feable and Vhagar continued to grow into the fearsome battle beast people continued to fear until the day she died and she was KNOWN to be the LARGEST living dragon and to have MATCHED Balerion in size by the time of her death. MEANING VHAGAR was the largest dragon of HER time and also alongside BALERION!! Seriously how hard is that to comprehend and understand for you lot? Probably because most of you are just GoT fanatics and literally haven't read a word of the literature and literally don't know or just refuse to realise that Vhagar who was Balerions sister for all intents and purposes, could possibly have matched his "greatness". Yes for a lot of people it was HER who was the one who turned the tide many times and was the key to Aegons conquest being successful NOT Balerion, the only reason Balerion gets the recognition is because he was the one ridden by Aegon. Also to even think for a second that Drogon or any of Danys dragons hold a flame to even any of the OG Targaryen dragons, is a joke. Danys dragons are literally children, immature children (literally) who if they even went into a real battle against a real battle experienced war dragon like Vhagar, they would of gone down in a pile. Ive said it before and ill say it again, its not ALL about size, its about experience as well, because sometimes size can be a hindrance whether it be big or small. Vhagar used her size and experienced many times against her younger opponents, yet when they used their size against her (meaning their speed because they were quicker as she was LARGER, bigger isn't always better) she would use her EXPERIENCE to then defeat them, depending on the WEATHER, she would use her size then with the wind as a stronger wind current carries a bigger body/wings quicker than a smaller body. A larger dragon isn't necessarily a "better" dragon. I've already said, Balerion was all but usless in the last few years of his life and couldn't barely even fly, he hadn't fought for many years and didn't have the battle experience as an older dragon like Vhagar did, she knew exactly how to take down the young ones and she did it well, not only because she was battle hardened from over probably thousands of battles at this point but she had the EXPERIENCE to do so. Thats part of the reason she was used during the Dance, she should of been retired like Balerion was at the end of his days, but the "Greens" needed an advantage and she was it and she definitely gave it to them. Stop trying to act like a Dragon whose only like a year old in the books and was what not even 10 by the end of the tv series, is even in the same league as any of the dragons from the Dance. Especially a dragon who was 180 years old (you do realise that definitely means shes bigger in dragon terms right? I mean is that simple enough for you?) Until GRRMartin actually finishes his work, we won't ever see the true full potential of any of Danys dragons, because spoiler alert, they're ALL still alive in the book. For all we know just because of what D&D did to the show, Martin could decide to completely nuke Drogon and have the other 2 take the spotlight. Which wouldn't surprise me at all.
It would be great if you do a follow up vid of any new dragon, and if possible, the breed and comparison to Dany's. Maybe a whole vid at the end of the season or a short vid explaining the lineage or species of Meleys, Vhagar, or Arrax once they debut. As always, awesome vid man!
For those who want to know more about Caraxes. SPOILER * * * * * * * * "In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, Caraxes was one of the older and larger dragons during the Dance of the Dragons. His scales were colored red, leading to him being called "the Blood Wyrm". Daemon Targaryen rode Caraxes in his frequent campaigns in the Stepstones. As a result Caraxes was not only one of the larger dragons during the Dance, but possibly the most battle-hardened and experienced in war. Indeed, only Vhagar had ever been ridden in major wars before, due to the eighty years of peace the realm had enjoyed since King Maegor the Cruel died - and Vhagar, while formidable, had not been used in combat in the years leading up to the Dance, the way that Caraxes was. Opposing armies were known to often simply flee when Caraxes approached. When Rhaenyra captured King's Landing in a surprise attack, Daemon rode Caraxes in the assault while Rhaenyra rode Syrax. Later in the war, Aegon II's younger brother Aemond Targaryen resorted to a one-man war riding Vhagar, burning out much of the Riverlands. Daemon hunted him for a long time on Caraxes, aided by the dragonrider Nettles on Sheepstealer, but eventually he returned alone to Harrenhal (which Vhagar had burned out earlier in the war) waiting as a challenge for Aemond to arrive. Caraxes was formidable but Vhagar was twice his size, nearly as large as Balerion had been during the War of Conquest. Facing him alone was the only way to draw Vhagar out, however, as Aemond had avoided ambushes by multiple other dragons. Aemond arrived, exchanged his final challenges to Daemon, then both took to the air on their dragons. The resulting Battle Above the Gods Eye was one of the most epic dragon-versus-dragon fights of the entire civil war, as two of the greatest living dragons fought in the air. Their shrieks shattered every remaining window in the castle and could be heard for miles around. Their fire-breath filled the sky so that fishermen in the lake thought that the whole sky was aflame. In the end, Caraxes dove down from the sun on Aemond's blind side (due to his missing eye). Caraxes slammed into Vhagar and they both continued to fight in free fall. Vhagar tore out Caraxes's belly, and used her massive jaws to rip one of his wing-arms completely off - but Caraxes sank his teeth into Vhagar's throat and maintained a death grip. As the two dragons grappled, Daemon rose from his saddle and made a stunning mid-air leap from his dragon to Aemond on Vhagar's back. Wielding the Valyrian steel sword Dark Sister (which had once been carried by Vhagar's previous rider, Visenya Targaryen, Daemon thrust his blade through Aemond's empty eye socket - the force of his impact as he landed driving the sword through the back of Aemond's head. Both dragons plummeted into Gods Eye below. Nothing could have survived the fall and nothing did: Caraxes had ripped out Vhagar's throat and she bore the brunt of the impact, killing her. Daemon's corpse was never found, but Aemond's was found years later with Dark Sister still thrust through it. Caraxes, somehow, was still alive after his massive injures and the fall, but not for long. Missing a wing and with his intestines trailing behind him out of his open belly, he somehow found the strength to pull himself out of the lake onto the shore, where the dragon soon died before the walls of Harrenhal. The battle was a heavy blow for both Rhaenyra's and Aegon II's factions: each side lost one of their greatest champions, as well as each side's strongest dragon. The world has not seen their like again."
Yeah, Drogon and his brothers in GoT I feel got a much better CGI team and design. The new Dragons are, for the most part, still impressive but the CGI seems a lot more... noticeable? Or just, it's too shiny. And not like a natural shiny but, a CGI shiny (if you know you know)
I love how each of them look different even Drogon looks different to Syrax. Caraxes and Syrax have longer necks, the tail is also different for both and Caraxes also has little wings on his legs
I love Drogon's design and I hope that Vermithor looks just like him, only bigger and a different colour but Syrax and Caraxes will grow larger by the end of the first season, maybe they both double in size.
I think Drogon's design might be that of Vhagar, but can't be certain yet. Syrax and Caraxes will DEFINATELY grow larger. Specially Syrax, who is still fairly young.
@@MasterOfTheElements Robust in the sense that even Drogon looks fragile. Wider/thicker head and jaws, thicker horns, more muscular arms/wings, and beefier legs. If Vermithor was as big as Vhagar, make her look weak; that level of robust.

There is an image going around that compares the size of all the dragons (I imagine based on the books). According to that image, Syrax is about 3/4 the size of Caraxes, and Drogon is about 1/4 the size of Syrax. That's probably too impractical to recreate in the series.
That´s a valid point. Maybe they also used their final sizes for that chart since in DoD there are a lot of big timeskips so all the dragons will have a lot of time to grow. Since however dragons don´t stop growing in Martin´s universe, and Drogon is still very much alive he could end up becoming the biggest of them all in the unknown future.
Caraxes is in another league, he is an epic dragon, he should not be valued for his size but for his character, and I assure you that, for the Sanguine Wyvern, the size of what he has in front of him does not matter. Drogon would do well not to enrage him if he doesn't want to die.
Lol vhagar is Soo overrated. He was so old and sluggish when he fought caraxes. He's all size not much else. Caraxes couldn't even wipe out the crabfeeder lol. Drogon wiped out kinglanding at just 8. And it was said that he is balerions incarnation. So idk what you're on about mate. Caraxes would get booted
@@brentleysadiki358 caraxes couldnt kill the crabfeeder because he was hiding in caves. Drogon couldn't have done that either. Drogon at 8 would lose to every dance of the dragons dragon that wasn't raised primarily in the dragon pit.

Caraxes is by far my favorite, what I find strange is that Dragon, Caraxes and Syrax have really different anatomy, Dragon is closer to Syrax than Caraxes but his head is still really different. I don't know the reason of this choice, in the book all the dragons are from the same specie, the only differences are size and colour so ... but it is true that we have different draw of Balerion that are sometimes closer to Dragon and other to Caraxes (both in the series) so ... The other point is that Caraxes is approximatively 30-40 years old while drogon is only around 20 years old, but 1) dragons are growing relatively slowly 2) drogon was free while Caraxes was in Fossedragon so ... For me it is a relatively good representation
Important note everybody, Syrax from the first epidosed is indeed small however, by the dance of the dragons it gets waaaay larger as 16 years have passed approximately
@@VitchAndVorty Syrax was the closest thing they had to a golden dragon at the time so that's likely why Harrold Westerling called her that. Shes typically described as being a yellow she dragon. Learning more about Sunfyre would be spoilers for the show so I would caution against searching up info on them.
Can't believe people in the comments saying Drogon looked better or had a better CGI design. Lol. The first thing that stood out to me in hotd was the better designs for the dragons. Caraxes and Syrax looks definitively better than the dragons from the last show. They have more details. Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion barely had any distinct features to them. As a matter of fact, if not for reading I wouldn't have even known that the 3 of them actually had colors. Its barely recognizable when you watch. Unlike this series where Caraxes red skin is easily noticed. Same with Syrax.
True, the GOT dragons were all alike, most probably because they are from the same batch of eggs laid by a dragon that was a descendant of Balerion. Caraxes was of a different breed and was deformed. While Syrax was yet another breed. The showrunners have confirmed three different breeds of dragons here.
@@mindq4328 Yeah, Drogon is still my favorite overall based on his actions but in terms of design he's beneath these dragons from the show. I'd like to know what are the distinct features of those 3 breeds though. I'll try to check them out.

supposably they were bred from sothoryos wyverns and fire wyrms, people claim ceraxes is deformed, but some also claim he just has mostly fire wyrm genes. Wich is kind of a cool theory. It was also assumed he was deformed, and wouldnt by able to fly without his leg wings. Both of these claims are just guesses, because he was unique looking, if he truely had a deformation it would only get worse and worse the older and as he grew wich doesnt happen at all, he grows strong enough to kill vhagar but dies himself. 1:31 why do people think Khaleesi is her name? It's a title! Saying "when Jon Snow met khaleesi for the first time" is like saying "when Ned met king (referring to bobby b) for the first time." Her name is DAENERYS and if you must refer to her as "khalessi" the word "the" is essential!
The original GOT dragons look Hugely more detailed and Wayy more fierce than any of the current dragons shown in the new series...Hopefully, there will be some of that same breed turning up... Nothing yet compares to those GOT dragons!
Drogon definitely grew a little too fast for the timespan in the show. No way a 3-4 year old dragon would be that big, especially compared to Caraxes who is already on his second Dragonrider
It actually makes sense for Drogon to be much larger than Caraxes as we know based on what’s been stated in the books that dragons can have their growth stunted if kept under close quarters which during Caraxes and Syrax time they were being held in the dragon pit. Drogon was free so he was able to develop more quickly because he was free feeding himself throughout the series. Unlike Drogon’s siblings, he hadn’t been kept chained up for a year under the pyramids. It’s actually implied that keeping the dragons enclosed was part of the reason for their downfall.
@@savannahgomez404 according to the books drogon was much smaller. The only reason why he was that big is because they wanted a bigger dragon In season 6-8.
@@qrunner3583 according to the books, Drogon was only 7 years a of age though. So based on Drogon still being alive he is in fact going to be the biggest dragon because balerion continued to grow throughout his whole life and died at old age which we can similarly expect for Drogon. He leaves at the end of the series unarmed, so he’ll most likely live till old age too.
GRRM in his books made clear that dragons created in the wild would always outgrow the "domestic" ones. HOTD dragons lived entirely with humans or the dragon pit, so they probably will match sizes with Rhaegal and Viserion. Besides Vhagar and a few older ones, no one on this series should match Drogon's size (because Drogon lived almost entirely in free spaces)
This is correct but you’re disregarding age. If you’re going off book material Caraxes should be significantly larger than Drogon was at the end of GOT
There is a handful of dragons that have riders that will show up in hotd that do not live in the dragon pit that are bigger than drogon. For one syrax is smaller than drogon. Not too small. But there is a size difference. Drogon at the end of got isnt half the size of vhagar. Meleys was almost as big as vhagar, the cannibal, vermathor, sheep stealer, dreamfyre, silverwing, caraxes are all bigger than drogon, maybe even seasmoke in episode 3 will be bigger than drogon. By the battle of gods eye caraxes is half the size of vhagar.
S8 Drogon was smaller than a significant number of DANCE dragons. Obviously Vhagar, but even disregarding that behemoth, you have Vermithor, Meraxes, Cannibal, Sheepstealer, and maybe Silverwing and Dreamfyre being bigger. That’s a lot!
@@kevinlips5471 Exactly. He wouldnt have time to outgrow these dragons even in the wild, not even close, specially compared to Caraxes. His size was bloated as f... in the show.
What's more interesting is that the skull/head of Belarion, as depicted in episode 1 of House of the Dragon, is significantly bigger than that of Drogon's at any point in Game of Thrones. In GoT they seemed to be of about equal size. But they apparently changed that up for House of the Dragon.
Not at all. Somebody on youtube already pointed this out that balerion skull is waaayy bigger than drogon's in GOT even season 8 drogon, since balerion is the biggest dragon ever known this only make sense.
@@JWil97 Yes in the books. But in the GoT show, the skull of Belarion was roughly the same size as Drogon's in season 8. What I meant was that it's interesting that they've retconned that in House of the Dragon to how it's described in the books
@@ConsiderableFlux no mate. I said in the GOT SHOW, balerion skull is WAYYY bigger than drogon's. I suggest you go and check Alt Shift X channel, he talked about this long time ago.
Balerion got so big he could no longer take flight for extended periods of time or could say was too old to do so but the lore says got too big as the reason 🤷🏻♂️and I don’t agree with the comparison to drogon at the dragon pits maybe on screen but in the books he could barely take flight with dany on his back and in house of the dragon syrax or whatever it’s name is is zipping around all over the place with that girl and a saddle I’d say more like the size of drogon when she sank all the boats in slavers bay
@@Ante770 Ehm - where is it mentioned that he could no longer take flight? I don't recall reading that in either the ASoIaF books or in House of the Dragon
Cause they are real the ones, since HBO gave to the producers tremendous amount of budget. Producers managed to lend some dragons of Peter Jackson from New Zealand.
By show standards Drogon is massive. When going by the books Drogon is quite small in comparison to the Dragons in House of the Dragon. That's not to say that Book Drogon won't end up being massive should the books ever be completed.
The new dragons look nice and beautiful. But there’s just something about Drogon. He looks like an actual untamed beast and his unpredictable nature makes him more terrifying. Like how he even snaps at Daenerys
@@Kunumbah1 But wasn't Vhagar like twice his size or even bigger? Isn't that like the equivalent of a bobcat/lynx taking down a lion? I know this is just fantasy but from a realistic point of view it would be like a hawk taking down a pigeon.
I was disappointed with House of the Dragon show's First 3 Dragons. Especially Caraxes is very thin and Awful look. They all are smaller than Dani's 3 Dragons.
Every season after season 3, the dragons doubled in size. In season 5 Drogon was twice the size he was in season 4, in season 6 he was twice the size he was in season 5, and in season 7 he was twice the size he was in season 6, but in season 8 (and I'm disappointed they didn't do this) the dragons didn't double in size like they did the previous seasons.
They grew too fast imo, in s7 and 8, drogon should have been the size of season 6, the size difference between season 5 to 6 and 6 to 7 made absolutely no sense to me...
2:37 you do realize 2 of those pics are of Caraxes right? also you measured Drogon in season 7, you should have measured him in season 8, you would see he's closer to 45 meters long...
Drogon looked incredible and struck fear and awe in the heart. Syrax looks like a Pokemon ffs, I can see why they opted for that design of Caraxes but Syrax looks like a fun pokemon. Drogon's design was still the best among these imo, plus it's roar and fire-breathing was filled with venom, rage, and a monstrous sound, made it all the better.
!00% bro! I said much the same.. these current dragons dont hold a candle to Drogon or any of the GOT dragons...If it hadnt been made clear that there are many different variations and breeds of dragons, I was initially thinking they really messed up and cheaped out.
the problem here is that in the show they were not consistent with the size sometimes you saw the dragons very big ad nex epiesode they looked a bit smaller
Drogon is huge for such a young dragon. Might very well reach the Black Dread's size very fast. Btw, i have a theory: Daenerys isn't dead; Drogon carried her to Volantis where the high priestess Kinvara will bring her back to life. John Snow new series intrigue.
The reason I think syrax is bigger then drogon in the fighting pits is because when you see Danny first mount drogon in the pit you can see she takes up a lot of he’s body when she was mounted but when syrax lands we see rheanyra doesn’t take up anywhere near as much space on syrax when mounted and especially when we see syrax on the hill later in the episode she absolutely towers over people taller then both Danny and rheanyra so I definitely think syrax is much larger then 12 metres (I understand both actors are different heights but it wouldn’t make a very big different)
I agree. Syrax is very slightly bigger. But I think the height difference comes from the different body type as well. She has a more swan-like neck than does Drogon. Drogon and his siblings have bull necks, so on all fours they're less likely to tower than just stare straight at a target. ...god we overanalyze dragons. Lmaooooo
@@incendiamos No it does NOT matter. Please just read the original comment again. Thats like me saying "oh but drogon didnt eat a pig in that episode" He never said that drogon ate a pig or that drogon wasnt a child in that scene so no it does not matter.
Comparing the show yes drogon is bigger. But in reality strat is supposed to be bigger. She was born with Raenyra so Syrax is over 30 years old at her death. Drogon is merely maybe less then 8-10 years. Yes you could say drogon grew faster, but that’s because he ate more since he left Daenerys for a while to roam. Syrax was the queens dragon meaning she was constantly and for longer than drogon which means she would’ve been bigger in comparison in the books.
Drogon is supposed to be Balerion reincarnated so should grow at least close to that. Not sure if by the end of the series it was already bigger than Caraxes. Caraxes looked about the same size to me. I dont think Drogon had grown to its max size in the show. Vhagar is also there and should be logically way bigger than Drogon.
But neither had Caraxes and the age difference is massive. Drogon is 7-8 and Caraxes is 40 so he is bigger. And well, Caraxes is said to be half the size of Vhagar the second biggest dragon (or third if you hear some Meraxes rumors)
Caraxes was an older dragon and half the size of vhagar herself so it is highly unlikely that a young dragon like drogon would be larger than him even if we take the dragon pit factor into account. In addition to this it is also important to realise that caraxes was no ordinary dragon he was feirce and fast. He was almost a match for the old and slowed vhagar.
Wrong... Syrax is around s6 drogon size (a little smaller but very nearly as large, but far less bulky) so I'd say she's 60 feet long/18 meters long Caraxes has basically the same head size as Drogon (just a little smaller) and is thinner but his neck his twice has long as that of drogon and his overall shape is longer... we can compare the scene where he takes off and the scene of dany destroying Jaime's army. He looks MUCH larger in that shot, there are two people on his back and they don't even take as much space as Dany does alone... I can firmly say that Caraxes is at least 140 to 170 feet long/40 to 50 meters long. Drogon would weigh more than Caraxes but he isn't as long
So that chart showing all the dragons isnt correct then as all those dragons are much bigger then Drogon and the other 2. What your saying is they are all pretty similar in size?
Drogon was made too big on the show. Though he grows faster, because he isn't locked in a Dragon Pit. His wingspan in the latest book was about 20 ft, or about 6 m. That's about as tall as a nice two-story house. HOT D depicts the size of the dragons rather accurate. Though I'm curious what they'll do with Vhagar. We don't have much reference on her size, but Tyrion said that a horse could be ridden into her mouth. Edit: Oh, and Cannibal... I want to see Cannibal.
All of these dragons will keep growing until they die, this includes drogon. Both syrax and caraxes both will be 10x bigger when the time jump begins. Too bad we won’t see drogon again to see how big he gets.
Anybody else thinks Ceraxes sounds like Mothra? Also the reason people say Drogon is as big as a 747 is because D&D said Drogon would be around that size.
Caraxes is actually larger than drogon. The third episode shows show big Caraxes actually is. Syrax gets much bigger by the end of the first season. She's much younger in the first and 2nd episode.
In the true lore both dragons are much bigger than Drogon, almost double in size with Syrax being slightly smaller. Deamons dragon was never in the dragon pits and neither was Syrax. Syrax is very very young, and Daemons dragon is stunted from birth. Drogon was a very small dragon. We will likely see BOTH dragons but especially Syrax grow significantly during the time skip coming up. Whether this translates to the series we will see, but thats how GRRM wrote it up
You are kidding right. There will be several timeskips, a total of 28 year timeskip in the show. These dragons will be considerably bigger during the actual dance of the dragons.

Drogon got that feral look to him compared to the other two

It was hinted even in the show that Dragons kept in captivity for too long will eventually stunt their grow as seen with Viserion and Rhaegal whilst Drogon was flying free and exploring and feeding on everything he could see

Caraxes actually pretty cool, looks like a red serpent with a wings.
His design matches Daemon's character
Remember that the pit stunted dragon growth and eventually was the downfall of them
That's sound really make sense. i think this is the best answer why Drogon grow so fast and have big size compare to other.
Damn, i almost forgot Drogon went on a feeding frenzy out there while Dany was having problems in Mereen 🤣🤣

Drogon was scaled waaay up because the writers wanted to give Dany an ultimate weapon and intensify the end of the series. GOT was supposed to last for much longer than 8 seasons, allowing the three dragons to grow more steadily/accurately.

@@viewmann200 nah meraxes was the smallest
Por isso acho Drogon mais poderoso e violento não subestime ele, ele não morreu poder tornar do tamanho balerion o terror .
Yeah basically everyone dies and the Targaryen dynasty ends by the second Targaryen generation after Aegon’s ancient line that ended with Jahaerys.

"In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, Caraxes was one of the older and larger dragons during the Dance of the Dragons.
And not like a natural shiny but, a CGI shiny (if you know you know)
Drogon's roaring is over powered as compared to dragons in HOTD till seen...🙂
Excited to see Vaghar 🔥
I love how each of them look different even Drogon looks different to Syrax. Caraxes and Syrax have longer necks, the tail is also different for both and Caraxes also has little wings on his legs
I love Drogon's design and I hope that Vermithor looks just like him, only bigger and a different colour but Syrax and Caraxes will grow larger by the end of the first season, maybe they both double in size.
I think Drogon's design might be that of Vhagar, but can't be certain yet.
Syrax and Caraxes will DEFINATELY grow larger. Specially Syrax, who is still fairly young.
I hope Vermithor is the most robust dragon in the show, with a very prominent chin beard.
@@Levi_52_336 By robust do you mean muscular like Drogon?
@@MasterOfTheElements Robust in the sense that even Drogon looks fragile. Wider/thicker head and jaws, thicker horns, more muscular arms/wings, and beefier legs. If Vermithor was as big as Vhagar, make her look weak; that level of robust.
@@Levi_52_336 To me Drogon looks very muscular or robust, his chest was big and strong as fuq as were his legs, he had muscular legs and his wings were large and strong too. I don't want his head to look to big, but maybe his horns could be a bit bigger than Drogon's in comparison to his head.
Drogon would do well not to enrage him if he doesn't want to die.
well caraxes killed vhaegar (even though he died in the process) so yeah Caraxes would destroy drogon.
Lol vhagar is Soo overrated. He was so old and sluggish when he fought caraxes. He's all size not much else. Caraxes couldn't even wipe out the crabfeeder lol. Drogon wiped out kinglanding at just 8.
The other point is that Caraxes is approximatively 30-40 years old while drogon is only around 20 years old, but
1) dragons are growing relatively slowly
2) drogon was free while Caraxes was in Fossedragon
so ...
For me it is a relatively good representation

Excellent video. Keep it up!
Never knew that there were 3 distinct breeds of dragons, that actually explains the three headed dragon Targaryen family crest
supposably they were bred from sothoryos wyverns and fire wyrms, people claim ceraxes is deformed, but some also claim he just has mostly fire wyrm genes. So i think its mostly a fire wyrm were looking at, that might also by why its name is the blood wyrm.

Drogon would eventually be the size of Belarion if the show continued long enough or if he lived long enough

Yeah but drogon was like 5 years old
This is correct but you’re disregarding age.

Well drogon that time was still a child dragon, not fully grown yet.
@@klz7157 doesnt matter
I agree. Syrax is very slightly bigger. But I think the height difference comes from the different body type as well. She has a more swan-like neck than does Drogon. Drogon and his siblings have bull necks, so on all fours they're less likely to tower than just stare straight at a target.

There is a massive age difference. Caraxes is about 50 yo while Drogon is only 7-8.
How do they compare to smaug?
Nice Looking Dragons imagine if they meet King Ghidorah the 3 headed golden dragon from Godzilla God Bless yall
Hahaha, that’s gonna be sick yoo
Caraxes was an older dragon and half the size of vhagar herself so it is highly unlikely that a young dragon like drogon would be larger than him even if we take the dragon pit factor into account. In addition to this it is also important to realise that caraxes was no ordinary dragon he was feirce and fast. He was almost a match for the old and slowed vhagar.
Wrong... Syrax is around s6 drogon size (a little smaller but very nearly as large, but far less bulky) so I'd say she's 60 feet long/18 meters long
Caraxes has basically the same head size as Drogon (just a little smaller) and is thinner but his neck his twice has long as that of drogon and his overall shape is longer... we can compare the scene where he takes off and the scene of dany destroying Jaime's army. He looks MUCH larger in that shot, there are two people on his back and they don't even take as much space as Dany does alone... I can firmly say that Caraxes is at least 140 to 170 feet long/40 to 50 meters long.
Drogon would weigh more than Caraxes but he isn't as long
Syrax is still young though, only as old as rhaenyra I’m pretty sure, so growing slower than drogon but still growing none the less
I truly love drogon ❤️

You are kidding right.
There will be several timeskips, a total of 28 year timeskip in the show.
These dragons will be considerably bigger during the actual dance of the dragons.
@@siran424 guessing by the emoji, they’re probably just kidding.
Idk dude, Drogon may be big, but Caraxes has alot of experience in the battlefield
@@Souzz__ i didnt read the books so im a little biased im not gonna lie. From what i saw drogon was a freakin monster, from fighting the knight king and the army of the dead to annihilating kings landing and the iron fleet.
@@siran424 but thats the same thing with drogon he wasnt fully grown either. Only a few years old he was still a super young dragon and was already that strong and impressive
I think perhaps Drogon being free, and also the way he was hatched: blood magic? Is why he grew so large, so quickly.
its just because the GOT showrunners are stupid^^ actually following the book drogon shouldnt even be bigger than vhagars head alone
