Todd, this just shows your integrity and the integrity of the people you surround yourself with. It is also just another reason I enjoyed the times I got to fish with you and Russell. You both do your own thing and for the most part stay away from the crowds. As far as BASS goes if they keep making rules like this they need to rethink their business model. I don't think making rules that most disagree with and putting it out there to test the waters. Then walk it back when the backlash is so bad. I have to think this is a big black eye for BASS and I don't know what they can do to make it any better for themselves.

Great video again and I agree. What saddens me the most right now is that we literally never get to talk about anything good or positive in fishing or life anymore. No matter how good a derby was or how many big fish are caught or a great new bait etc. negativity, drama, scandals always overshadows it now. Remember when we used to love fishing and it was fun to do, see, watch and learn on a positive light?! Make fishing great again please somebody!🙏🤷‍♂️😁

Great video Todd. This video needs to be watched by many tournament anglers. The guys fishing smaller scale tournaments and definitely the Elite’s and BPT guys. Any time money and fame are on the line there’s always going to be someone willing to cheat or whatever to win. The guy with integrity will always have to work harder for the win. But it just makes it that much better.

Back when I was fishing BASS in the 90’s it was what a lot of people did. Not all mind you (not all of us could afford to rent helicopters and hire every guide in the local area) but it was common. Those that had money to spend, spent it.
It was hard to compete but it was possible. 👍🏻

At the high school tournament level, parents can “hire” an excellent boat captain to tutor and coddle their children. It’s amazing how many productive baits are randomly laying around in the boat captain’s boat. The high school teammates never know where to start. Well the captain just pulls into a known productive creek.

Grew up wanting to be a professional fisherman! Now I'm glad I never pursued that dream! It's not just fishing that's being effected. People used to have morals, high standards, were raised in church, had manners and was taught respect. Seems like everything is backwards now, what used to be wrong is now considered right, and what was right is now considered wrong! I'm with you, put a stop to it and set those people out, don't condone people that are dishonest and break the rules! Makes the federation look bad!!!!

Part of it is probably things being blatant or sneaky. Part of it is also probably the anglers... BASS pre split had a lot of big name anglers but now the anglers are younger, not saying there aren't old timers there. There are but they probably stayed out of this stuff because they see the toxic negativity it brings to the sport. Nowadays people just shoot a text instead of taking joe Bob out to lunch and "talk fishing". I follow tournament fishing but don't do it myself so I'm just guessing. I'm pretty weird about just telling someone I caught a fish somewhere 😂

There is no such thing as a professional fisherman. That is a lie you got sold when we were younger. Professional sportsmen don’t pay entry fees to the competitions. When was the last time tennis, baseball, football, golf players, required to pay an entry fee at the highest level of their sport? They haven’t. They get paid predetermined amounts, regardless of their final results. They might get more to win in some cases, but they get paid to lose, without paying to play. That is what a professional is. At best, there are semi amateur half assed sponsored fishermen. That’s it. The quicker that gets accepted, the quicker it can be changed.

In fishing there are no so called professionals just professional sales people. When you pay 40k in entry fees plus all the gear. Hoping to make money at the end of year is crazy thinking. Only a few fisherman actually make money just fishing. To me it's clearly evident when I watch live there is info being past around.

B.a.s.s. & BPT is not a top-level sport. First what is b.a.s.s. & BPT gross revenue? Elites and bpt only fish 9 events, when real top level sports play 16-162 games a year.
Do you actually know how one qualify for Wimbledon, u.s. open, Australia open, French open? It goes off your world ranking, you have play out country, travel U.S. pay to entree smaller tournaments to build your ranking. How about trying qualifying for the masters, PGA championship, Ryder cup, u.s. open cup?
Nfl, nba, mlb they make their money off selling out arenas, stadiums, jerseys, souvenirs, ect. Then the TV deal, each nfl team makes around 250 million on that.
B.a.s.s. and bpt is more like lower end of professional racing. Only handful of events where you can make money if you win. Or you better have really deep pockets or ride and sponsorship to cover everything.

Look I respect most folks that love to fish. But there seems like some of the older elites who love to hunt don't want to work as hard as the younger guys at trying to win. Would rather hunt than put that extra time in to be the best at their sport. Those young guy are still going to more than likely whip the deer hunting crowd because they are hungrier. I think the hunters are highly upset their apple cart is a much tougher grind than they like. Get hungry/better and quit whining. They are still going to win. They have the rules like they like them. So what will the excuse/whine be next year.

I strongly disagree with this. There is so much going on here and just cause you put more time in today doesnt mean you get rewarded for tomorrow. If you take certain things away from these anglers certain things are gonna follow. I can't wait for next year cause a lot of people are gonna see the light on the other tours.

@@toddcastledinefishing5924 You are a smart guy. Hard worker based on your videos. Efficiency is the name of this game. I am not great at it in my 60's. That being said if someone fishes 12 months out of the year continues to constantly learn both technique and habits of their prey. They will most likely do a lot better than those that are not full time pursuing the same goals. MLF's they will still get to practice with FFS . Elites are full time FFS. It seems the big key to me is learning how to be most efficient with it in practice. I am learning every time I go out how to catch more fish with it in shallow water. Usually not by looking at them but knowing they live there and why they live there. Those guys that rely on past knowledge can't compete with actual current knowledge.
