I can only comment on the Brutfuner pencils. I have them, like them and feel they are an excellent buy for the money. Thanks for the informative video, I have been curious about the ShuttleArt for quite some time and you have answered my questions. I have the Brutfuner round pencils and the square ones and much prefer the square ones. Also own the Brutfuner Macaron Pastel pencils and absolutely love those !!
Thanks Necee for doing this video!! Remember I was the one going back and forth on which set to get. I wanted to get the shuttle art set just for the beautiful tin. It looks nicer and also sturdier than the BRutfuner which is solid black. I ended up going for BRutfuner because the price was $10 difference-cheaper. Once a set goes into the $50 to me it’s no longer a budget set. I think the quality control is better also with the shuttle art in terms of what you demonstrated since I don’t have both sets. But something to keep in mind. Is once I sharpened all 180 BR about 25 pencils were off center. I ended up ordering a replacement set because the first one the tin was dented on arrival. So I just swapped the pencils on the dented set-before I returned it. Even still, I had about 10 pencils between the 2 BRutfuner sets that were left off center because they were like that in both sets. It could of been due to my automatic sharpener getting worn out after sharpening so many pencils but about every 30 pencils o did sharpen the blade with a graphite. Did you have sharpening issues with your shuttle art being off center? Much Love from LA❤️will be emailing you with those great finds soon 😍
They are the same pencils actually. Just sold under a different brand. They are mass produced in some chinese factory and then sold to different brands to sell them as their own products. But they are the same things from the same factory.
I'm enjoying this a lot. Good job pointing out the differences. I wanted the Shuttle Arts one but Soucolor had the 180 set for under 30. I think it's identical to the Brutfuner but the tin is nicer. It has a few typos on the pencils but so far I'm enjoying them. For sure, I would go for the Shuttle Arts over the Brutfuner. I *do* love love love the square Brutfuners though and I can't wait to see your thoughts on those.
DollarDiva99 Coloring World yes-I saw the soucolor which I didn’t see before. The tin looks nicer than the BRutfuner and still I think it came out to a couple dollars cheaper! But now that I sharpened 300+ pencils between the 2 dud BRutfuner sets I received I’m just going to stick with the one Frankenstein BR set that I put together after swapping the bad pencils. Oh my-BR get it together with the Quality control 😳
I bought 120 Brutfuner unused through eBay local for pennies. I’m a beginner to this art so they will tide me over to play with. My first work was simple, so it was and is adequate. Having said all that I have Faber Castell and Koh i Noor in every which way, waiting for me to get better. My next lower priced purchase will be Castle Arts. They are also fairly cheap through eBay.
Hi! Thank you for your review video! I was looking for Shuttle Art reviews and found yours. Got curious because I haven't heard of Brutfuner yet. I've been planning to buy Shuttle Art. But after seeing your video, I'm going to buy Brutfuner instead after learning it's almost the same as Shuttle Art. It's mainly because Brutfuner is available in my country. Shuttle Art, I'd have to buy online from overseas. I'll be able save a lot on shipping costs now. Thanks so much! 😄
Funny, I have the same brutfuner set, and I bought them a month ago, and there is only one apricot yellow with the number 174 ! They are fixing their mistakes very fast !
i have the brutfuner and have none of mislabelling issues you discuss; they must have revised the set. Anyway, i love these pencils, am a prisma girl, but these are very my 2nd choice.
id still pick brutfruner since I want to major in art and I don't know about the sketchbook quality, I need something that can handle watercolor and marker along with pencils, so Walmart sketchbooks is a better option for me personaly
I just received my brute funner 180 set but I watch at least 20 videos on how great they were review before I bought them so I will keep them and I join them so far so good. I only paid 32.00 that's less then 20 cents per pencils
My Brutfuner set arrived with the tin all beaten up, having travelled half way round the world in a plastic bag no bubble wrap. My shuttle art set travelled the same distance and arrived with tin in a box and in a second bio degradable box
Oh Necee, you make me laugh, I just love your commentary. please keep making your videos, I just love your presentation. Now I'm going to look at my Kalour and Soucolor 180 sets and see if they are as screwed up as the Brutfuner.
I bought the Shuttle Art and just received the 180 count ser of Brutfuner. They are all the same except for the 6 extra colored pencils. If I would have known about the Shuttle Art and the Brutfuner were the same I wouldn't have ordered the Brutfuner colored pencils. I think I wasted my money. Which is really sad that you would think that they would not come out with the same colors.
I ordered the Soucolor 180 which look very similar to these but also have their quality issues like Brutfuner’s. The shuttle art were $32 when I was looking to buy them a few months ago and I decided to wait a bit and then boom price jump 🥺 have to be quick on these deals.
I would still take the Brutfuner because there are pictures on Amazon of Shuttle Arts splitting right down the middle. Breakage problems etc. in that respect the Brutfuners seem to fare better.
Thanks Necee, love your videos! Do you have the Kalour 180 red tin pencils? I have the Shuttle Art set and was going to order the Kalour 180 set but then noticed that the numbers and color names on the Amazon pics match the Shuttle Art 174 set. So I’m wondering if these pencils are selling under several brand names.
Thx so much for watching ❤️💛💚 I don't have the Kalour but hear they are the same as the Shuttle Art and Brutfuner. But have a couple different colors in the additional 6. Like they swapped out a couple of the additional colors to be slightly unique from Brutfuner.
Brutfuner seem to be very inconsistent regarding sets. I’m in the uk and the packaging was a plastic case (120 set) . I have 2 sets bought a year apart. Both have coloured barrels and numbered, no colour name. However the first set 001 is a yellow pencil and my second set 001 is a red, therefore every colour had a different number. My first set were much more pigmented and softer. Completely different pencils between sets
I have the Brutfuner 180, but mine are in a little plastic suitcase like container, not a tin. I'd have preferred a tin, but they were less than $40 shipped from China, and arrived in less than 2 weeks. Mine have full color barrels and are labeled number and name. Probably a completely different factory. I will say that "Oily Pencil" as described on the package is apt. If you build up several layers, it'll sweat an oily sheen. It's not waxy, and doesn't rub a ton of pigment off when you touch it, but these leave the surface most indicative of what happened. So far, I've only played with them a bit and swatched them, but that's one thing I noticed. They're quite vivid and pigmented, though. I had three with broken tips, and one which is uncentered and will be a problem pencil. They're not Polychromos, but they're not $200.
@@Rebecca640 Mine have the same colors as the video, even down to the misspelling. I'm not returning them, I wanted to play with them, see how they were. They're better than I thought, even sweating up oil. I am waiting to see if they eventually leave the paper with a greasy spot like if something fried touched it.
You had me at "compare and contrast...." My art teacher turned me onto the Brutfuner 180s. So I was tracking until you showed me the pencils! And then I started bugging! I know that it is 3 o'clock in the morning when I am watching this on 2/2/21, but I had to put the sista' on pause for a hot minute and run out the room! Ghuuuuurrrrrrlllll!!!! Don't you know you know my set is exactly as you described EXCEPT my pencils are SQUARE! SQUARE I TELL YOU! That is one of the reasons why I got them. Everything you brought up about the Brutfuner's would have caused me to return them, because I am all about presentation, presentation, presentation! But I will add that I love the Brutfuner set I have. That being said, I have ordered the Shuttle Art exactly as you described in your last video. Yes, the exact ones, because that is how you broke it down to a brother! Exactly! Thanks for making me run down the street with my hair on fire when you showed the round barrels, but other than that I'm good! LOL!!!
@@DollarDiva99 y Oops! My bad! Now I did say it was 3am, right? OK. Well upon further review the square ones are the Brutfuner 120 oily pencils that I got last week . I was deciding between the two when I saw this upload and got aiurlllpx seewaaa Thanks again getting this to your “guys!”
I have the Shuttle Art 174 set and love them. I have never heard of Brutfuner before and wouldn’t buy them after watching this video. Based on the look of the Brufuner pencils it looks like they are trying to be knock offs of Shuttle Art since they look exactly the same and have the same names/numbers. I wondered if they were the same company, but they have different company names so maybe they aren’t the same. Based on the tins I would say they aren’t the same.
I bought the brutfuner and I like them very much. I have no tin but a plastic fold over folder. I have to draw the line somewhere. I have other sets. I cannot order anymore pencils until all gone.
Great video lovely lady. I can't believe how much time and effort you put into the research you do for us. Love your enthusiasm when you've found something new or found out about something we may already own. I'm right there with you when you swatch/compare colored pencils. My husband bought me the 96 count Schpirerr Farben even though I bought the original 72 set back when there were no Amazon reviews. The 96 set, IMO, has a slighty different and much improved formula from the original. I find them softer with smoother color lay down. Color me happy.🎨♿👵 Barb N.
Those are actually the same pencils. They are being mass produced in some chinese factory and then purchased by those brands and sold under their own name. But they are the exact same pencils. And they are all wax based, afaik. Not oil based. Well, Brutfuner claims to have some vegetable oils mixed in there (not a lot tho), so thats why they say "oily" pencils instead of oil based. I highly doubt it tho, since they are the same pencils as the Shuttle Art ones.
Hi, I was just curious if you have seen the 120 set of Brutfuner oil based square pencils. I am curious as to if they are similar to the 180 set you have here? I am considering getting the 180 set maybe but I did get the 120 square pencils and I get them sometime in February. I live in Australia and they are coming from America
Also I just wanted to let you know how much they cost on Amazon Australia. It cost me $58.55 on January the 29th If anyone else wants to get them here too
You do know that they ARE the same pencils, produced in the same factory. Both companies purchased these and put their own brand print. Same as castle art, orionstar, soucolor, ccloud, kalour,
Hello, Great video. Are you sure the core size is same ? Brutfuner's amazon listing says 3 mm and Shuttle art's says 4 mm.. I usually like the thicker lead and wanted to go for shuttle art but if they are same like you said, I would rather not. Please let me know. :)
Great video,Thank you. About 1 year ago I bought the 120 set of Brutfuner. They said it was o based. But the larger set pencils look different.i did purchase these Shuttle art pencils, and I like them a lot. Love the details that you put into your reviews , it s wonderful for all of us!!!
If I want to choose a colour pencil set considering the quality of the colour pencil and how good it is in colouring and how good it is when laying down the pigments, which colour pencil set should I select? Which set do you recommend when it comes to the colouring quality. I wouldn't mind the wrong labelling and other stuff. Can you please recommend the good colour pencil set when it comes to the quality of the colour pencils. Thank you soo much
i must have gotten my brutfuners before they changed the barrels mine are colored barrels with no color caps or names just numbers. I do have to say I don't know where they came up with the color they used for peach lol
@@reginaward9144 the complete colored ones I feel has more oil than the black barrel ones bc they are a firm harder lead. The softer the pencil. The more wax is usually added.
@@DollarDiva99 right I agree I just feel like I've been coloring so long it's kind of second nature to tell the difference s with the wax and oil lay down blending etc. I really like the brutfuner pencils have you been able to get your hands on the deli pencils yet?
I ended up with the Shuttle Art 180. I’ve been told the 180 set differs from the 174. All I know is I can’t stand them. Kinda stopped me from buying budget pencils from now on. I did find Magicfly were beautiful along with RAAM Refined which are dreamy.
Yes. The 180 is nothing like the 174. 180 is full colored barrel that's exactly like the wanshui or Guanhui or South sun or brutfuner or Soucolor full color barrel Pencils.
Shuttle arts are about $80 more expensive than the brutfuners here in Australia. I'm willing to put up with the shortcomings of language for those savings
So... let me get this straight (I'm Australian) every single one of the Shuttle Art 174 has the EXACT same name, same number AND the EXACT same colour as all of the pencils in the Brutfuner 180's? (Oh! It's pronounced phonetically brute-fooner 😃) So much so that you could do ONE colour chart and, disregarding the 6 extra pencils in the Brutfuners, that it would be an exact reference for BOTH pencil sets? Very good video 👍
I've ordered another set of the shuttle art pencils sense I left the comment on you're other video and they work well. I still believe the colors are a little close though. With that being said neither of these pencils are made by the same companies as the colored barrels that might explain the misspellings on the barrels. Brutfuners also have square barrels although they also come round
@@lindam.6782Rofl I went to that channel and the first video I came across was "color pencils shouldn't do this." I thought of course not because they are color pencils NOT water color pencils as she liquified them lol. I dont use any water nor solvents until I pull out the water colors. She simply reviewed something by using it the wrong way. I looked no further into that channel because I cant really trust the testing she's doing but what do I know.
My brutfuner pencils only have the colour number, but I enjoy them very much.they certainly are Faber Castell, or Carn D' Ache, but for the price they are fun ! In the UK on Amazon both sets you compared are the same price in the uk
I have the brutfuner set. The color chart is of no significance to me because I always use my own color chart. I also prefer the plain black tin because I use my own pencils cases and I used the plain black tin for my gel pens. The naming is terrible though. And I vote for shuttle art when it comes to naming the pencil Magenta! 😆
For me,its more affordable to have the Brutfuner, for the price and also can buy them, the Shuttle Art,looks awesome for can be send to Chile??not sure, that's why I go for the Brut😌for those particular reasons
The Brutfuners I have are not black barrel but colored barrel like a Prismacolor. So are these different from the 180 set you are talking about. They came in a set of 168 under the Wan Shui label.
@@sandrakuzniak1394 Yes all the colored barrel pencils are pretty much the same. I got the Hero Guanhui oil based pencils years ago and they seem to be the same as the others. But the black barrel ones are different from the one you have. They are softer and a bit Smoother and more waxy.
So true. I think they both have mislabeled and mislead us. The shuttle art has more oil than it claims and the brutfuner black barrel has more wax than it claims. If that makes sense 😉
@@DollarDiva99 So both are mislabelled? Have you done the coconut oil test? And what are the Brutfuner with colored barrels and uncapped ends? They said oily on the label. Thanks
@@sandrakuzniak1394 I find it interesting why they say oily... And not just oil based. All Pencils have a measure of oil, wax, and binders. It's all just crazy at this point. Sort of a misrepresentation to boost Sales.
@@DollarDiva99 I thought the same until I spoke to the Brutfuner manufacturer directly - they said they were mostly vegetable oil, with a small amount of wax. Brutfuner is the original factory - so it's not surprising that they aren't as good at marketing as Shuttle Art, who's main focus will be marketing a product they have ordered from Brutfuner's manufacturer. It's all very interesting! Thanks for the comparison!
Hellllooo! I love your reviews, comparisons, & your lovely coloring. Ty. / well the Shuttle Art win, yes? Hi! The 180 set of Soucolor pencils r the same as the brutfuner and they r 20% off right now!!! Oh and they quality seems to be like the Shuttle Art.
Awesome 😊❤️😎
I'm enjoying this a lot. Good job pointing out the differences. I wanted the Shuttle Arts one but Soucolor had the 180 set for under 30. I think it's identical to the Brutfuner but the tin is nicer. It has a few typos on the pencils but so far I'm enjoying them. For sure, I would go for the Shuttle Arts over the Brutfuner. I *do* love love love the square Brutfuners though and I can't wait to see your thoughts on those.
Ohhhhhh. I just got them today! I can't wait to play with them! So excited 😁😀😍
This was an enjoyable and relaxing review, I appreciate the amount of work you put into it. Thanks.
To me, the most important thing is the quality of the pencils in terms of performance and variety in colours to choose from.

I actually love brutfuner pencils even more so than my polys and at £22 for 160 the price is a bonus too.
💚💛❤️🧡💙💜
Fabulous video! I am looking to get some colored pencils and need these videos to decide which set to get. Love the fountain pen! 😊✒ 🖋
You could get a 120 set of Faber castell polychromas for the price you paid for both your sets !
The Brutfuner black barrel set is the exact same with a few minor Differences. But I'm glad you found it helpful. You made a Great choice!
Yay! So excited to get Brutfuner and make some art! 🤩
Funny, I have the same brutfuner set, and I bought them a month ago, and there is only one apricot yellow with the number 174 ! They are fixing their mistakes very fast !
That's GREAT NEWS!!!
I'm so glad you did this video!
Thx so much for watching ❤️💛💚
Have you tried the square brutfuner
@@gailsmith3531 I decided not to get those because I thought the square shape would make it difficult to sharpen. They do look pretty though. 🙂
i have the brutfuner and have none of mislabelling issues you discuss; they must have revised the set. Anyway, i love these pencils, am a prisma girl, but these are very my 2nd choice.
That's awesome 👍
Shuttle Art all the way! Wonderful comparison!

id still pick brutfruner since I want to major in art and I don't know about the sketchbook quality, I need something that can handle watercolor and marker along with pencils, so Walmart sketchbooks is a better option for me personaly
excellent in depth review!! thank you.
Thx so much for watching ❤️💛💚
i think the burtfuner is better just because the Shuttle Art is just a re-brand of brutfuner known as white labeling and have more colors
❤️🧡💙💚💛💜🤗
I bought the Shuttle Art and just received the 180 count ser of Brutfuner. They are all the same except for the 6 extra colored pencils. If I would have known about the Shuttle Art and the Brutfuner were the same I wouldn't have ordered the Brutfuner colored pencils. I think I wasted my money. Which is really sad that you would think that they would not come out with the same colors.
Yes. It's crazy how they are doing these days.
You know I do love this content!!!
Thx so much for watching ❤️💛💚
I ordered the Soucolor 180 which look very similar to these but also have their quality issues like Brutfuner’s. The shuttle art were $32 when I was looking to buy them a few months ago and I decided to wait a bit and then boom price jump 🥺 have to be quick on these deals.
So True!!! One day cheap... Next day boom.
@@lindam.6782 Yes!!! As far as I can tell, the square ones have More oil than the black barrel ones.
All the black barrel pencils like that are made in the same factory and private labeled.
Very interesting. I've been wondering about that difference.
WOW!!!!
They're not Polychromos, but they're not $200.
i have the same ones as you do mine are def oil based
🧡💜❤️💙💚💛
It seems like the black barrel ones don't have as much oil as they claim.
This set has also the same 180 colors and color names than the black set. Thats why I returned it, I thought it has different colors
Look the same color wise. Love coming pencil reviews now starjou and soucolor r next to look into
Love the shuttle art pencil..great on blending good quality pencil..love it
You had me at "compare and contrast...." My art teacher turned me onto the Brutfuner 180s. LOL!!!
LOL 🤣 Thx so much for watching ❤️ I just got the square ones A couple days ago. Still testing them but so far so good.
No, brutfuners are not a ‘knock-off’ , they are the same. It’s called white-labelling.
I bought the brutfuner and I like them very much. I have no tin but a plastic fold over folder. I have to draw the line somewhere. I have other sets. I cannot order anymore pencils until all gone.
I agree! I'm going to try to use my Supplies I have already as much as possible.
Thx so much! Now you gonna make me get the new Schpirerr Farben Pencils 96!!! LOL 😆
Thx so much for watching ❤️💛💚 I just received the square ones. They seem to have more oil than the black barrel ones. I will be doing a video soon.
@@DollarDiva99 I can’t wait to see that video. That is so good 😊
Also I just wanted to let you know how much they cost on Amazon Australia. It cost me $58.55 on January the 29th If anyone else wants to get them here too
Your pronounciation of Brutfuner is correct. Brut as in English brute.
They are the exact same but shuttle art is the best choice for other reasons as mentioned in video 🙂
Thx so much for watching ❤️💛💚
Is Castle Art and Shuttle Art the same?
Can you do a video comparison of both of them?
Sure I can try to do a video on that subject. But they are not the same. Very different formulations in the pencil leads.
Great review
If I want to choose a colour pencil set considering the quality of the colour pencil and how good it is in colouring and how good it is when laying down the pigments, which colour pencil set should I select? Which set do you recommend when it comes to the colouring quality. I wouldn't mind the wrong labelling and other stuff. Can you please recommend the good colour pencil set when it comes to the quality of the colour pencils. Thank you soo much

@@DollarDiva99 is it better than shuttle art or brutfuners. But it's cheaper than both other brands right
There seems to be the same corresponding colours in each set.
i must have gotten my brutfuners before they changed the barrels mine are colored barrels with no color caps or names just numbers. I do have to say I don't know where they came up with the color they used for peach lol
LOL 😂 right that peach is ridiculousness.
@@DollarDiva99 blood peach lol but honestly mine sure color like they are def oil pencils
@@reginaward9144 I have had the Deli 72 Pencil set for 3 years now.
@@DollarDiva99 so is the set of 174 better?
Shuttle arts are about $80 more expensive than the brutfuners here in Australia. I'm willing to put up with the shortcomings of language for those savings
I don't blame you! I would do the same.
@@DollarDiva99 Thanks
Nice detail!
So... let me get this straight (I'm Australian) every single one of the Shuttle Art 174 has the EXACT same name, same number AND the EXACT same colour as all of the pencils in the Brutfuner 180's? (Oh! It's pronounced phonetically brute-fooner 😃)
So much so that you could do ONE colour chart and, disregarding the 6 extra pencils in the Brutfuners, that it would be an exact reference for BOTH pencil sets?
Very good video 👍
Thx so much for watching ❤️💛💚
I've ordered another set of the shuttle art pencils sense I left the comment on you're other video and they work well. I still believe the colors are a little close though. With that being said neither of these pencils are made by the same companies as the colored barrels that might explain the misspellings on the barrels. Brutfuners also have square barrels although they also come round
I will be getting the square ones today.
@@DollarDiva99 Then you will have the real ones rofl. Black barrel pencils seem to be knockoffs with other companies names on them.
@@lindam.6782 They wouldn't lower the quality of their brand just to change names on them.

The Brutfuners I have are not black barrel but colored barrel like a Prismacolor. So are these different from the 180 set you are talking about. They came in a set of 168 under the Wan Shui label.
@@lindam.6782 So all,3 are the same then?

So are the Brutfuners oil or wax? And, are the Shuttle Arts wax or oil? If they are the same thing then one of the sets is a misnomer.
Thanks

@@DollarDiva99 I thought the same until I spoke to the Brutfuner manufacturer directly - they said they were mostly vegetable oil, with a small amount of wax.
