Will a 16gal bio cube work for about 10-20 dwarf seahorses? Also what other fish can I house with them since it’s a bigger tank? Will some clean up crew starfish work?
A 16 gallon can work, but you will need to hatch a lot of baby brine shrimp to ensure proper density for feeding. I have not had luck in the long term putting anything else in with dwarf seahorses. Either seemingly harmless creatures injure or even eat the seahorses, especially babies, or hydroids are introduced into the tank. Hydroids resemble mini jellyfish formations which are deadly to dwarf seahorses.
Hello there. I have a thriving 90 gallon reef that’s over 3 years old, and I just added a 3 gallon PLUMBED INTO the big tank on low flow. I have plans to put a piece of rubble and various gorgonians, and hopefully once I see more tiny life showing up in there… dwarf seahorses. Do you think that’s an appropriate size?
3 Gallon space would work, but I personally wouldn’t attach a seahorse tank to a larger system. Too many opportunities for seahorses getting stuck or other critters dangerous to dwarf seahorses, getting in their tank.
