Yes, there were civil rights residue but primarily whites and blacks went to the same school and then Reagan and everyone talked about them moving out of the regular mixed neighborhoods and predominately white and black neighborhoods occurred again. So they were heavily influenced by black singers, their black musician teachers and black singers in the schools and musicians. This was In the 1970s. There were no crazy cops like they have today. It is so different today and people who weren't living back then would think I'm lying. And I'm not. There are other blacks who remember this time period as well.

When Michael was about to join the Doobie Brothers, Tiran Porter admitted he was skeptical when he first saw him, but then he got excited when "I heard this black man's voice come out of this white dude." LOL Nothing wrong with noticing it. Being able to cross genres and cultures is a good thing. McD is amazing.
