- ITV Digital closure - Sky News Active coverage 30 April 2002, followed by ITV Digital text information pages and test card. The upload is several different items a few days apart recorded separately all joined together in chronological order.

@Ryan Parker Indeed. They were so hot you could make toast and tea with them! Also when I.T.V. Digitial said you just nedded a box this was before Analogue closedown 12 years ago. For I.T.V. Digitial you needed an aerial extension.
This reminds me of the Sky Q box we have now. It overheats, then shuts down, then overheats and does it all again. A family member eventually came up with the (not ideal, but does the job well enough) 'solution' of making little wooden blocks (akin to very short table legs) to keep it hoisted up off of the table surface.
@@thevampiregirl7529 The same with my old Sky Box. I do not have Sky Q but the issues that you describe are the same so you must surround it with a shield and put in a cool corner. Many thanks for your reply.

The amount of times you switched the box on to be greeted with a red dot in the middle of screen where there not enough power from the transmitters. Charles Allen and Michael Green!

ITV Digital was way ahead of it's time
Now ITV has a digital channel along with a mobile app
It was rubbish, the signal was poor, the best thing getting a refund from them a year before it collapsed. NTL & Telewest were probably relieved when it collapsed
11:33 How tragic. The Queen really was adamant in serving for as long as possible. And she'd go on to serve for 20 more years.
Tragic? There was a debate about whether monarchs should retire by abdicating at the time and the Queen was absolutely against it. She always intended to do as almost every other British monarch had done before her and reign until death.
And ITV has never recovered from this.
At least they didn't spend decades protecting pedos
In the end the BBC and BSkyB WERE the ones who picked up the slack. Though with no subscription charge. And no help to the football clubs.

The ominousness of their information screen saying "It is business as usual" and then just being dead is rather harrowing,.

@@127dot0dot0dot1 Old comment I know but to anyone else looking here: there were allegations, with quite strong evidence, that Sky News' owner, Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, hacked the ROM files for the ITV Digital service and leaked them onto the internet to encourage disruption to the service. French cable company Canal+ made the first accusation and a BBC Panorama investigation found it to be true through leaked emails. The Metropolitan Police started a criminal investigation in 2013 but as usual with Mr Murdoch it went absolutely nowhere.
It's better for outlets to be upfront about their bias than gaslight their audience with fake objectivity

yes - a join on my video tape with a separate recording of what was then on an ITV Digital information page (that hadn't yet been updated), until it subsequently was.

The First DTT Service In The UK Was ONDigital From November 15th 1998 Then On Wednesday 11th July 2001 It Changed To ITV Digital Then it Was Closed Because Of The Football League Division Clubs And DTT returns When Freeview Launched On Wednesday 30th October 2002 And Top Up TV Launched From Wednesday 31st March 2004 Until Halloween 2013 However BT Sport 1 And 2 Remained Until BT Sport 2 Left DTT Then BT Sport 1 However You Can Access Pay TV Channels Available Via YouView On BT TalkTalk And Plusnet
