- A quick home tour of our soon to be new dream home. After a year of looking at houses, to find the perfect home for us, we finally found our dream home, our unicorn home, a mini New England country estate with a 1790 cape cod style home! We had a home buying checklist to go by and we stuck to it. After almost giving up for awhile, the home of our dreams came on the market and it became ours the day after we saw it.
I believe fine living and happiness begins within ourselves and at home. My goal is to help you find your own version of fine living, no matter how simple or grand that may be, no matter where you live. That’s you . It’s more than beautiful it’s a sanctuary….peaceful….restful. A delight.
When this retirement village admins called me in 202, and they stopped at this flat, I knew I was home! Even though the space is smaller than my art studio had been in our home. (I sold the way-too-large house 18 months after my husband passed away) I am making it work! Loving the tiny space - before I even start cleaning up, I am done - so, lots of time for singing and playing piano and pursuing my many art and craft work projects! You inspire me to make this my soft place to fall - gracious living on a tiny footprint, with a gentle colour palette of French greys, white, duck egg blue and small accents of vintage purple (a grayish, muted, purple). It gives me a warm welcome home hug each time I walk in here.....exactly what home should be like! Albeit with a little bit of organizational chaos currently.......apparently things need to get worse before they reach AHA!!!

So happy you found your “Unicorn” home. I truly understand your journey. At the age of 57 my hubby and I found our unicorn home in NC three years ago . After living in Florida for 27 years ,We finally found our dream home in NC. Stunning Colonial home. This is our “dream Home” and We are super super happy . Linda I love your new home, I understand the dream of a unicorn home..... I didnt know any if these terms, but that's exactly what I got and how I felt, when I saw the empty plot. I said: this is it! And we bought the property and built a house!
I got chills when you drove by the home. It reminds me of a home I passed as a little girl in Natick. I have tears in my eyes. It tugged at me. My goodness. Congratulations. Learned something new today: unicorn home. Love it❤

Congratulations Linda! Lovely home and CHARMING landscape & gardens. Soooo many windows in each room, amazing. You will not get board this Winter looking out all the windows on a snowy day....different views of your Winter Gardens, what a joy it will be! I can only imagine your joy and relief to find it just after you both decided to slow down on the hunt. Same things have happened to us regarding real estate and just happened for us again! As for your Arm Surgery & Therapy....can you possible hold it off till January 2022, so you can enjoy the Fall & Holidays and Cooking? Then you can just RELAX and watch it Snow and make plans for your Summer Gardens! Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers that it is a painless move with no further injuries. Thanks for sharing!

I am sooo happy for you both! My husband and I knew we’d found our home too the moment we stepped in. We COULD feel it. I am so glad you held out. That was an incredible find. I hope it’s in New Hampshire. That’s where we settled in our forever home too. i know you will have no problem selling your existing home, especially in this market! Good luck and thanks for taking us along. PS….. I bet you got the house by writing a letter to the sellers telling them you’d love and cherish it. When we sold our home thats what worked for me. We had four offers the first day all significantly over asking, how do you decide? The one couple wrote us a letter 👍❤️ won! Congratulations!

After looking at 40 homes, one of interest was reduced on price. I gathered my family Mom, sibs, and kids and took a look. I was excited walking up to the door. Looking through the front door I said to my Mom this is it. She smiled and said let's look at it first. I lived in a 1790 Cape Farmhouse in Massachusetts. It takes vision, patience and a dedicated love of old homes to modernize a beautiful old home like this. I will be watching with great interest!

I was told I had severed rotator cuff tears that would not heal without surgery. I opted to go to physical therapy and get a second opinion and was told they were 97% positive they could rectify my situation without surgery. The pain in my arm and shoulder was excruciating at times but after PT I am doing well without surgery.
So happy I waited!

I wanted to come back and watch this home tour for a 2nd time anyways but sorry for the glitches 1st time around. I LOVE the new home. I am not an open concept person, so this house is right up my alley with all of the different rooms. My 1st thought went I heard you found the new house was "She doesn't need to wallpaper now!" Your old home is beautiful but I am excited to see you decorate this one. Good luck on the move, selling,etc. and especially your shoulder. Congratulations!

Best wishes and congratulations in your new home. The exact same feeling happened to me when we found our unicorn home. We lived in it for 47 years and made a lot of memories. There was such a connection between our home and us. It has been 2 years since we moved and we recently passed by it. We definitely left our mark on our home because are presence can still be felt there. I am really excited to see how you are going to decorate your new home.

It is often when you let go and let god/universe do the work that you get guided and connected to the right house. That is what happened to us; after looking and making offers on lots of homes we thought “almost” made our check list, we got discouraged and stepped back and the very next week we were guided to what is now our “perfect” home. Do make a “MUST HAVE” list, do NOT settle, and do set the intention that you are being guided to the perfect home, for the highest and best good of ALL concerned. And it does work!! Congratulations to the both of you!
