I went to KERALA | INDIA

  • Alright, so yeah - I said I'd never go back to India again after last time. But I'm eating those words because here I am, headed right back to Kerala and the Munnar region. This little travel vlog entry follows my attempt to find some peace in India's famous tea plantations.
The chaos of India really did a number on me before, but I figured I'd give it another shot now that some time has passed. Maybe I'm just mentally prepared this time for the culture shock. Either way, Flora and I aren't really city people, so we deliberately sought out Munnar for a quieter, nature-focused experience.
    ► Timestamps:
    00:00 - 00:50 Intro
00:50 - 02:30 Early morning, getting to Tea plantation
    02:30 - 05:10 Exploring Tea plantation
    05:10 - 06:30 Forced to leave
    ► Who am I?
    I'm Oskar, a 28-year-old Swede.
I've always had a certain love for film, and good stories in general. However, it wasn't until recently that I decided I wanted to start creating them myself. So even though I'm a complete beginner with no clue what I'm doing, I'm very passionate about improving, learning the craft of filmmaking and storytelling. I want to experience as much as possible and live a life that's actually worth documenting. My hope is that this channel will eventually produce films that other people can extract some value from, even if it's just entertainment. I also hope it will work as a sort of archive, a collection of memories, a way for me to look back on my life.
I don't know the direction the channel will take. It's not just about travel, even though I tend to do a lot of it. It's about stories, experiences, life, or whatever else I find interesting in life. The content will probably be all over the place and change over time, just like me.
So yeah, here's my attempt. Follow me if you want to.

You must go to Kolukummali Tea Estate. It's the Highest Tea Estate in the world. A 3 hour super bumpy Jeep ride to the Top but absolutely worth it.
I went there during the first week of Monsoon and I was "Walking in the clouds". The views are to die for.
DO NOT MISS IT ! YOU WILL REGRET IT LATER IF YOU DON'T VISIT.

@@OskarViking Hey please do visit Kodaikanal. I'm from Kerala and I visited the place. It was beautiful I stayed at a hotel called abhirami residence and I highly recommend food from the nearby hilltop restaurant. The hotel also has a cafeteria but hilltop restaurant is a more premium experience. You can eat corn roasted over coals on the streets as a snack. Be sure to check out Guna cave and many other beautiful places while you stay there. You can ride a boat on a nearby lake as well. Be careful with the chocolates cuz most of the times if you look carefully you can see flies in the glass cabinet where the chocolates are kept.

India gets a bad rep for being dirty and chaotic because most tourists only visit the so called ‘golden triangle’ - Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Tourists should completely avoid those places and visit the actual nice areas - Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, and the Northeast are mostly nice, and outskirts of other states are nice too. Basically avoid all big cities if you hate crowds and chaos and you should be fine

Ernakulam - There only, we have Fort Kochi, vibrant streets and beach with a colonial/Dutch touch

As you love nature 😍 it's good for me to recommend you some places as i am a freaking nature lover . Visit Northeast India most calm and beautiful places like Meghalaya it has mountain, jungle, waterfalls, natural hanging bridges , and most of the Northeastern states are mountainy , full of nature and the food is also different if you try or find local. And very noth India like Jammu and Kashmir, Shimla, Manali , Sikkim , Darjeeling. In the west you have desert ( i wont recommend this time of the year) , Goa, costal areas throughout India like Kerala, Tamilnadu, Odisha , West Bengal (but mostly coastal sides) you have so many national parks to choose from in almost every state. The beaches of Andaman and Nicobar and Laxwadeep islands.

Some states in India that have many close-to-Nature places:
    Himachal Pradesh
    Uttarakhand
North-east India (Meghalaya, Sikkim, Darjeeling etc)
    Ladakh
    Kashmir
And a lot of other places too but I don't know much so sorry!
(I haven't been to south India yet, so I can't say much about that. South Indian bros do write your suggestions!)

excellent vlog, but the comments of Keralites SHOCKED me. I myself am not from North India but Northeast India, even if we are basically ignored by central government majority of the time, we don't play pretend to be seperatists just because western media and Internet calls us Indians a myriad of different things. We look different, have different culture, and less polluted than probably both North and South India. The intention of this comment is not to insult anyone or to say my region is superior to you guys, but it is seriously lame seeing you guys jump boat just because of opinions of foreigners.
We have our own seperatist group here called the Alpha and we consider them terrorists. Be better

Communism has notably failed, and Kerala is particularly suffering due to corrupt communist leaders. The state lacks industries and employment opportunities. Even the tourism sector is declining as the government fails to take initiatives for improvement. Historically, the government has discouraged investment in the state, forcing many people to migrate to Gulf and European countries for better opportunities. However, the people of Kerala, having experienced higher living standards abroad, strive to adopt similar standards back home. Ironically, the communist party claims credit for these developments. Meanwhile, communist leaders have become multimillionaires, sending their children to foreign universities and setting them up in jobs or businesses abroad. Simultaneously, they have recruited political loyalists through the SFI, their student wing, who are expected to obey, fight, and even kill for them.
