Très beau duo de deux grands ténors d'une grande musicalité
it is so pleasant to hear together these two beautiful voices:-)))
Merritt and Blake make you see how good they are at singing those devilishly difficult bits,
Kunde and Florez make them sound easy.

2 grands techniciens qui se respectent et s'estiment dans leur travail réciproque. Chacun est différent - moins de pure vocalité pour Kunde qui est plus ancien dans le métier et JDF qui a moins de tension dramatique. Le résultat est excellent car 'l'affrontement' du duo n'en est que plus intéressant. J'adore les 2 et leur immense respect de la partition

Just saw La Donna del Lago with Florez and John Osborn over the weekend. This duet reminds me a lot of the duet those two had in the first act. This repertoire would be incredibly fun to sing someday!

Dos grandes tenores. Flórez el mejor ligero en la actualidad y kunde un tenor muy completo. Actualmente canta papeles de heroico magníficamente, con buena técnica, buen gusto a sus 64 años, sin voz engolada y sin forzar (como por ejemplo Domingo y Kaufmann) Pero sin el marketing de otros.
No falta como siempre quién se meta a hablar mal de Plácido Domingo, hasta cuándo no comprenden que no podemos comparar tesituras tan diferentes. Domingo canta como barítono y sin embargo la gente va a sus conciertos. En el mundo del canto clásico hay espacios para todos y cuanto más para alguien que es respetado por todo lo que ha hecho y por el amor que le tiene a su profesión. Muchos se retiran porque desean hacerlo, Domingo tiene el dinero que necesita para vivir pero desea seguir en el arte porque ama lo que hace. No hay cosa más linda que hacer lo que se ama hasta el último día de sus vidas.

i like Florez very much, but i like the other tenor, G.Kunde, in this duett very much too. with villazon it didnt make that good an impression for me, even if there is Flórez too. i don´t know what it is what is better here:-)) this duett is really perfect:-)))

Son voces diferentes pero con gran técnica. Hoy día en la cuerda tenoril la técnica escasea. Y ellos la tienen. Kraus y correlli por ejemplo eran voces totalmente diferentes pero cada uno poseían una técnica magnífica, por nombrar dos tenores del pasado.
Gimenez is good, but nothing like Florez,He(Florez) is the "official" Rossini tenor,his voice,his technique absolute unique!

You all have to be kidding. As the senior vocal coach and tenor for Sarah Caldwell's Boston Opera (YES, I KNOW) , you must be kidding. Have you heard the recording with Domingo? Domingo beat the CR--- out of all these guys, even in his sixties. He was not ashamed that his voice was not a match. BUT IT WAS FABULOUS. A much better match for Florez, the finest singer of my lifetime
All lovers of Bel Canto singing, please treat yourself to the Merritt-Blake version of this outstanding duet, also on TH-cam. JDF has a wonderfully florid and lyrical
instrument, ideally suited for the lighter works of Rossini, but this performance
lacks the voices with sufficient virile and masculine timbre to truly portray the passion and lust of this Romantic tragedy.
Listen to the first few minutes of each and compare Sr. Florez to Mr. Blake.

@sfbirdclub Kunde is very respected, especially amoungst fellow leggieros. He may not have the most beautiful voice in the repertory, but he is a consummate artist. If you don't know that you shouldn't be a vocal coach for shit.

Juan Diego Flórez, gran tenor, qué bien aprendió la lección del canto inteligente que muy pocos tenían ya a finales del siglo XX. Por desgracia no está nada bien acompañado en esta interpretación, magnífica por su parte (salvando ciertas nasalidades y algún que otro error de respiración), pero absolutamente coja, pues por la otra mitad el dúo mejor hubiera quedado mudo. No merece la pena.

I think this must be a different performance than the surreptitiously recorded one that was up at one time. Kunde is certainly not as good in this one, and not only because you can't see him act.

Dal vivo il giovane tenore Gregory Kunde aveva una voce piccola piccolina e poco bella .
Durante le sue recite mi addormentavo, talmente piccolina era la sua vocina .
1 Pavarotti = 10 Kunde e ancora….
