Considering the Soviet era jets, this is a big step forward. I checked your ticket price, and quite frankly, you got good value. For seat width, all you have to do is lift up one or two armrests to widen your seat. Regarding entertainment, that’s what smartphones and personal tablets are for. Most of you have no clue what EFI’s run at. Try $14,000 or more… per seat!!

For the price, uia offers a competitive product. I flew with them from Amsterdam to Astana. Yes, no ife. At all. But comfy well padded seats and lots of leg room. Good meals too (they had a complimentary one on the leg from Amsterdam too). Where they have a problem is on-time performance. If you have tight connections or have to be somewhere at an exact time no ifs ands or buts, you have to weigh your options carefully.
If you’ve ever took a train in Ukraine then it’s pretty normal to have one huge tv for everyone to watch instead of your own personal screen. So it doesn’t surprise me to see the same sort of get-up in their planes as well. Most Ukrainians sleep so in-flight entertainment isn’t a big deal. As long as they feed you, give you drinks then it keeps them happy. My wife traveled to Canada with me and she didn’t bother with the movies or tv shows even though she had her own screen. She was just enjoying the flight even though it was 10 hours from Vienna to Toronto. I couldn’t live without inflight entertainment even though most times I play my Nintendo switch or 3DS but if there’s a few movies I never seen then it’s nice to have at least the option. My wife wanted to take the direct flight from borispol to Toronto non-stop but knowing that the flight may have not had inflight entertainment made me choose otherwise. I love Ukraine though. Totally awesome place.
I flew on UIA's 767 from JFK to KBP. Very outdated cabin. As seen in this video, the overhead bins are also really small. The crew had to pile handbags atop one another in the back galley during take off as there was no room for them in the overhead bins. The seats are extremely narrow. So much so that the thighs of my roommate we're touching mine (we were both average hight and weight). Also as mentioned in this video, there was very poor entertainment with the same 3 movies playing on a loop. With no map showing the progress of the flight, it felt endless. Although the service was quite average, it's an airlines equipment that makes or breaks a product. I'm really looking forward to UIAs 777s and I hope this will bring great improvement to the airline.
They've operated the 777-200ER for a short period then retired them, probably because of COVID. I've seen that they're placing order for some old 777-300s (not the ER variant)
I’ve flown on FAR worse flights than this. Good legroom on a twin aisle 767. Before IFE everyone brought something to read and we also slept. My first flight to Europe was on a prop plane. Very noisy and so slow. Decent legroom is key. Almost any flight without a crying baby is a good flight!
Only positive thing I can say about this is that the seats look comfortable so I'd probably down a bunch of sleeping pills so I can't be awake during this boring flight.
Tbh I don’t need ife, I rather sleep on a 11hrs flight. Okay sometimes I skip the first meal service ( less than 8hrs flight) and order it later on. But again the ife is mostly off on my seat. I’m comfortable on older cabins since I have flown with a lot of old 767s IL86 TU 154 727 and older 747s. Read a book! Go to sleep! Without noise canceling headphones you only kill your ears trying to listen to the movies...
A very interesting location, airline, and experience, Felix. Did you get some sleep? For all the dated equipment, the crowded conditions, and mediocre food...it still looked like an average economy flight...these days.
They don't have IFE , and it sucks . But you can buy a brand new iPad for the fare difference vs other airlines. And watch it during the flight and keep it. BTW (almost) new 777s will replace current UIAs 767s in the next couple years.
Sir, if that is already bad wait till Feb. When you ride aboard your Cebu Pacific A330 on the way to Manila 8 hours of nothing (anyways its a long haul lcc so yeah)
Abysmal cabin. Throwback to the times when the armrest ashtray was the only personal IFE you got a long-haul flight. The boxy 767 interior looks really dated. Wondering why haven't they done an overhaul to Signature interior or the NuLook aftermarket kit.
believe it or not i miss this old school economy .. as you said the legroom and the seat of the modern airline is not as good as the old ones ... i would scarify entertainment to get a better seat.
I'm so old, I remember when planes had no IFE (the 80's). The interior was rather dated and tired. Food service looked ok. Could have been a US flag carrier from 1995. I wonder if the plane flew over Russia with the current problems with both countries?
They don't fly over Russia (and most Russian airlines don't fly over Ukraine). In fact there are no direct flights between Russia and Ukraine for the past two years.
Interesting trip report.. While IFE is important, more and more pax only use their tablets to watch saved content during a flight. Still IFE gives me a chance to enjoy a couple of recently released movies during a lh flight. I wouldn't mind trying UIA, for bargain bucket fare, Inc in business (business section was also rather dated)
Hello! 1 year ago UIA began using B777 on the most of their long-haul flights. They now have upgraded their service and they have IFE! Are you going to test them in future?
Wow... well, the flight report is very interesting, as there are not many of those reports from UIA. However, I wouldn´t have flown with them. This cabin is way to old and no personal IFE might get a bit boring if you don´t bring your own device. Food looked quite ok, similar to others, of course. Interesting insight views of this airlines! Thanks for sharing
Hopefully the services will be better when they can “eventually” fly again from their main base. Nice to see they’re flying different routes outside Ukraine atm tho

But again the ife is mostly off on my seat. I’m comfortable on older cabins since I have flown with a lot of old 767s IL86 TU 154 727 and older 747s. Read a book! Go to sleep! Without noise canceling headphones you only kill your ears trying to listen to the movies...
07:52 Is that a Katherine Heigl movie? My goodness, they are out of date on this airline!
Thnx for filming that, try to visit Ukraine without connection flights) and outro words are just awesome
A very interesting location, airline, and experience, Felix. Did you get some sleep? For all the dated equipment, the crowded conditions, and mediocre food...it still looked like an average economy flight...these days.
14:36 I really appreciated that the Ukranian cabin crew is trying his best to speak Chinese in the passenger announcement.
This is one of the worst airlines that you've done a trip report on. NO PERSONAL TV SCREEN? WTF? FOR A 10 HOUR FLIGHT!!!
Welcome to post-Soviet countries!
MasterAustin and what take your godamn iPad with you
MasterAustin I did it form lhr-sfo hahaha. Time passes my dude
They don't have IFE , and it sucks . But you can buy a brand new iPad for the fare difference vs other airlines. And watch it during the flight and keep it. BTW (almost) new 777s will replace current UIAs 767s in the next couple years.
MasterAustin It's Ukraine bro)
You need to check your camera.. strange noise when zooming and focusing :D
Can't wait for the next video! Keep it up!
Cool video keep up the great work 👍👍
2-4-2 for 767 🙌 Reminds me when I flew Thai Lion in A330-300 with 3-3-3 config, feels claustrophobic
jin air B777 3-4-3
@@ybpark345 2-4-2 on 767 and 3-3-3 on A330 is WAY more cramped than 3-4-3 on 777.
@@ybpark345 It is the usual seat configuration for a b777
@@Jjjjj19282 보통 B777은 3-3-3인데. LC는 3-4-3
@@ybpark345 Emirates has 3-4-3 too and so does many other airlines.
I was on this same airplane flying from Kiev to Toronto; don't forget your earplugs!
Sir, if that is already bad wait till Feb. When you ride aboard your Cebu Pacific A330 on the way to Manila 8 hours of nothing (anyways its a long haul lcc so yeah)
Normal TH-camr: I'm going on a trip I can't record.
Simply Aviation: I only record when I travel.
2-4-2 in a 767? Didn’t know that’s even possible until now :-) Never seen more than 2-3-2.
Only possible in UIA 767. ;)
If I recall correctly, Air Mauritius used to have 2-4-2 configured 767-200ERs, one of the rare few haha
Josef Richter I’ve seen in in a TUI 767-300 I flew on to Turkey a while ago
@@simply_aviation Since you went to Ukraine, Im glad you managed to leave before the war even started, #Saveukraine
Welcome to Ukraine!Beijing-Kiev really interesting flight!Hope u enjoyed:)
Ukrainian airlines are banned from the Russian airspace and vice versa.
Were you really tired during the midnight flight Felix?
They still have the legendary classic -500 and -300.cool
Congratulations, good video. haha Those applauses!
Why is there no TV? WTF?
Old plane man, Aeroflot's 767 didnt have IFE's up until 7 months ago
You really can't figure it out by yourself?
Wing_ Pics The rest of their long-haul fleet did, however.
Vasconium yep, I had the misfortune to fly their 767 from JKF to Sheremetyevo
I never use them even on long haul flights, but that's just me
Interesting trip report..
Minute 10:18,CALZEDONIA it will be a nice place to Travel
Wow... well, the flight report is very interesting, as there are not many of those reports from UIA.
Well, nowadays the new A320 doesnt even have IFE, so you should be happy that you have SOMETHING.
Amazing as always pals
Love that the male FA in the end tried his best to make the arrival announcement in mandarin... and I am now trying my best to make a sense out of what he said
Have you ever been afraid/felt not safe on a plane you took?
I would be hesitant flying with e.g. some Russian airlines (Aeroflot has become quiet good as I have read).
Sehr schön. UIA scheint mir trotzdem sehr suspekt. Was ist jetzt ihr persönliches Resümee des Fluges?
Why are there personel controls for entertainment when you do not have your own personel screen?
Ali Saiem if you have a headphone adapter you can play music.
Ali Saiem Back in the day before every seat has their own entertainment system, airlines only had various radio station with different type of music choices. In the beginning of the video, Felix mentioned it was. 1992 build plane. I'm assuming that they never updated the system....just like the interior looked dated.
Thanks to you 2
those were to change channel for music..each channel has different genre of music..
radio
Prices for buy on board food and drink are shown in Euros because the airline wants the hard currency.
Please fly on Virgin Atlantic it is very nice
Yes virgin
God bless ukrain 🙏🏻
So weird... air travel kind of represents the pinnacle of modern, advanced and civil society, the opposite of war and conflict... so to see a place that was previously covered in a casual tripreport suddenly in the mids of a war zone is truly impactful...
No
Headphones and no ptvs. Seems legit lol
I have to wonder, did the plane have in-headrest music stations? That's what the Lufthansa planes that I went on in 2008 had.
Make a Report from Delta 767-300ER/400ER from FRA-DTW, please!!!
The meal looked pretty good to me! Dont forget you are flying in a metal Cigar tube flying at 500 mph not sitting in a 5 star Michelin restaurant !
I like how you said when the aircraft was built
I thinked when I saw the video picture oh a 2hr flight but what it is a 10hr flight. How much did the tickets cost. If you could say it.
I know im 7 years late but the advantages of an old plane
Comfy seats
Good legroom
Disadvantages:
Usually no IFE
Respect 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Love your video as always.
Your video is amazing as always. My first impression about this video is the huge TV in the B767, it's very very rare to see it on a B767 nowadays XD. I really love your video because it's rare to travel by Ukraine International and to onboard that old plane with a huge TV. One like for the rare and old B767 and one subscribe for your another amazing video. I look forward to seeing your next rare videos :D
