From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defences, take this beast out, and break their grip of Freehold.

There's a quote by Toland that says that the Pyramid on the Moon has the ability to terraform.
The Collector's Edition journal states that the rock surrounding the artifact found in the Moon dates back to the beginning of the Ocean of Storms at least, going as far back as the Moon's formation.
The Moon crash is succeeded by the first signs of life on Earth in real history.
Unveiling reveals that the Deep reached out and Earth's lifeforms began to take shape as predators and prey.
    This is so feckin' cool.

I just want to point out that it's 100% true, if we believe our modern real life science, at least. We wouldn't exist if primal bacteria on Earth didn't evolve. Conflict is what breeds evolution. The Darkness _is_ conflict. That's what it embodies.
The last entry of this book makes a compelling argument: Mara reaffirms her statement that balance between Light and Dark is needed, but clarifies that balance does not mean equality. Some Darkness is needed in the universe, but only a small amount.

@White knight I think you are overlooking a key aspect of the winnowers logic. It is not that the darkness thinks all life ends in decay and rot without death, it's that the spreading of resources between everything, including the weak, is to the detriment to life. The winnower seeks to sort the weak from the strong, so the strong may flourish. Competition, even within species, is the preferred outcome for darkness. It's maladaptive to behave in a way that weakens your species. The darkness would say the cannibalization of the weak is adaptive because it purges weakness from a species.
The idea is that the gardener plants many plants, but the winnower cuts away the weeds allowing the garden to flourish.
The truth is that the Darkness isn't "wrong", but it neglects the benefit of cooperation between individuals and species. It neglects the idea that weaker life can strengthen stronger life more by cooperating filling a separate niche than by not existing at all. Thus the gardener and winnower require one another and they both lack an understanding of this. It is therefore, not light, not darkness, that matters, but rather a combination of the two.

It's interesting that the Darkness speaks of the Cambrian Explosion as it's enactor by it's sword logic, when the Traveler/Gardener notes that it represents all life and complexity which is what the Cambrian Explosion, in all it's mysteries, represents. It was an explosion of complex lifeforms and body plans that would be inherited and adapted by multitudes of lifeforms generations later. Plus, considering it was an explosion of complexity and life, it would lend itself more to the Light's Bomb Logic would it not?
Also wanted to relay this from what I wrote on Myelin's latest and related video:
The Winnower/The Darkness/The Deep makes some compelling arguments, after all destruction and death and not inherently evil and serve as necessities. Cellular apoptosis exists in cells to prevent cancer from arising, and the death of life also serves a purpose to replenish and nourish the life that comes after it.
Yet, at the same time, as is the Winnower's penchant for reductionism, we may be only getting a distilled version of the events rather than all the nuances that perhaps the Gardener/Traveller is aware of. Remember, the Winnower/The Darkness/The Deep only sees existence as the right to exist, everything else is mostly superfluous. But the Gardener sees this as squandering a vast amount of unknown potential and what could be. The Darkness believes that if doesn't quash unworthy life the cosmos would become nothing more than an undying tumor growing endlessly and begging to die but unable to.
Yet is that absolutely the outcome that could occur? The Gardener/Traveller may, in fact, see that in the potential for life and it's complexities that other solutions could circumvent or mitigate such a grim future....that it could become something transcendent. Beyond what the two prime movers could have ever envisioned.
What if the Darkness isn't just trying to destroy the Traveller and it's works because it fears the cancerous cosmos outcome, but is afraid of being proven wrong. Remember, the sword logic is the principle it holds true and absolute....but what if it were not so? In that case, everything the Winnower/The Darkness/The Deep lives to represent would be a lie, and by it's own logic...it would be the superfluous and unnecessary one? It would have no more purpose. It could not have that.

The Gentlesaurian Velocidapper What if our paracausality was an accident. Something that defies the Light and the Dark’s logic. We can defy the unyielding entropy of the Universe, one born from chaos. Thus the Darkness like you said wishes to TAKE that away. Because when one is taken, they become causal to their masters whims. The Light did not expect it either. We were meant to just merely survive the onslaught of the Collapse not out live it become something more than that. To become Guardians, we changed the fundamentals of the Universe. The Cambrian Explosion was a defiance of nature against the logic of the Garden. Other worlds caught in the battle between the Logics have always completely collapsed from what we can tell. We as humans are special, we have a history of defiance from our greatest ancestors. It is in our genetics that gives is this paracausality. We are resilient together. The species before us and including modern day survive not because of the mutations of evolution but because of their ability to work together. The microscopic life during the Explosion survived together and so did early humans. We are paracausal because we work together not by the Logic of the Sword. We were created from the Darkness and Lights primordial war but our world specifically changed the game, forever. We can only beat the threats to our world because we are fireteams. Atheon was alone. Crota was alone. Oryx was alone. The Archeon was alone. Calus is alone. Riven was alone. Insurrection Prime was alone. Ghalran was alone. The Sanctified Mind was alone. We as Gaurdians fight together.

    • @TheGuardingDark_
      @TheGuardingDark_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

But that complexity would never have been realized without the sword logic's effect on the laws of nature.
Life-forms would never have needed to adapt new advantageous traits. If those without advantageous traits had not been culled by the natural processes of disease, predation, and plain and simple Inferiority to their genetic competitors.
Our mistake is seeing the light and dark as mutually exclusive. Life cannot exist without death and decay to grow from.

Interestingly, prior to the Cambrian Explosion the first major impetus in multi-cellular life and the current complexity of the biosphere is due to the endosymbiosis of the nucleus of the cell and mitochondrial cells. Whether the mitochondria first entered the eukaryotic cell due to predation of the cell on the progenitor of the mitochondrion, or whether the mitochondrion was trying to feel a predator itself, the mitochondrion ended up forming a symbiotic relationship with the nucleus allowing the cell to process oxygen to generate energy. This sudden powerhouse allowed it to flourish, and we see this today in that all complex multicellular life includes mitochondria in its cells. So the Darkness's first triumph on our world was predated by another great triumph of the Light and of cooperation. An important lesson to keep in mind for when Byf says that this cannot be taken as the whole truth, because even our own science and history proves that some of what it says is not the whole truth or is perhaps edited to make its own words more compelling...

One thing you can tell for sure is that the darkness weaves lies into truth and that truth becomes the truth by which the darkness spreads its tendrils to beings to grow its armies. It's life versus destruction. One cannot exist without the other and the very thought that it can win is the reason why the darkness will never have what it wishes for. As you said byf. We may lose battles but the war continues.

Consider what the conflict between the Light and Dark started over. A finale Pattern. A pattern must have parts, it can’t be a single thing. That means that at the end of the game some things must exist, not the nothing of the heat death of the universe. I propose that the finale arrangement isn’t nothing but it is a form of life in a society that fends off entropy. Imagine that time and entropy which are almost synonyms might be the same thing, and that it is also a flower. This means that something can survive the heat death of the universe and is effectively immortal, and are then reborn into the next universe once the Light and Dark start the game again. And I urge you to consider that the survivor could be intelligent life. For the only way to beat entropy is to continue to be reborn or to continue to birth more of yourself and build anew. Large society and knowledge might not be a product of the Light. It might be a product of the Darkness, the only way to beat time and entropy is to exist in a large society, developing new technology to reconstruct and build new the things that break. Entertainment to keep the entropy of the mind at bay. In this way weakening the individual is the only way to strengthen the whole and the whole is all that can survive entropy. A mother protects her child and that child protects their child and so on. Existing potentially forever and assuming it’s place in the finale shape. That means the things you attribute to the Light might actually be from the Darkness, they are the only things that let us exist long after everything else has died. But the Light isn’t satisfied with that outcome, it seeks change, it seeks variety. Part of that variety is the potential end of everything except entropy, it might also include the death of entropy. But that may not be a good thing, in this way a universe might break the order of nature, it could have unknownable effects on every universe in existence or it might have none at all. That is a terrible risk, freedom vs security is a common concept but it is a balance not a one sided argument.

This is why Gambit is considered the "Grey Guardian" gametype. You have Crucible, which hones your skills on being a predator, teaching you how to fight against an enemy, much like what the Darkness was saying. Then you have Strikes: where you and other guardians team up and fight against enemy forces. Gambit does both, it is the in between.

Hey byf this is just my opinion. Currently I think the pyramid and The Traveler are like two kings on a chessboard. The chessboard being our universe. If you ever seen pictures of a chess match that ends in the drawer where the king puts the other king in check. If you think about it the king was sleeping. We did lose a queen. We did lose a bishop. We lost one of our rooke and had to move to the other one then we had to Castle our King. Currently if you look at the two positions of where the kings are on the board you will see it matches what I'm saying that both Kings put each other in check so only the pawns can move around. I have another theory that I want to share with you but I'm not sure how much of it will come to fruition but I want to gamble that I'm wrong.

I have a crazy theory but what if the garden talked about so often is The Back Garden. In then final cutscene the Darkness speaks to us in The Black Garden so what if in all reality the Sol Divisive found the garden and ran into the Darkness while there. Due to the philosophy of the darkness it could have allowed them to turn it all Vexy.

Yet another fine vid. I did have a question though. The worm gods that the Hive used to gain immortality and power were servants of the darkness. From the poem shown here, would that mean that they were the same "worms" mentioned in the "garden" that escaped first? If that was the case is it also possible that the Nine are also from the same origin. I've been out of the Destiny lore loop for a little while so I'm not completely updated on everything, but from what I remember the Nine helped the queen create a throne world just as the worms did with Oryx. I'm also curious if there's any new information concerning the nine, again I've been out of the loop recently. Any answers would be appreciated.
