Young Link, because of his very tight execution windows, is the kind of character who is awesome when the player is on his A-game, but significantly worse when he's being piloted at a B+ level. That's a fun quality if you're just playing for fun or if you aspire to maybe make one or two deep tournament runs when everything goes right for you. But for a professional, it's really bad because their bills get paid based on their ability to perform well even when they're not at their best.
@@johnclikeman5041 Probably the same case as Sheik, character is really good but it requires nearly perfect execution which is not always achievable, you can dedicate years to master a character like this and still there will be times you just won't find the setup you require to close out a stock, which must be exhausting and discouraging. That's why we don't see a lot of representation even though no one can deny those characters' potential.
I love watching pt. Im not super involved in tech so the variety of 3 characters yet simplicity of them makes it really entertaining to watch. Squirtle's sneaky evasiveness, ivy's kill conversions, and charizard's sheer terrifying kill power. Its all do hype to watch i hope quidd starts going to majors more cause his pt is a ton of fun
I personally still think PT is extremely good, top 10 char, but being so awful on ledge/the corner in Ult is a very obnoxious weakness. Like most chars in Ult have stupid good ledge trapping/corner pressure so it can be very annoying playing PT.

Them nerfing PT I think was the beginning of the end for me with Ultimate. They nerfed all the characters I wanted to play (PT, ZSS and Olimar). It was clear the designers didn't want anything good in the game and basically wanted everyone to be equal and nobody to be outstanding. I eventually lost interest in the game and sold my Switch although I still watch the competitions. I'll never forget Tweek vs MKLeo Grand Finals with PT. I really feel like Tweek just crumpled rather than Leo adapting and outplaying him. He could've and in some sense should have won that tournament. Oh well. I'd love to see him play PT again but they nerfed the character so it's a little pointless now.
You stopped playing just because they nerfed a few characters? That’s crazy, there’s so many characters and that time many DLC characters on the horizon. Surely you could’ve picked up someone else? 😔 Pre-patch PT was so Ivy reliant, so I think the balances they received were quite fair. They’re a much more well-balanced character now at only a small-cost of viability. Many put PT in the top 25-10 range, so they’re an amazing character. Saying it’s ‘pointless’ to even try using them simply isn’t true. The character still has two top reps in Quidd and Atelier and their viability at the top level is even more evident by Tweek picking PT again recently at Shine 2022. As for Olimar, I will never defend him he was so silly pre-patch. I think the nerfs were too heavy, but I’m glad they nerfed him nonetheless. The most unfortunate nerf I think you mentioned was ZSS. I still don’t know why the designers nerfed her the way they did. Why nerf her approaching options and not her actual problematic move flip jump? The nerfs only incentivise ZSS to camp more and I really just never understood it. And after all the patches they never even bothered fixing her janky multi-hits (side-B, up-B AND forward air) which I think is especially unfortunate :(
I am pretty sure Pokemon trainer was peak Tweek... I don't understand all this falling off talk. Tweek had a similiar run with Wario, but Tweek's Wolf is TRASH compared to his PT.
I think because of how much game knowledge Tweek has, he looks too deep into it. Tweek simply did better in tournaments with PT. I think he was at his prime in this game then. Should give it another serious shot.
