Frodo: I can’t do this, Sam.
Sam: I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for.

My dad has passed away one year ago at the age of 41 and this song was played at his funeral. My mom, my brother, my sister and I decided that it would be great to have all the people listen to this absolutely stunning song. Every time I hear it, I cry but also smile because it reminds me so much of him. R.I.P. You are remembered and loved

I'm so sorry for your loss. 41 is far too young to leave behind a family. I know that nothing I say, much less on a youtube comment, will ease the pain you're no doubt still feeling, but for what it's worth, your father was clearly blessed to have been surrounded by loved ones like yourselves. A family who would play music from the Shire to remember me by? I can't think of a more fitting tribute, or one which I would be more honored to receive from my family when my time comes. Anyone who appreciates music like this, in my book, must also have an appreciation for what makes life worth living. A peaceful home filled with laughter and sunshine, the beauty of nature and things that grow, family and the people special to you at your side, and of course, plenty of good food and good stories to share with them! If those were the things you cherished together while he was here, then I count him a lucky man indeed. There are men twice your father's age who cannot look back on their lives and say it was filled with as much joy as his was, of this I am certain.

Thank you so much for your lovely and kind words. You made my day! Your words are so great and help so much. You described him so perfectly well without even knowing him and I am so grateful that people remember him and think of him even a year on.
I truly hope you have a blessed, healthy and great life and stay this positive and I have no doubt that your family and friends are proud to have you as a part of their lives. Thank you for your words and thoughts.

But going through your comment made me have water in my eyes. Stay strong my friend, there is a beautiful world after this life. I hope your father would be happy and watching you over from somewhere. Just have faith. Amen!

Pippin :" I didn't think it would end this way."
Gandalf :" End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path. One that we all must take...The gray rain curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass. And then you see it.''
    Pippin: "What, Gandalf? See what?"
Gandalf: "White shores. And beyond, the far green country, under a swift sunrise."
Pippin: "Well, that isn't so bad."
    Gandalf: "No. No, it isn't."
    Dat scene.

As I grew older I realized that the most emotional part of the trilogy, at least for me, is the scene when hobbits, after they had returned to the Shire, sat in Green Dragon and, while holding their pints, watching each other without saying any words. You could see in their eyes that they were not belonging in the Shire anymore, not after all they have been through. It's just what Frodo says: "How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand... there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep, that have taken hold."

+Isaac Cano Use your time wisely and bring to pass much good. Help others if you can. Bring comfort, cheer and help to all around you, especially to those in need of this world's goods. Stand faithful to all your promises and obligations. Be anxiously engaged in good works. Then when you stand before the Lord, He will be proud of you and show you the kingdom He has prepared for you. He will share His glory with you, beyond your wildest expectations.

+Lakshmi Guna - They are good size volumes, however I remember the first time I read them (for school) I couldn't put them down. I would be reading and look at the clock and it would be 1:00am!!If you are not an avid reader set limits, like one chapter a day or however much you can manage in a certain time. In my family, we read a lot because my parents were not big on watching the telly all the time. So we read. I wish the best in your reading and you can do it, just don't give up. When you feel over whelmed google whatever is muddling you. lol that always helps me out.

As much as I feel broken in this world, as hopeless as I'll get, this music brings me peace. It gets me through those nights where I lay endlessly awake. Middle-Earth has saved my life for that matter. It gives me hope that one day I can form a fellowship of my own, going on adventures, creating endless amounts of stories... being happy. That seems to be the only thing I am holding on to anymore.

I read a ton of stories. I like fantasy, science fiction, comic books, historical fiction, mystery, and anything I can get my hands on. Like many people, I suppose, I have little worlds tucked away in my head, each populated with numerous characters; heroes and villains, each with their part to play. I love each of these worlds dearly, and visit them often. Sometimes I'm beneath the sea with Captain Nemo, helping him run the Nautilus, sometimes I'm above the clouds with Captain Picard, standing on the bridge of the Enterprise. Other times I'm flying over the Metropolis skyline with Superman or scouring the mean streets of Victorian London with Sherlock Holmes. From time to time I'll stop by Hogwarts and catch up with some old friends, or decide to be silly and help Calvin and Hobbes build a snowman. But the one world that stands out in my mind the most, the one that I truly call home, is Middle Earth. When I've put everything else away, when every other world grows stale, I'm still happy to visit the Shire and see Gandalf's fireworks.

It can reach right down into your soul and pluck on your heartstrings, or it can pick you up and send you flying over the clouds to places you've never been. If I may be permitted to quote Dumbledore on a LOTR video, "Ah, music," he said, wiping his eyes. "A magic beyond all we do here!"

This music now makes my eyes water. It was one thing seeing them in the theater when I was in High School with friends. It's ANOTHER THING re-watching them in theaters yesterday in 2018 after my friend passed away (a friend who I saw Fellowship with). So I went alone to the theater yesterday on my day off and watched the Trilogy after a decade of not watching them.
It was far more emotional than I remembered. Now that I'm older, it makes me appreciate how it was all about Friendship. At the time it was just cool to see big battles with Wizards / Orcs / Knights... watching Frodo and Sam's friendship was REALLY HARD not to think about my friend who is no longer here. Yet I felt like he was sitting right beside me again. I couldn't help but cry when this music played and Sam and Frodo were together. All I could think about was Tony.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.
Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell,
nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat:
it was a hobbit-hole and that meant comfort.

Its funny how the world can be so sweet and beautiful like this music but other times it can be terrible and ugly. You can be walking through a beautiful meadow and then pass through a smelly swamp right after. You can walk the fields of the Shire and then walk the harsh and rough region of Mordor. People are the same way sadly. I wish everyone could just live peacefully. Why doesn't everyone tend to there own little field and when their work is done they come together and fellowship. Nothing is better than living life with sweet, understanding people. I guess the rough places and times are there because it makes you appreciate the good places and times. Theres not a better feeling than getting through a rough day and coming home to your sweet wife and kids and finding your recliner and feeling satisfied. Who knows maybe the world will finally rest and peace will reign.

Sam Fairley The darkness around us is only a passing thing, it cannot endure forever. Even in the blackest pits of despair that this mortal life throws before you, there is goodness and light within each of us, my friend. We have only to let it shine out onto the world. Since I cannot shine for my neighbors, I will be content with shining for myself, and hope that they will follow. I believe that one day, when enough good people allow themselves to shine forth like so many stars in the night sky, the darkness that has plagued us since the dawn of man will finally be defeated, and the world will know a golden age of peace and happiness unlike any it has known before.

Life can be depressing, discouraging, lonely, dark, etc. etc. but don't let it get you down as Robert has said. Love, joy, hope, peace, and happiness are even found in the darkest times. Just look around you and you will find happiness. One of the biggest problems in our world today is that people don't take time just to look at how complex and beautiful our world is. I mean just look at the trees in there beauty and majesty or take a look at the sky with its colors and beauty or cast your eyes to the lovely people in your life. Even if they get on your nerves or hurt you emotionally just forgive them because no one is perfect and somewhere along the line we have done the same to some one. As we all know life can be downright tough and depressing but it's called life for a reason. Life is meant to be live to the fullest even in the darkest times. Here in the West people can forget that life is not centered around money, fame, or glory. Life is everything really. The good and bad. We learn to accept and move on on the bad things and cherish and remember the good things. Death is also a part of this world unfortunately. I recently figured that out when my beloved Mimi past on. At first I was sad but then I remember that she was in a better place where beauty and love is always around. Sometimes I wish I could live in Middle Earth and see the beautiful fields of the Shire, or the majestic city of Gondor, or the Mysterious woods of the elves. But for them to have Life they had to go through a dark time. But it passed as most dark things do. When I draw my last breath I will remember the good and bad things. I will remember the times that I regretted and the times that I never want to forget. Times that hurt will always show up but times that are beautiful and lovely will always show up as well. As we approach the 4th of July and the celebration of our countries' birth, we must not forget those that led us to that. We must stand for our freedoms that corrupt leaders try to take away. We must remember those serving as well as those that died serving. To finish this off I want to say one thing. Don't ever give up on life. Cause the time that you may be going through is just a faze of this life. Just stick with it and you will turn out alright. Even if it feels like the world itself is going against you just remember your not the only one. People everyday are going through the same as you are. Just take life as it comes at you and don't worry about the future. As Gandalf said "All we have to do is decided what to do with the time that is given to us."

I’m 23 years old And I want you to know that you are not the only one. Listening to this tonight after a night out on my way home and decided to read some comments and yours really made me relate. Decided to sit down at a place that I usually hang out with my friends. The sun is just starting to rise here in Sweden by now and it’s absolutely beautiful.
Putting this music on while just sitting by my self brought me a sense of peace tonight that I can’t remember feeling in a very long time. Listened to this on repeat a few times and I just can’t get enough. The things the movies represents to me is brought out through this music and there will never be anything that beats it if you ask me.
This will be played at my funeral
I wish you happiness and peace my fellow lord of the rings fan!

I randomly put on a Lord of the Rings soundtrack video, and started washing the dishes. By hand. I don't have a dishwasher. You know, I've been through a lot in my life. And I don't feel I'm unique in that. Perhaps we all have. Yet, here I am, still breathing, just washing the dishes. With this beautiful, peaceful music playing in the background. I cut off the water for a second, and couldn't help but cry. What a gift this music. And what a gift this life. There's great evil in this world, yes. But there's also great good. Infinite good.

I find myself always coming back to " the breaking of the fellowship". When my day or week is hectic and the world seems too chaotic and hateful this song grounds me. It reminds me of what is important in life and that is love, family, friends, the simple things too like a good warm meal, a genuine conversation, and appreciation of nature and the life in it. How all things are meant to fade away, that one should cherish what we have. This song reminds me of all these things and more.

I love this. Brings tears every time I hear it. One of my favorite times it plays is when Frodo gets in the rowboat to leave the fellowship, and Sam comes running out of the woods, and Frodo says, "Go back, Sam! I'm going to Mordor alone!" "Of course you are. And I'm coming with you!" "Sam, you can't swim! Sam!" Sam walks out, but begins to go under. Frodo finally pulls him up, and Sam says, "I made a promise, Mr. Frodo. A Promise: 'Don't you leave him Sam-Wise Gamgee.' And I don't mean to." To that I say Wow. What a friend. That scene brings tears every time.😅😅

This is the magic of music. I can listen to this for 3 seconds and immediately feel like I'm in Middle Earth with the Fellowship. Everything about The Lord of the Rings is as perfect as it gets. I geek out about a lot of things (LotR, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, Star Wars, etc), but nothing will ever make me feel the way The Lord of the Rings does. The lessons of friendship, loyalty and brotherhood are truly timeless. I only hope the great Christopher Lee is up there telling stories and laughing with Tolkien himself.

***** LOTR is like Krabby Patties. It's a universal good. From the nerdiest kid who'll talk your head off about the genealogies in the Silmarillion to the football captain jock who would never admit it but cries when Sam gives his speech, from the unemployed pothead who thinks it'd be great to try some Old Toby one day to the busy executive who still finds time to read the Hobbit to his daughter in the evening, we all cherish the stories that Tolkien wrote. When a story is good enough, when it rings true and hits so many notes in so many souls, it unites us all.

This always reminds me of this fantasy story I worked so hard on during my time in early high school and this movie was out and I was reading the books at the same time. Ah, kind of a magical time for me. Then life hit me pretty hard and that same magic isn't quite the same anymore. But I hear this and I always think of that time period.

But the real inspiration for the shire comes from the west midlands of England, located right outside of Stafford, where Tolkien stayed with his life and drew inspiration from the village.

BlackZ- The Shire does exist....it's in England. Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire in particular, but most English "shires" would look reasonably suitable. In the movies, the Shire looked wrong..no hedgerows and not enough copses. Tolkien did, after all, intend the Shire to represent the rural landscape of England.

    • @tigray7829

People go by and time moves on. I seem to be the odd one I guess to most people. I see things in this country that are terrible. I see people hating each other more and more. I see relationships break and love become bitterness. Really there is only one way to escape the pains of this life. And that my friends is Middle Earth. I just love going through LotR quotes, or listening to the soundtrack, or watching a clip of the movie, or reading a few chapters in the books. It never gets old for it in itself is timeless. I can't imagine where I would be without "walking" along with Frodo in his adventures. Life just seems to gets more dull and confusing and hurtful day by day. As time passes, Life itself seems to be dying. People in America seem to not take life as seriously as they use to. People split and take sides and cast down each other instead of helping each other up. It really breaks my heart to see America in such state. I'm afraid it won't be long until something really bad happens. But I guess that is how people learn of their mistakes. The bad times cause people to realize that life is too precious to be lived like you care for nothing. We must stop trying to change others and pointing out the bad in others and look at the bad in us and make the necessary changes. We must stop trying to point our fingers at the weak or outcast and instead, give them a hand. In order for America to remain a country we must stop fighting each other because there is no stopping the growing storm in this country unless we stand together. I once dreamed of marrying a very beautiful girl (an angel really) and having some little ones and having a job that I enjoy and some land. Now I see that dream fading as this country fades. But we must not lose hope. For in the dark times do we see the ray of light, the ray of hope. All we can do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us.

+Sam Fairley I feel as though you and Sam share the same connection and lol you both have the same name haha. Sam fell in love with Rosie just like you did with your girl but when Sam went on his journey with Frodo to destroy the ring through out the journey Sam thought he was no good for her as time went on for you, you also thought the same but Sam always had Rosie in his mind which gave him hope that he still has a chance with her and it kept him going in his journey giving him courage and bravery so when gets back he can tell her the love he had for her which I think you should do the same I mean not the same way Sam did like going on this danegerous journey haha. But you and Sam have a little bit of the same connection but like I feel as though how you described her is that I think she is the one for you, that is your task to show your love for her even though she is out your league you can still get a chance with her but that is up to you decide what to do with time that is given to you I have hope for you my fellow friend the journey does not end here...

Sam Fairley I'm glad what I said affected you and I also would like to thank you for giving me a lesson of how precious life is and how the evil here in America is taking over us and is continuously getting stronger but there is some good in this world but there is just not enough but "even the smallest person can change the course of the future." There are people we can count on to make that happen I will never forget your message I have read it so many times that each time I read it I learn something new, all i can say is just follow your dream and dont let it fade away even when you are in doubt there will be obstacles that you will have to face the smarter option is to work around them and i will do the same to acheiving my dream which is to become a professional soccer player then there will be that one day when you have finally achieved it I wish you best of luck fellow hobbit...:)

In fact, there was a scene where Sam tried carrying the ring but failed to do so because he later realized how it's becoming heavier and heavier while they're approaching Mordor where Sauron lives.

This trilogy touches our hearts because they followed the most important rule when translating something into a movie: "It's not about translating the motions or places into the movie that's most important, but about simulating why we love those motions or places that is important." We love the Shire because we spent 140-ish pages within it and it made us feel like of anyplace could be a peaceful home, it would be the Shire. The music and sets are not created to mirror what they think the Shire would look like, but to mirror how the Shire was meant to feel.

I think the beauty of middle earth is not that there is no evil, but that there are good beings willing to defend what they love. So many people today are just drones, accepting what they are told, but in middle earth there is no media, no broadcasting, no government. People live their own lives, not the lives they are told to. And there is enough evil in the world to keep people alert and vigilant. Honestly if i could bring Sauron to earth I would. Then people would learnt o get on with each other. Or they'd join him. At least we'd know where we stood.

They are good when convenient, and only support those who support them. They will watch other suffer and indirectly contribute to their suffering if it benefits themsevles. There are actually very few good people in this world, A few more evil people, and a vast majority who just behaive because life is easier that way.

Hearing the Shire’s theme ring out, is a wave of childhood nostalgia, a cool breeze on a warm summers day
    Content, happy, safe
Free of the burdens of the world, if only for a little while
And every moment is cherished, unto the end
May all be merry and joyous,
    Good day

The Lord of the Rings, Middle Earth, the lonley Mountain and all the other great places are my home. Whenever I'm sad or bored or angry this World gives me piece, give's me happines and make me smile. I ... I live there my better live! I see Gandalf's Fireworks and smoke some weed with my Hobbit friends, I visit the elves in the woods, work and learn with the dwalves, help the people in the kingdom of Aragon and memorise the good and bad old times together with the fellowship of the ring.

All of these heart-warming stories, drawn together by such a soulful song. We may live in a harsh world at times, but it is how you perceive and act, that shapes who we are and what we can become. Music will always represent a silent voice, uniting us all. Doesn't matter what language you speak, what race you are, your age, your status...we are all moved by this single melody. It makes me smile to know that i am not alone, not truly, and that we have each other when this song finds our ears and warms our hearts. I don't care how mushy this sounds, it is hard not to speak the shameless truth when this soundtrack plays against my words.

This place is truly symbolic in the movie. A heavenly place that could only be so dearly appreciated by creatures, who loved life's blessings. Beings who were free from the greed and evil of men, dwarfs and orchs. They sought now power or riches, but lived in peace with one another. Truly beautiful.

I cry so much right now😭 this kind of music, story, movie, no! It's not just a movie, for me is more than that. It's a motivation, a life style. It makes me feel...alive. I don't know how to say it more specific so you can understand. I'm thinking about how old are all these actors now. It's been 7 years, we will not see this king of movie anymore, now all they make is for money and teach us no good to our life, and childrens. In this movie are important examples we must follow, like: DON'T YOU EVER GIVE UP! This movie is ... I can't😭 I put all my soul in this movie and every time I see it or I listen to their music is just...speechless. A basm. I love them all, some of them are dead now, rest in peace. And for all that are still alive, know that you made my childhood and also my life, so much better, more beautiful, with more sence. My heart is full of happiness and my mind and soul feels so peaceful when I listen to their songs. Good job everyone!😍👏 I will never forget these movies. Once in a year I will watch it and will be with the same emotions.😭❤️✨ Congratulations to our legend Peter Jackson for making our lives better with these movies and songs.😍 Peace to everyone and God blees you all!🙏✨

If you really like this music I suggest you consider playing the Lord Of The Rings Online game on your computer. I've been playing it for about 7 years now, and it immerses you in Tolkien's world in many ways. It's a complex game, but in this case the complexity means more fun (as is often the case in computer games).

In these troubled days we live in, I wouldn't mind living in the shire, in fact I'd rather enjoy it. Tend to my garden and the simple things. Then after a hard days work, kick my two hairy feet up and relax with an ale in hand with my fellow hobits of the shire. Take stock of the little things, and make merry of what some may consider little importance, but it'd be all the importance we need. Man...they had it figured out. Don't need fancy gadgets and a lot of money. Just a nice clean hole in the ground, and friends (oh, and ale).

Godammit. When this video started I actually began tearing up. Lord of the Rings has always been a special thing for me. I watched the films at a very young age, so I've basically grown up with them, and a bit ago I finally read the books in about 2 months, then subsequently watched the extended editions of the movies all in one day. Whenever I hear this music something clicks in my brain, like a switch being turned off and on. The Lord of the Rings is the best fantasy story ever told, and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

I love imagining myself like such:
Walking in the late of night wondering about life I find myself lost in the woods. Then in the morning I find myself in a most unusually peaceful land, having come through said forest on the never before ventured other end. To gaze upon a collection of small rolling hills with the strangest features; rounded doors and windows, farms far and wide, the green of the grass seeming all the greener and the blue of the sky all the bluer. Yet stranger are the people wandering there. Like a community of children, yet they bear all features of adults. Except the even smaller ones, who barely reach my knees' height, those must certainly be kids. I see them playing about or helping out in the many, many gardens. And such gardens! Why I never saw a perfectly kept garden if ever there was, but these strange half-people must be closest to perfect gardeners!
In silent awe I ventured further, away from the forest into the wide open. It did not take long ere I realized they had seen me, and at first I feared what they might do. I would be scared too if I were them; I tower above their tallest whose shoulders reach my knees. In a way, I now know what it's like to be a giant.
I raise my handpalms to them to show I mean aggression. And by my biggest of surprises yet, they did not seem scared at all. They looked at me as you would look at a fairy tale come to life. Some continued farming or gardening, some sat in their chairs enjoying the blissful sun with what seemed to be long smoking pipes, and some came closer as if to see if I were not a dream or vision or something of that ilk. I walked to what seemed one of their larger buildings, followed by a number of these half-people who barely spoke (if they did, they did so incredibly softly so that I could not hear them).
The signs of this building had a fashion of letters yet unknown to me; they seemed to enjoy decorating the letters with intricate dots and lines. And the sign showed a dragon on a green board. But to my surprise yet again, I found I could read 'The Green Dragon'. The language seemed like mine, I couldn't tell at first because of the decoration on the letters. Realizing this, I took a deep breath and asked what this building was for. The half-people that had been following me had different reactions to me speaking.
"I told ya it could speak, why else would he have a mouth!?"
"I dunno, a mouth can be used for eating, don't mean ya need it for speaking."
"Oh wow, that voice is so deep, I feel the ground shaking beneath my feet!"
"He doesn't sound to aggressive, that's a relief!"
"Should someone shout him a pint - in his case, maybe three? Would be impolite not to!"
And at that, a half-folk who seemed to be the innkeeper came out to see the commotion.
"Ullo here now, what be all the noise and crowd? If any of you think as to get free ale with large crowds, you can wish your hair on your feet!" when the innkeeper came out and saw me, however, he fell silent for a moment. I looked around at the others (more had come to see me), who waited in great anticipation to see my reaction.
"Excuse me, is this 'Green Dragon' an inn? And would you be the innkeeper?" I asked as gently as I could.
"Ah well yes, indeed. And you'd find no finer ale, pint or food in any inn East of Michel Delving, or South of The Hill I says. I sure am its proud innkeeper, a respectable reputation I might add. Tis been part of family business for many generations. Ah but here now, who asks? You sure are a tall one and no bare feet at that! You are no Hobbit, so what might you be?"
    "Hobbit?' I asked.
"Why yes, us Hobbits. This is the Shire, don't ya know? You must be new around these parts."
I looked around and had never before felt more like being stuck in a dream than this. What happened next was too much to describe, but they were respectful and hospitable and in a way very amusing to behold; I realized I would not want to leave any time soon...
