Yay, I'm so glad you're back to ONI! I've missed listening to you play this, I've grounded myself from video games for a little while, but I live vicariously through you, enjoying ONI while I do a bit of Cross Stitching in the evenings.
To answer your question around 5 minutes, basically every food storage trick has been nerfed into the ground. Sterile atmosphere still spoils quite fast if not cold. Food that went into a vacuum when it was warm will spoil. Pretty much the only options that are left are actual cold rooms, cooling food on rails before transferring it to vacuum, powered refrigerators, and just having smaller buffers.
from what i remember from ONI - oxygen floats up and left and co2 floats down a right. thats why all you clean O2 is going top left instead of going through your base. Loving the playthrough though!
Hello man, AWESOME series! Got me immediately hooked up! Despite playing it for a longer period of time, it's actually the first ONI series I watch, because I don't want to get stuff spoiled ahead and invent my new ways to deal with misery instead of copying what others do. But this is so much fun:)
Ok fridges are coming then or I will move it to the ice area.

@@GrindThisGame For the food to be preserved forever, you need to deep freeze in a sterile environment (Vaccum, Choloride, or Hydrogen I think). Fridges only make the food Refrigirated, no Deep-frozen. The food will decay by 5% every cycle when refregirated. Food stored in a non sterine environment will decay by 8% every cycle. Both decay rates are added together. So, as soon as possible, build fridges in Vaccum or Chloride and the food will only decay by 5% per cycle. In the later game, you should be able to Deep-Freeze the food to below -18 degre celcius, but you need access to cooling loop with Petrolium or Crude Oil. I'm really enjoying this playtrhough BTW. :-)
I have such a love/hate relationship with ONI. I love games like this but I always die from overheating to the point I really struggle with finding the motivation to play. Watching your video's let's me enjoy some of it without all the frustration though, so that's for uploading these long streams.
Cool geysers (under 30C), cool biomes help. I have an AETN near a cool steam vent. Otherwise, build insulated tiles around your core base, keep what hot stuff outside that you can, and rush for rockets so you can get materials research to build an aquatuner/steam turbine and cooling loop.
i just always feel overwhelmed after getting my bathroom with water recycling done. like what next? how do i get better power management. series like this helps a lot and i enjoy his relaxing voice.
Hi! I usually disperse sublimation stations all over the place instead of keeping them together, since they over-pressurize easily. P.S. You have no idea, how I missed your easy going (in matters of editing) play throughs. That's my downtime of choice after busy day at work :)
Hey, it will be helpfull to get more batteries, u cant put them in the cold zone to avoir the heat. For the Hatch try to get a room small just for the grooming, and leave the door open so the hatch can go in and out, so they will believe they are in a infini space and make more baby (never crowded). Thx for sharing. Keep it growing!
They made refridgerators usable with the changes, drastically reducing power consumpsion and heat they generate, so putting few in a CO pit seems to be working fine now
My new favorite thing to do is put stations, eating , or recreational places hooked up with lights and motion sensors. Basically anywhere that I dont need lights always on I start to set that up and it really saves me power over long term by only going on when someone is using that area. Until I just tried it for fun I never used motion sensors. Im sure theres a "better" way to save light power but this is at least the most simple way for me ATM. ;)
I'm very new to this game - what was the idea behind that dirty water pump in the previous episode? Pump with tubes going up one level and then to the right and to the left, what do these pipes do?
Any recommendations on how to learn to play this game for total newbies to it? I see GtG has a tutorial series - is that still "current" enough to learn from? I have owned it for years but never launched it, kind of intimidating...
IMHO the game is easy to learn, but hard to master. The very basics can be learned by playing it. Grinds tutorials are good, at least the ones I have seen. I discovered the channel at a point where I didn't need that much tutorials, so I haven't watched that many. There are 2 other channels with some great stuff/tutorials: Francis John and Brothgar. Francis John is a little bit more focused and does a lot of mega projects. I learned a LOT by watching his normal playthroughs. I like Grind this Games way of playing and being all over the place, but that makes it a little harder to learn stuff from that. Between these two channels you should learn a lot. The game has changed a lot with the DLC, but the mechanics are mostly the same, so the tutorials are mostly up to date. There are some exceptions to that like food storage and rocketry. The problem with ONI is that you will not notice most mistakes/problems in time, only when it's to late to do something about it. There are things you will learn the hard way. I started many colonies over the time. Some because of those mistakes and some because I learned something that i wish I had learned earlier. Even after more than 1,500 hours game time I start colonies over because of some stupid stuff I did. Don't be afraid, you will learn. And mastering some stuff will be great, even if it's frustrating from time to time.
I find learning by failing to be good. The Klei forums used to be a good place. And yeah other TH-camrs and guides are out there. The core mechanics are the same but the game is always changing at the margins.
I recently just about over oxygen pressurized (think in the low to mid 3k range) a base simply by collecting a pool of polluted water and placing a bank of deodorizers over the top. It's seeming to be so effective that I have delayed building my SPOM. Looks like with the sheer amount of polluted water you have here that oxygen production should be a concern for many many cycles to come.
Vertical ranching is way more efficient. It’s also the best option for ranching dreckos. Plug Slugs are pretty lame. Hatches ftw! Infinite pacu farming once you unlock shipping ect. All that polluted dirt = mass poke shell farming. Probably way too late….
@@GrindThisGame cool thanks for the reply I have started many many maps and always get to the point where i feel like i want to tear the whole map apart and redo everything so i restart instead so i never got to space before spaced out and now its like the whole game is space 🤣 so trying to be more creative.. haha i will have to try pumping it to space i think thats cheaper than running a skimmer and less heat!!!
dude, you REALLY need to get schedules going. 2 downtime, 2 sleep, 1 bathroom, overlap the next schedule by 2, that'll give you about 10 schedule placements meaning you won't have that many bathroom problems, which you're going to explode with tomorrow
Also, food storage doesn't work with just CO2 anymore, you need to get fridges in CO2 ASAP, and even then you're talking temporary solution. You need to figure out a deep freezer
@@GrindThisGame lol. Ok. Love the series. Trying to figure out mechanics. I remember seeing darkness being one of the items needed to grow. If that is case I am pretty sure it not dark. So yea.

Something to know about food. You need both cold and sterile atmosphere to keep food from spoiling.

You can dig up oxylite without any loss of oxygen. It loses half it's mass, but only releases 50% of it as oxygen. In the end you get the same amount.
