Good video Charlie 👍 you’ll be pleased to know that the audio is actually very good. All you’ve done is miss a mic. The double slot on the side has a mic in there. Once that’s covered, your all good👍
Short but sweet Andy, they’re getting better and better with every new model, it just makes you wonder how they can improve on the 9, I’m glad GoPro have brought the 9 out now, it’s my 55th birthday in November and after the crash I had with the resulting broken thumb I could do with a pick me up with my anxiety and depression issues, just hoping I can afford it 🤞
Trail-Finder it does me too mate but I’m a bit strapped for cash at the moment, not least of all the £1200 garage bill I’ve just paid 😁, I’ll just have to see how things turn out, my birthday is a little way off yet, my family are usually pretty generous with the birthday money 😉
You can’t take it with you mate. Spend it while I’m young 😂. My 820 finally gave up. Battery life was getting bad. New one is worlds apart. And a nice big screen to glance at
I meant to ask you about your camera setup, if I’m being cheeky asking Andy please tell me but would you have any objections telling us what settings you have your camera on please, maybe it could be a future video idea mate 👍
All pretty standard really. But I guess the important things to know is I record in 4K 24 and I adjust the iso to match the days conditions. -0.5 for overcast or in the woods -1 for sunny days. Everything else just standard settings
Stabilisation is better. So is the audio now I’ve got it sorted. (I missed a hidden mic) but it’s not a huge leap. I only upgraded from the 8 because the new max lens mod looks amazing.
I will have to look at coming up to Hamsterley it looks great fun don’t know what year that will be😢 don’t forget on the side of the new go pro there is a water vent for the microphones you may have to put a bit of Sellotape over that and see if it stops the wind coming in that slot let me know if it works might be getting one for Christmas again don’t know what year that will be.😢😬
Hi rich. Yes your right. I missed a mic under that flap. It’s got a wind cover on it now. Not tested it yet though. I’ll show you around hamsterley when you come up
Really fancy upgrading my Hero 7 to one of these. Stabilisation looks fantastic! But, have heard problems with audio, like crackling in one audio channel 🤷♂️
@@TrailFinderI'll be investing in a 9 in the near future. I gave up on those little wind mufflers when I kept losing them as they kept sticking to other things 😂 got a foam housing for my 7 instead
How does the GP9 perform in low light? I don't mean in night time, but in the woods during daytime. I have the OSMO Action and when RockSteady is turned on, it absolutely fails even on a forest walk, there is so much shaking in the image. So I am thinking about getting the GP9 if it performs better in the circumstance I just described.
I’ll get back to you on this as I rode in very dark woods the other day and have not looked at the footage yet. Although I have changed my settings recently. Ive set white balance to 5500 and not on auto. Seems to work better in low light
@@TrailFinder probably not. Id say smoother footage is probably better over a higher res, Sold my hero 7 black yesterday as my hero 9 is due to be delivered today so looking forward to having a play with it myself 😊
@@TrailFinder keep up the videos pal highlight of the day when i have a new one to watch. Keep meaning to go do your Ribblehead route and the wetherby one as thats a local one to me
The wind noise is noticeably worse on the 9; there's not another microphone tucked away somewhere is there? I can imagine that it would be a real pain if going out on to the exposed hillsides where the wind is a constant. The stabilisation does look better though, it's almost at the level of a gimbal!
Footage is amazing. It’s lost all the jerkyness that the 6/7/8 had. Mctrail Rider has pointed out that I’ve missed a mic. So you was right mate. Once that is covered it should be amazing.
It was just on hyper smooth 3. No boost. It crops in to much. If you watch my castle Bolton vid. I used boost on that. The new max lens for hero 9 will be amazing. You can have the camera on boost. But with very little crop in
Not sure on this camera. As I’ve only used it so far on this set up ride. Riding all weekend so will have a good idea. Will try and remember that you asked. And get back to you
I've had a GP8 for 4 months. I'd love one of these, however.. is it worth the investment? Are the improvements that significant?.. or perhaps wait for next years 10?
If you sold your 8 right now it would almost pay for the 9. They hold there price well if you sell them when the new cameras come out. I got £230 for my hero 7 when I sold it when the 8 came out.
Good video Charlie 👍 you’ll be pleased to know that the audio is actually very good.

Thanks for the tip mate. 🙌 Been a little disappointed because as you well know. Audio is king. Can’t believe I missed that!
Trail-Finder to be fair, it really doesn’t look like a mic.
are you talking about the Drain Microphone thats below the power button?
robert le yes
Thanks for that tip been frustrated doing the dead cat covers and still getting alot of windnoise!
That's how it was yesterday :)
Anytime John
Great vid and yet another trail added to my list of must rides :-)
Another brilliant video
Thank you 👍
looks great, very stable

Buy your self it mate. Always makes me feel better getting something new.

Never mind the camera, what great trails! I was knackered just watching!!
Hamsterley is great fun. Highly recommended 👍
Game changer .. need to get one 👍
It’s a great camera. The max lens mod looks amazing.
Looks very stable and great audio.
Footage looks good Mate. New GoPro and a new Garmin 👌
You can’t take it with you mate. Spend it while I’m young 😂. My 820 finally gave up. Battery life was getting bad. New one is worlds apart. And a nice big screen to glance at
Looks really good.
Looking good mate I really need to upgrade to a 9 my 5 is looking dated now! Thanks for the video!
Now I’ve sorted the audio is a great camera. It’s not that much of a difference to the 8. I only got it as the new max lens mod looks very exciting
Another good one 👍audio really aint that bad at all but i think it also gives a bit of feel when you are filming which adds to the vifeo.
Audio is now perfect. I had missed a microphone which is hidden on the side. It now has a wind cover on. 👍
@@TrailFinder nice one look forward to your next adventure 👍
Nice vid, going here on Sunday... can the Garmin record the jump distance quietly? cos that would annoy the living f' outta me...
It annoyed the crap out of me to mate. The feature is now switched off 😂
Great video as ever 👍 👏 sir ..
Thank you very much 🤛

Trail-Finder cheers Andy, appreciate you sharing the settings with us, gonna get my GoPro 9 black in a month or so from GoPro
I got mine from go pro. I’m a go pro plus subscriber. So every thing is 30% off
Trail-Finder I think I’m gonna do the same Andy, oh and thanks for the camera settings mate 👍
Thanks for video. Is it really better than the hero 7? Hmm.. And can you use external battery like on the 7?

When they release the lens mod this camera should be epic as the horizon lock will be great on trails etc
It looks good. Only works in a low res though. But do you really need 4K for you tube?

edit- just read mc trail riders comment, thanks
Hi mate, just wondering what settings you shot in? Did you have boost on 4K? 👍🏻
It was just on hyper smooth 3. No boost. It crops in to much. If you watch my castle Bolton vid. I used boost on that. The new max lens for hero 9 will be amazing. You can have the camera on boost. But with very little crop in
Trail-Finder I’ve ordered the 9 thought it might be here today, doing your ribble head route tomorrow 😁
Enjoy. It’s a beauty
I'd still watch if you filmed it on a cine camera. 👍
😂😂. Cheers nick
How much 4k can you get from one battery?

Hyper smooth is a little better. What excites me the new lens mod. Going to get some great shots with that.

got my 9 today, waiting for the max lens mod to get more fov and horizon levelling!
I can’t wait for that to come out
Maz lens mod what's that?
Try covering the drain mic
You sort your settings out whilst the rest of us just sit back and enjoy your videos.
😂😂 think I’m sorted now mate
Some belter trails them
So worth the upgrade or wait till my 8 is buggered
The 8 is a great camera. I only wanted the 9 cos of the stuff you can get for it. Like the max lens mod
@@TrailFinder just realised mines a 7 😂
You know that jerkyness you get with the stabilisation on the 7. It’s gone with the 9.
Video looks much more stable
Sure is. That jerkyness has now gone.
Looks the same as my 7.
7 / 8 / 9 all good cameras. Only slight differences between them really.
iPhone 11 looks more clear than the go pro
All cameras look nice and clear when they are not moving and stood still
Trail-Finder yeah your right there
Trail-Finder always a joy to watch been looking at going Peak District as it’s fairly close to me
But you are right. iPhone camera is pretty dam good. I use it for some of my riding past shots 👍
Get your self there Danny. It’s a great riding location
