When you let any of the God's reside inside of you, you have to assume that you will not be able to contain or control the overwhelming feelings and urges. Whatever they may be. There's so many times I have saw Einar go into, what I call, another realm. You can see him look surprised and a little confused about where he is. Especially in the video with him and the full orchestra, beautiful woman playing the Chelleo (I think that's what it is) but watch his face at the end. He is literally bringing himself back to this reality. He's just amazing.

Interesting that he's using the same harp as a 7th century Saxon bard - it's the type found in the Sutton Hoo ship. Benjamin Bagby uses one when doing Beowulf in old Saxon.

When the Danes landed in England in the 8th-10th centuries, the languages were still mutually intelligible. I recommend checking out Benjamin Bagby. Listening to him do Beowulf is a trip.

Einar Selvik's vocals here = absolutely mesmerizing, spellbinding. Like being hypnotized and propelled back to ancient times of forgotten wisdom and rudimentary, synchronized connection to nature. Hats off! Not to take anything from the rest of the performers, but his voice and the way he uses it adds that unique cherry on top, for a truly remarkable experience to behold. Wish I had been there.
The part in Einars verse when everyone started to sync in at around 3:23 actually brought me to tears. It sounds so beautiful and emotional, words can't describe its beauty.

I speak a fair amount of German, and I'm currently learning Norwegian. This song is absolutely beautiful, and I'm glad I finally found a song which has both languages! I will try to find more.
Old Norse and Icelandic is pretty much the same language when it is written. The pronunciation of certain letters or groups of letters differs though. Einar chose the modern Icelandic pronunciation for some strange reason.

I feel as though I am sauntering through the mountains and being called home when I listen to this. Faun and Wardruna are two of my favorite groups for modern takes on my ancestral music. Einar, you convey emotion in your vocals so well, brother.
I still remember asking my Baptist Sunday school teacher, when I was a small child, why "god" only has one eye. It wasn't until much later in my life that I was open enough to get to know Odin. He's not just my god, he's my father...And I love him.

Old Norse and Icelandic is pretty much the same language when it is written. The pronunciation of certain letters or groups of letters differs though. Einar chose the modern Icelandic pronunciation for some strange reason.

Something that feeds the life and feeds the death. Someting amazing and pure that makes me want to keep existing with my beloved ones and listening to this amazing music.
This speaks to your primal self. It whispers to the DNA inside of you that remembers the hunt. It screams to the part you that didn't see death as the end but rather, a new path separate from the one you walked in life. A time when we feared yet exalted the many gods we conjured to explain the world around us before science showed us otherwise. A time when every nerve ending was in tune with the world. This is what you feel.
This inner primal feel is that primordial vibration that keeps one alive, the OM. The past masters have always referred to it as the Word or the Name of God, and I don't mean the Bible. In fact John begins his gospel with a statement borrowed from Vedic scripture in India from hundreds of years earlier: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Going inside to experience that Word is THE way to find peace for one's own self.

As far as I know I have no Norse ancestry, but this kind of music calls deep to my soul.
Einar Selvik is an true bard an poet too sing in these old norse language and with these people that are playing this music it is an great masterpiece and it makes me cry of joy too see people like these may the music unite us all and germanic people find our own roots back too the Odinism/Pagan belief that we hold sacred back in history and that we may become stronger and better.
How a culture so rich and divine is widely preached as the one of barbarians? This level of spiritual enlightenment is rare. In today’s world, Scandinavian countries are benchmark for promoting gender equality, climate-change awareness and everything good that is happening in this world. I feel blessed to see this side of Scandinavian brothers and sisters. May HE gives you courage and wisdom to pass this to your upcoming generations.

I've listened to this a thousand times, I swear, and I love it every time. I always love hearing when Einar's part comes in because it sounds like its echoing from time itself for half a second. Faun and Einar I feel should do an entire album together, but thats my opinion. Either way, love Faun and Einar, Blessed be to them and all who listen to this amazing music!
Every time I see this live I thing the same thing: One thing is recording a song and putting into an album, another is playing it live. Here you can see why it's worth a million to see Faun and Einar live: Their music comes out of their insides, the emotions, everything makes this moment absolutely breathtaking and perfect.

I feel as though I am sauntering through the mountains and being called home when I listen to this. Faun and Wardruna are two of my favorite groups for modern takes on my ancestral music. Einar, you convey emotion in your vocals so well, brother.

i can just give you the recommendation to watch stuff in german as well. it helped me a lot to learn english cause you can leyrn vocabulary out of the context. and we germans have good synchros watch your favourite movies again.
German is a very hard Language dude, learning it by this Kind of Music makes it way more difficult. A Lot of Germans dont even get this Text. So Good Luck :)
