A recent 67 rescue and then a 64 plus a beautiful 5 year old rescue that lives to ride. It is all starting to sound a little familiar. Great video Jason and I love a great VW story that includes arrest. BIG THUMBS UP and I am excited to meet the new member of your family
Nice 64. Finally a car with no dash rust lol. I'm still amazed in how complete you can find these cars. Here in Mexico people would just start yanking parts off of them and when you find them in this state, it's pretty much the raw shell
Great job buddy trailer comes through again love that you adopted a dog looks absolutely adorable sitting on the driver's seat. I think the old owner never took one breath telling his story
hi jason thats a lovely 64 beetle looks very original lovely dash nice find best of luck with the restoration i have a 1966 beetle with factory steel sunroof in ruby red
Congrats on the addition to the family, what a beautiful dog. She seems enamored with you ! And Chrissy has good taste in this 1964 Volkswagen Beetle. She understands the VALUE of being rescued !!! Remains of Volkswagens scattered through out the land ... Some are truley "Rusting in peace, or as the case may be - pieces ... The red/orange passenger bay window van taillights are on upside down. Amber signal should be on top. Relics of the VW past being saved by Jason to perhaps live again ... Slainte' ! Cheers !
"Your trim piece fell off". ..."I don't know how that happened" LMAO! Love his stories. I love how every vehicle or miscellaneous part he knows exactly where it came from and of course the story behind it. Old New England Yankees like him are priceless.
What a cool gent - he knows what he's got & how it got there. I'd take "Daisy", one of those Ford vans (I had a 1970 D300 way back when), & that Jeep. You meet the most interesting people when you own a vintage VW.
That one looks like it has some potential. And no dash rust!!! And a key too. Life is good. We had a local guy with a stash like that who hoarded everything for years. Turns out he was a fascinating character and knew the story of each and every VW in the yard. I was able to even get a couple of '59 Beetles from him for $300 with lots of good parts. Sadly he moved, and the stash was mostly scrapped by those that did not realize what he had. Save them all while you can!!!
Another good find and another one saved from the scrapheap, both me and she who controls the purse had beetles when we were younger and loved 'em, how I wish I'd got the space you have, it'd be a good project in retirement atb from England
Another good one Jason. The Gentleman talking had plenty of story's. Downtown earth guy!! I think you did great on this ol girl Jason.... 🎬 packed on will it start?? Yes.. You come up with thegood one's my friend!
I remember ct inspections. It was brutal back in the 80s. They made you jump through hoops if your car was over 10 years old. Great video. That dog is adorable.
they sure did , I took a 78 Cutlass through and the inspector told me to park it " it was unfit for the road " ....I just drove off and had an easy on the eyes female take it through a different station ....passed her lol. Thank you Russ
Really nice video and Don’s stories were gold. The 64 is nice, great job in rescuing the car and the puppy. Our dog was a rescue and she’s so loving...
Dear 5150mxVV 👍👌👏 Simply fantastic! Maaaan, what a great VW rescue video. Additionally with an awesome good storyteller who reminds every detail! At last you found even 2 bugs with dashboards in great shape. Congrats! I'm eagerly waiting to see how the condition of the beige car is. And of course to hear the good looking engine runnin'. I hope that you will rescue all least the blue bug and maybe even the 2l bus too. With that engine it can be a good daily driver for someone. Maybe somebody even likes the Hippie style paint job. 2) Meanwhile I definitely understand the benefits of your very short, one axle hauling trailer. It's much more maneuverable and high enough for not getting stuck in rough terrain. 3) Now I know that you are 8 years younger than I am. Additionally I now know your month of birth. By the way: In November my very best friend (since way over 40 years) has his birthday also. This year it was even a Friday the 13th! :-) As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you (including the new- used ;-) cool puppy of course). Postscriptum: I pray that the steak dinner for Jen has done the trick so that you are allowed to have even more Volkswagen fence length. ;-) P.P.S. Sir, I definitely miss your appreciated answers very much. What have I done/wrote/said wrong? Will you please be so kind and tell me? Thanks in advance.
awesome story. my dad same thing. still today his driving that beetle. he has a different engine numbers everything mixed. but in south Africa you pay people for papers. no problems
I'm lining the fair lanes, Cherokee, keeps her, and I noticed some sunfish stacked up on end. Lots of great stuff over there. The guy has some great stories.
Just found your channel a couple days ago, funny hearing stories about these old cars. Virginia can be a pain for inspections, fortunately in southwest VA they don't do emissions or a lot of the crazy nonsense they do around DC and Richmond. My Dad's 86 Olds Custom Cruiser failed inspection cause the guy said the steering column had too much play in it, so we swapped in a column from a Caprice wagon, and the idiot tried to fail us cause the shift linkage was a little loose in the Chevy column. Hell, I had one fail my 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 cause he couldn't find DOT marks on one of the sealed beam headlights, not like I was running shitty ebay LEDs or something, it was just some old bargain bulb. Petty bullshit is all it is, the guy I go to now for inspections checks em like they're supposed too, brakes, tires, suspension, lights, safety shit.
Wow, the column in my 86 Olds you can move up and down like 2 - 3 " !!! It has under a 100k miles too ? Yes , there were some real ball busters back then ...I had a 78 Olds that the inspector said" park it out front , it's unfit for the road " ....I left and had my cousin take it to another inspection station ....she passed haha. Omg , dot headlights ? THAT is crazy ! great story , thanks DR
@@5150mxVW Yeah, they're enforcing DOT headlights since about 2015 in VA 'cause of all those obnoxious LED illegal Chinese headlights that do nothing but blind other drivers. The laws here are stupid, but I agree with that one, bad enough when an Acura blinds me legally!
How is it that all these fantastic honey holes of old cars are out East, where the weather slowly eating them all away. Save as many as you can and get them past on.

Loved this episode, that old chap was a lovelly guy. I'm amazed you're still finding these cars and buses, heres my question. Not including running cars how many of these barn/woods finds do you think there still are out there?
Amazing finds you have back in your area still. Here on the west coast very few old forgotten finds like this anymore or what I have heard about it seen. There was one lately though up north of Seattle where the was a horde of old Covairs. Guy was clear if you were interested you had to take them all. I think he planned on clearing the land. Years ago up there was an old barn with probably 50 Cadillacs inside and out. It all went and it's a housing development now. Allot of folks now who want to find an old solid vintage vehicle go east where the climate is drier. Less rust and trees growing through them. Haha. If I can find it a friend has a old vehical by their barn up north that has been parked there since the 40's. I entered the picture in the local paper and was put on the front page. Pretty cool
There must be something contagious about VWs because when I was growing up our next door neighbor had 10 acres worth of old Volkswagens of various models but mostly bugs. One neighbor drove a newer Bettle convertible for what seemed like forever until one day he finally bought what I assume was his dream car a Porsche Boxster convertible. I guess he'd been saving his money driving the old Beetle all those years so he could buy his Porsche. There's probably a lesson in that story somewhere. Myself, I've owned three, a 65 Beetle, a 71 Beetle and a 75 Scirocco. If I get another one it'll be an early 70s well maintained stock one. I'm older and wiser now so I won't try to motocross it and race it and tear it all up.
I love the video keep saving the VW..I will keep watching for the next ones.. I own 1974 bug. And work at a VW Air cooled shop so can get parts original for most of all VW Air cooled vw. Let me know if need stuff.
Could have had an hour long video just on that guys stories. When the world slows down and you listen you can hear some pretty cool stuff.
