🤔 I’m willing to test out The Rear View to see how effective it is. You know, for science.
Yes, for science 😉

In terms of looking powerful, the Samoan Spike did do its part for Umaga's character. A simplistic move that almost looks primal fits his character well. As for it being painful have you ever tried getting Samoan Spiked? One of my classmates got hit by that move when we were playing around back in 5th or 6th grade and the move actually hurt him. Not gonna knock him out of course but I remember his face was red for a long time and he said its like there's something painfully stuck on his throat even a few hours after he got hit by it.
I mean I just did it to myself and it hurt a bit and I barely put any power behind it so I believe it
So they put the peoples elbow but not hogans leg drop 🥴
Low-hanging fruit, I guess. Everybody and their brother have ripped on that move at this point. It's basically become the poster child of underwhelming finishers.
People's Elbow was mostly a signature move than a Finisher. It was usually only a finisher after used on a weak opponent or to top off after a Rock Bottom. By itself though, it wasn't often a finisher.
I'd still take the leg drop over the stunner. Weakest finisher ever to me.
@@robertcoggeshall3071 you think stunner is weak?
@@ajjohnson3416 hated it as a finisher. OK as a surprise move.

Depending on WHERE on the neck you make contact, the Cobra could be considered an effective move. Make contact with the esophagus or carotid artery and you might be able to stun the opponent long enough to get the pinfall.
If it's done to the trachea it will quickly swell up until you can't breathe. Santino's cobra could legitimately kill some if done for real.
You can't make contact with the esophagus doing the cobra
@@AK-rx6hv you can't maybe , but Santino sure can!
"Ahhh the venom!"
the same goes with the samoan spike. I find it a violent move, ergo exciting.
Nah i gotta heavily disagree with Umaga, getting that taped thumb even to the chest would hurt like hell and it also fit Umagas character.. the problem was that some just didnt sell it well enough, it looked devastating on guys like Jeff
The Samoan spike looked deadly when I was a kid, you’re crazy.
Facts it wasn’t that bad and it looked like he made it work
I mean a fast thumb to the throat would kinda hurt ngl

I've taken a few belly to belly suplexes when I was training and the hurt. They aren't flashy but landing on your back with someone on-top of you hurts and this is coming from someone who broke his ankle, wrist, and neck in the same house show ( due to botched moves I received ) but still finishing the match
What's your least favorite move to get hit by?
@@twinzzlers botched would be basically the f5 this was my first severe concussion, broken neck, and fractured skull. If done properly the spear your guts literally feel like they're going to fall out after taking a spear botched or not
@@Hunglikeagrimsmo Alright, what's your favorite move? If you had the option would you wrestle for AEW or WWE?
@@twinzzlers neither. Way too many internal issues for me to deal with. and favorite move probably straight up big boot to the face. Doesn't matter how big you are it always looks like it hurts
I've never done any professional wrestling, but I did more than a decade of collegiate/freestyle/greco-roman wrestling. Belly to belly suplexes for realsies hurt, like a lot. And Bailey goes for 5 points every single time. I get that her opponent is going up for her, and helping her while she is protecting her opponent, the reverse of what is going on in C/F/G, but I see her go for those off of the ropes or tables or whatever and the wrestler inside me cringes with pain, every time.
As a man who has “allegedly” belly to bellied a guy on the sidewalk, I assure you that move is destructive.
Yeah i think the Bayley To Belly probably doesn't deserve to be on this list. The logic of it in kayfabe is also that not only is she slamming them on to the mat, but she's crashing her bodyweight down on top of them as well. You look at the Steiner Brothers back in the day and they would do a similar belly to belly variation that always looked very impactful.
@@JackgarPrime I think it's because she can't make it look good like Brock or Kurt

The Bailey-To-Belly variation of the Belly-To-Belly Suplex was initially introduced and popularized in the 1980s by Magnum TA and later used as a finisher by Shane Douglas in the early part of his career. Depending upon how much force you can put behind it, it can be pretty effective.
Iron Sheik used a belly to belly suplex
Right? Ive literally used the Bayley to belly in an actual fight and it knocks the wind out of your opponent. More than enough for a 3 count pin, so I'd count it as a legit finisher.

There are legitimate moves out there that genuinely do not look like they hurt, but a DDT is not one of them, like at all. What are you smoking for you to think a DDT wouldn't hurt? It's literally them getting their heads smashed into the ground.
In defense of baileys finisher, its not just hugging and falling on top of them. In that hold you literally grab and squeeze and opponent , driving them to the ground . You’re getting squashed by someone hanging on to you. And depending on whose applying the move, the severity of the impact varies.
Ok, Santino's move is very affective in what it does, and that is to entertain. It also really fit his character. As a kid, I remember people loving him, I did as well. He was a riot to watch.

the hogan leg drop should be on the list too, it's just a typical leg drop lol
Umaga’s spike PERFECTLY FIT his character. especially in 07 and 08, BUT it only LOOKED devastating when it was sold well, EX: when Jeff hardy got hit by it.
I agree. It wasn’t a bad move. I feel like it complimented his character as this absolute brute force that could put you down with just his thumb.
Selling was probably the most important part to it.
It was the Karate thumb, which is illegal (whatever that means) in wrestling. The fact he used it openly without getting disqualified, I think is what made it unbelievable.
The logic of the move hurting is actually sound. If someone stabbed you in the throat with their thumb, you'd be down for a lot more than 3 seconds. I remember Meng used a similar move for a while, too, before switching to the Tongan Death Grip.
@@JackgarPrime exactly bro… Umaga’s finishers is probably one of the only few finishers that would actually be fatal if WWE was real.
Exactly. That's why his nephew Solo uses it now. It seems exactly like a move that a savage would use.

The spike and cobra are actually pretty good and could even be lethal of done right. Going for pressure points would surely incapacitate one long enough for the 3 count.
So nobody gonna talk about The Rock kicking the Undertaker back down and finishing the people’s elbow 😂😂
Best bit!
I never did like the people's elbow who's going to lay still for 15 seconds and just wait to get elbowed it's basically just like the worm those both moves suck 👎🤷♂️

If you’ve ever been punched in the throat, you can vouch for Umaga’s finisher. It hurts to get punched in the throat.
Jamming a heavily taped thumb in a windpipe could potentially break it, causing internal bleeding and making the victim choke on their own blood. I've seen dudes break coconuts with their thumbs so...
Santinos finisher look worse saying he uses 4 fingers instead of a just a thumb
@@rodneyjennings2484 pressure doesn't work like that. The smaller the contact area, the higher the pressure applied. Umaga was much bigger than santino, so we can assume a lot more force was put into the move.

The Samoan drop which Umaga used to do was great to watch and looked impactful.
They're not really finishers anymore, just signatures.
Also, The Cobra and Samoan Spike would hurt. It's a jab to the neck, it would hurt like hell.

Kazani's finisher, reminds me of Drew McIntyre's "Future Shock DDT". I'm not saying he drew inspiration from it, but it just looks similar.
I agree Drew McIntyre Future shock DDT looks more convincing than Kazani finisher.
The people's elbow is iconic more because of the whole theatrics to and the gimmick than the actual elbow drop. When the rock slammed someone in the middle of the ring and looked up, you just knew it was coming and he was about to win so it made the build up hype asf.
Fun fact: people who got hit with the brain chop by Great Khali said that it really hurt because of the force that he swung his arm with
The fact that he was able to pick MARK FUCKING HENRY up on his shoulders and slam him to the ground is impressive by itself

The Cobra is the most electrifying move in sports entertainment.
The rear view I think is a great signature move to set up some sort of end sequence. In tongue in cheek but athletic a bit at least and unique
If you think the Samoan Spike wouldn’t be bad, you’ve never been hit hard enough in the windpipe.
Lmfao 😂

LMFAO, I was dead too
i would argue that the samoan spike fit umaga's character perfectly, and could be potentially devastating being on the receiving end of one
The Samoan Spike have the potential to be deadly - you tape your thumb to make it hard as a pointed stone and jamm it into the opponent's throat with a hammering fast punch - that can smash his/her trachea.
Problem is: you would expect a more impressive looking finisher from a big guy known as " The Samoan Bulldozer"...
The Samoan Spike I think that move could actually hurt someone since you're aiming for their throat with a lot of force.
Or the eye.
True
It Could Kill Someone If Hit Correctly,Since The Thumb Will The Pressure The Throat So Badly,The Person Taking The Move Wouldn't Be Able To Breath

The cobra and somoan spike are essentially moves that appear to hit a pressure point (carotid artery) to knockout the opponent. The bullhammer looks like it would legitimately give someone a concussion
I think the wasteland slam was far more impactful. I know it may not have "looked" it, but having done judo, I know that getting slammed like that would legit take it out of you. It's almost a samoan drop. Something that could have been a finisher but has become a throwaway move like the DDT

So some background on the Samoan Spike stems from the thumb being broken over and over and set in a permanent position to calcify as a weapon. It could be used as a weapon to jab in guys eye sockets and throats and since it couldnt bend it could crush their wind pipes or gouge out eyes. I think the somoan spike is a good finisher honestly. But i think it depends on how well its sold. Tbf, I think the Cobra and 6th move of doom were clearly comedic (and worked when sold well like JTG being an absolute class act on that clip). Being a kid in 2006, I remember Umaga’s finisher seeming absolutely devastating, again especially when sold well (like the Jeff Hardy clip).

IDK.. I use to do it to my brother when we were kids.. LOL
The only thing it ever hurt over the years was Hogan’s own spine. It actually caused him to shorten his height because of the spinal compression. He said in an interview recently that a guy boasting arms the size of his should’ve been using a sleeper hold. It would’ve made more sense gimmick wise. Now he’s hobbling around on two rebuilt knees and rebuilt hips because of that leg drop. And after hearing him say that I can’t disagree. It would’ve given him the option of incorporating submission matches here and there. He was already burying almost everyone he faced anyway, at least he could’ve helped put a few over like when Bret hart made austin pass out instead of tapping out at mania 13. Austin was turned into a legend because he fought and scratched until he passed out because his body literally gave up on him without him having to decide to tap, or at least that was the storyline we were given, but damn if it didn’t work. Piper would’ve been an awesome guy to use in that kind of scenario!

Any strike preformed while in the air is far less powerful than one when he striker is on the ground.
Umagas true finisher was that damn shoulder nerve pinch thing. i felt like i could feel it through the TV
I KNEW that the Bayley-to-belly was gonna make it in that list 😂
The only finisher I've used on a fly successfully is an 'OPEN PALM SLAP'.
Don't know if it counts as a finisher but I have a really high win/loss record with it.
For me it’s got a 100% success rate
Will Smith fan?
@@bucketsofglory KEEP YOUR FLIES OUT MY F***ING HOUSE!!!!
That superkick from Shawn looks and SOUNDS very painful. Bayley needs to put a release into the belly to belly
it sounds painful cuz he slaps his leg like everybody does 🤣
I mean the belly to belly isn't even a finisher big E does it all the time but never uses it as a finisher
The super kick might actually be able to hurt someone but it’s lazy. Like Micheal’s couldn’t come up with anything else. But then again I was never a fan of pretty boy Micheals.
@@alienlife7754 i'm not a fan of michaels, but i will give him the ONLY credible super kick. when he used it, people went down. there was no such thing as a "Super kick party" in those days because he only needed one. he also did a running start a lot of times, so that helps sell it as devastating.
generally, strikes are bad for finishers, though. you just spend the whole match striking that person. what makes the finisher special?
@E3W what makes all those kicks different than all the other kicks in a match, though? that's why they are bad finishers. sure, they would hurt in real life, but a punch to the face in real life is enough end most fights.
man the cobra actually hurts my brother who is karate martial artist ,he hit me with move and that place where it me it swoll up for 4 days
The Bayley-To-Belly is a traditional Belly-To-Belly suplex, where they pivot and slam them to the ground rather than the likes of Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar, who use a variation called the Overhead Belly-to-Belly Suplex which lacks the pivot and releases the opponent.
