This is a wonderful trip down memory Lane as Sutton was our holiday destination throughout childhood. It’s a special place and still seems to have retained its non-commercialised feel unlike nearby resorts. Thank you!
Sutton on Sea has lovely memories for me, we would stay there for a week in May and September, Mum, Dad, Nan and my sister all sadly no longer with us, miss those happy days.
Thanks for taking the time to give us a lovely reminder of how beautiful Sutton on Sea is, we have not been for a few years now but that will be shortly remedied. A peaceful and calm place with tranquil sound of the sea.
Wow! Another trip down memory Lane, way before my parents retired to Mablethorpe in the 70s. We used to stay at Sutton in a beautiful bungalow, on the road opposite the Bacchus Hotel, I was very young when we first started going there, my parents would loved to have bought the bungalow but it never came up for sale, they loved the peace and tranquility of Sutton! and my favourite place was the paddling pool! We had a very scary encounter when the sea came over the promenade and demolished the pub that used to be a feature at the top! we were actually in the local cinema when the warning to evacuate came, it was a scramble to get our things into the car I remember, and very worrying driving in sea water, for several mile inland, I believe the local donkey man had to rescue them by diving down to feel for the cats eyes along the roads! when the full force of the sea came over! I guess I would be about ten at that time, we kept returning year after year when it was safe to do so, I even had my first crush on a local boy, those were the days, and we walked to Mablethorpe and back many times along the beach! I can feel the invigorating sea air, and the freezing East coast sea as we ran in and out of the surf to this day, it was blissful, thank you for a wonderful tour and rekindling my childhood memories 👌😍🤗
My granny lived on Church Lane and I spent every summer holiday, Christmas and many other times there. I vaguely remember one winter when there was a flood warning. My Uncle or someone had to go and knock on people's doors to warn them. I am not sure if the sea came over the promenade or not. My brother, cousins and I have so many happy memories from there. The little cars you could drive, the trampolines and crazy golf. The sweet shop on the high St and the toy shop. The ice creams from the cafe above the bowls greenand of course the paddling pool. But most of all the beach we spent hours walking and playing on, rain or shine. I live in Australia now and our beaches are amazing but my most favourite one is Sutton-On-Sea!
@@nicolebreeze316 Wonderful memories Nicole, of a wonderful community, eighty years have gone by since I was first taken there with my mum & dad, I’ve been trying to remember the name of the beautiful bungalow but all my family and sisters have passed on so no one to ask, it was something like ‘Solgam’ but no idea how to spell it! 😊
Beautiful, I have family here. Coming in Autumn to see them all being well. Just want to walk and meditate on that beach with my woolies on and a bracing breeze. Thank you for making this. 💜🙏🏽💜
love it,we go to S O S as we say about once a month so its nice to see you add it to your walks,we park behind the kids paddling pool for the toilets opposite the car park and we leisurely walk along the front to mablethorpe and have lunch sat at the sqaure where the bikers park then walk back around 2.5 hours altogether and our bulldog cissie loves it.
Have many sentimental memories of S on S, I can remember the Beach Hotel, also used to be alot more chalets heading south from the kiddies pool. A positive is there is alot more sand on the beach, almost sand dunes forming. Either way you picked a beautiful day and the village looks pleasant and inviting
Well thanks for that video, I've haven't seen sutton beach front since the modernisation, and I only live in mablethorpe, the price of being an entertainer, once again thank you
@@GimbalWalkTV yes thanks I have to be well because doctors up here are like gold dust, just done 15 months as a volunteer NHS responder and now it's back to singing. First gig tomorrow at the local conservative club, I'm going on a bit now, happy gimbaling if there's such a word
@@waltdisnenycopyright8048 Oh that sounds exciting - will be a great thing to get back in front of people again i bet! Good luck with it all - go get em!
We had a chalet there in the 70s/80s but it is no longer there. Lots of fun memories of Sutton holidays. Yes it is quiet, but still lots of families there and family fun to be had, and does get busy in the summer. Two things I miss, the old beach before they changed it by dredging up lots of sand. The council chalets you could hire out which they recently demolished. Can recommend the two fish and chips shops in town. The Bacchus, big friendly bar/hotel. The Beach bar serves some delicious snacks and coffee. The caravan sites going up towards Trusthorpe are great places to stay and you can pick and choose between Mablethorpe or Sutton to spend the day. We always went for Sutton.
Pearl blakeley I really loved the video Sutton on sea is lovely and quiet my kind of holiday I don't like a lot of noise How are you keeping well I hope I'm safe and well Stay safe God bless 🍦🍺👍🙏🤗🍺
Thank you Pearl! I'm great thank you - busy editing videos this week as it's going to rain so not out much I agree about Sutton On Sea - lovely quiet place! Are you ok? Hopefully having a great weekend?
Went there mid April 2021 for the first time. Quiet, like you say but most enjoyable in the sunny warm weather. Our dogs enjoyed their zoomies on the beach too.
Hello there thank you very enjoyable video good viewing we been there got the tea shirt?, getting on in age so i just go to skegness, got three concerts to go to this year, it's nice to watch your video good memories Take care all the best cheers Robert n Shiela Tyler.
This was truly wonderful. It was a lovely reminder of so many super holidays we have had at Sutton on Sea over the last 40 years.. Our beach hut was one of those you walked past just before you went onto the beach. We clearly were not at the beach hut that day. I can’t believe we missed such a lovely, sunny day, because we try to go to our holiday home in Sutton as often as we can when it’s good weather. I shall watch this again and again over the winter as we look forward to returning to Sutton when the site reopens in Spring. . I should point out when correction you need to make to the captions - the Youth and Community Centre is called The Meridale( not Meredith)..Michael Clarke
Nice video - My team Sutton on Sea Beachcare look after the beach and prom-we are all volunteers. The team was formed by myself and my son 7 years ago - thanks for the nice comment on it being clean and safe.
love the videos having lived in the majority of seaside towns in my lifetime due to our business interest many bring back happy memories especially this one as as a kid in the 70s used to live in mablethorpe and skateboard to sutton and ride there on the seafront regularly. one question I see your link to.the web page that you use for music but who is the band that is on this video please . ps keep on making the vids regards paul

Stayed at mablethorpe passed through here on way to smugness and Gibraltar point, if I had known it was like this I would have stopped here instead, I'm an old fogie 69 and enjoy the peace 😂
Is it near Sutton perish or Ballekerogue? They are in our family history book. There were two brothers who came to Chicago, from somewhere in England or Ireland. After 1611 anyway.

Its a great little place, and Ive been when its been a lot busier, that kids pool is literally packed in the summer. But if you want a bit more then Mablethorpe is a nice walk (2 miles). Or go for the full monty, Skegness isnt that far away, less than an hour on the bus if I remember right.
Something else to add, I have family living there. And one of the criticism are the lack of support for family based things within the council. A lot of these people are retired and will slap down any mention of bringing in anything new, especially things that are family focused. If that makes sense. But saying that, you can still find plenty of things for the kids to do. I managed it lol.
