  • Thought I'd make an intro video and briefly go over why I think 3D Mold Making (in film particularly) is the future.
    Here's the OG nose prosthetic mold made in Zbrush by Michael Defeo:

    your channel deserves more subs than it has, I worked as a propmaker for starwars and marvel and this kind of innovation is fantastic and the big studios would love this man.

      Thanks Connor, Appreciate that ..I should also make more videos lol. Ah cool, yeah I love some of the tricks you see done in props. (I'm mainly Prosthetics)
      Will be interesting to see how different departments adopt 3d printing over time

    You might be interested in a video I did 8 years ago, on my channel were I explored using Z brush to produce a silicone appliance. I out put my mold in CNC because back then 3D printing did not have the smooth surface or fine detail capabilities they do today.

      I’m zbrush user for collectibles and hobbyist, I decide want to make my own mold for my models, so i really need to learn about digital mold making, that four parts molds in the this video look great and really complex to working in zbrush if without someone teaching, hope you also showing how the process soon. Really appreciated, thank you so much. Great work and great channel you did!

    I'm a 3D artist who loves making statues with concrete using 3D printing and 3D molding 🎨! I'm looking for a 3D printer that can make a statue that is 1.8 meters tall 🤯. This video is perfect for me! I can't wait to learn more about 3D printing and 3D molding 👍! I'm also interested in figurative statues mold making projects 🗿.

    • @3DMoldShop
      @3DMoldShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow, that would be a big printer indeed!
      You could print the statue (or the mold of the statue) in several smaller parts.
      I'll be making more videos in the near future about some of these processes.

    I'm doing the same. First time ever. Trying to make a silcone sleeve. I'm trying to figure out stuff like avoiding air pockets and concerns the mold not filling completely. I'm trying to use some samples of rebound 25 at the moment. Will the seem cracks be enough to act as vents.

    • @3DMoldShop
      @3DMoldShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're making a silicone arm sleeve?
      For air pockets just add 2mm air vents using a cylinder and Booleans. Putting air vents (bleeders) at the top of your mold will ensure it fills completely (provided you have enough silicone in the pour tube)
      The seam should ideally be very tight and not allow much silicone to escape, so definitely not a good substitute for bleeders.

    • @omegafire6253
      @omegafire6253 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@3DMoldShop I made a pour spout at the top and on the opposite of it made a hole across to hopefully use as an indication that it filled. The silicone I got gets tacky within 20 min. Hopefully by then there wouldn't be blockades. Maybe I should pour in a large enough batch to consistently let it flow rather then small ones where I mix in between.

      @@3DMoldShop the seems I will add monster clay to seel and leave some small sections as indication of bleed gaps and just patch with clay as I fill along.

    I need some advice. I use zbrush too and I want to make custom roof tiles. I want to 3d print a master copy and use it for mold making to make copies in other materials. Since a roof tile can’t be too light due to wind or too heavy, what material would you suggest I use to make my final roof tile? Not the 3d printed one but the final copy after molding.

    • @3DMoldShop
      @3DMoldShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a cool project! I would use something like mortar/concrete, although it will take overnight until you can take it out of the mold.. good luck!

    Hi do you put mold release on the molds, would silicone come off from pla easy without using any mold release?

    • @3DMoldShop
      @3DMoldShop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Platinum silicone comes off PLA easily, but I do like to apply some Vaseline and/or Jwax anyway.
