In the American context when you hear the term hamlet you think south-east Asia, more specifically Vietnam, but that's interesting its used in a European connotation as well. Thanks!
@@thehistoricalgamerAs an American, I have no idea where you got this misconception from. If I were to ask everyone around me who have heard of the word, none would go for SEA or Vietnam. Like the phrase found in a lot of literature “a lazy hamlet” would conjure up the thought of Europe without fail.
@@thehistoricalgamerI think that would depend on where in America you live. "Hamlet" is a very common term in New York to refer to a community that is large enough to get a name, but not so big as to be an actual village. I think very few people here would think "Vietnam" if they heard the word "Hamlet". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrative_divisions_of_New_York_(state)#Hamlet
@thehistoricalgamer I'm a Texan in my late 30s and hamlet just means "tiny rural village" to me, don't know why you'd associate it with Vietnam in particular.
A 2 pounder is 40mm. It was the British anti-tank weapon early war and was capable against the likes of the Pz.3. As armour increased, the 2 pdr was replaced with the 6 pdr (57mm) and eventually the mighty 17 pdr (77mm).
Finally, a WW2 game in The West. It's usually The Eastern Front or Africa these days. I always prefer The Western Front, and The Pacific, probably because I'm an American.
My brother in Christ... you are kicking yourself by not opening your tank hatches. It will increase visibility/ accuracy by a LOT when you do. Only need to close tank hatches when there is infantry in your immediate vicinity as it will prevent them from popping a grenade in the vehicle.
Why couldn't he have spent 30 minutes playing in skirmish before the video? It would have given him time to figure out the basics while not seeing this map. TLDR; It's really boring watching a content creator fumbling around.
@@thehistoricalgamer Well yes but the difference between the two is large so against tigers you might want some exp! The secret to this game is not dieing!
Well, at least it's Commonwealth forces and the not the US. That's something I guess. I found the lack of inclusion of playable German forces a little disappointing, but maybe we'll see that happen down the line.
kinda dumb imo they describe it as a band of brothers... how is it like bob in any way lol? Are they trying to just say WW2 you know a real life event not an IP...
I believe he was referring to the battle of bloody gulch in episode 4, all the German tanks bearing down on the paras in the treeline- much like how he had set up his infantry
Hamlet is a pretty common term in the UK for a small village, definitely nothing to do with Vietnam (in this context).

I'm not a native English speaker, but to me the use of the term "hamlet" for a small village seems perfectly normal. I am from Europe though.

76.2. The 77mm designation was for the comets gun which used the same round but a different propellant charge to avoid confusion.
I was kinda hoping for a German tank campaign but this British one was better than I expected.
Wehraboos can't stand up to propa bri'ish armour corrrrr blimey
Until the get blasted by a Stug, if this video is anything to go by lol. What a rough first engagement
Great! I watched your entire 1st series a few times. L👀King for more of this series!!🍿🍿

AVRE = Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers (AVRE), also known as Assault Vehicle Royal Engineers.
This really gives me wibes of the early Close Combat games.
Same
Man, Campaign Series with this map would be awesome.
Time to get back to this one!
Game looks interesting but maybe restart with Firefly and jump in Skirmish before like 30min or basic understanding.
looks promising and great

I wonder if there is an auto-select of units when starting a campaign?
Love this game

Agreed.
Hey I get command of the Recon Section, I sure hope the butcher does not live up to his name.
Thank you for your valiant service! ... no comment on your fate.
What you use gets experience so if for example you will need better fireflys later experience early is good!
Unless what you use early gets killed and then you have no experience or firefly’s!

That statement has some Patton to it... the secret to war is not dying, its making the other guy die.
Love the concept of this game but so tired of Normandy.

You can play as the Germans. There's two German campaigns.
@@thehistoricalgamer Oh, my mistake! I guess they must've added those since the beginning of the early access period. Thanks for pointing that out!
Play more
2pdr is a 40mm gun
You are not prepared, go back to basic training.
Some really “fun” games Historical Gamer has tried out lately😂😂😂…. Poor guy.

its british only? nope!
This campaign is British. There’s 2 British campaigns, 2 German campaigns, and then there’s other scenerios with Canadians.
@@thehistoricalgamer Canadians! big time nope.
Not a fan of this episode
Shame, cause this is a pretty good game actually.
@@robinmattheussen2395 might just take some getting used to for me but I’m interested in a series so hopefully he does it
