Yeah, those arms on the side are a sore sight. But he's also pretty big, I like that. The plane mold is really good. I wish we'd get a new version soon. Great review!
I always find it odd why they didn't bother to hide those arms in verhicle mode. Must say his head looks nicely sculptured. I love the recent third party one: MechFansToys MFT MS-27
I know they didn't have all the cool tech to make these figures like we have them today, but I feel like this is one of those figures that someone asked "and how do you hide the arms?", with the reply "hide?".
Ah, that brings me back. This was one of my beloved and well played figures growing up. It makes me wonder when we'll see a new version of him again. The last one I remember seeing was the classics Octone. If it's been that long ago then this poor guy is reeeeeally in desperate need of a new figure. Hopefully they'll make him a leader class so he can get a good figure compared to the ones I mentioned.
when hasbro came out with the triple changers back then. i thought it they were the coolest thing i've ever seen. it was like getting 3 toy's in one. i did have all 3 triple changers back then. the only autobot triple changer i had was springer
I think this is why the Titans Return one as a modern take would had been perfect had they retooled it to remove the Head Master Gimmick and allow him to transform his head normally.
IIRC, Octane's jet mode was supposed to be a Stratotanker, which was actually larger than the space shuttle for good reason. The stratotanker was purpose-built for aerial refueling of military aircraft. So it's size is required to hold all the fuel it needs to haul. In fact, even a standard airline 747 is larger than the space shuttle.
Hey thanks for getting out a ruler/tape measurer & giving us the actual dimensions of the figures instead of just pulling out some random-ass figure that nobody owns to do comparisons with. A lot of other reviewers on here are notorious for doing that. As for the Optimus Prime there, out of all the bootlegs, reissues, re-releases, re-tools, & repaints over the past 41 years, in 2025 there's absolutely no reason why anyone who wants a G1 Optimus Prime mold can't get ahold of some variation of it. Also if you count all the variations of G1 Ultra Magnus that were released that's even more options for you.
Had mine since as a kid. Had all decepticon triple changers since then. I never had any of the autobots. My first autobot was broadside & I found him for $1 missing missiles. The titans return one I like better then the 2008 one. I am predicting in 2026 We will get a new Leader class Octane. Under the name Decepticon Octane. Like how they got slingshot back. IDK why they never did it that way before with slingshot. I think we will get a new Leader class Octane next year I feel it. I am also feeling maybe too a Titan class broadside too But Smaller like be same like star optimus prime, & I am predicting Since combaticons are coming. Onslaught is commander for 2026. & Since the protectobots were in the devastation game. They be in the studio series sub line. Since they are doing that now
@@BertTheStormtrooper Haha, it just means he's a messy collection of bits all shoved together without a proper plan. Like dog food being all the bits of leftover animals after slaughter, all mixed together in a bowl.
Remember getting this for christmas back in the 80s. Still have the figure with box insert and everything....still love the original G1 toys.
