Inside the gourmet food hall across from Galeries Mens is a bakery that has wonderful chocolate bread. My husband makes a beeline for this place every time we're in Paris.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel I don't remember the name, but after you go in the main entrance (on the corner, street level), head to the left near the front of the store, and it's there (if it's still in operation). It's not a large place, and there are usually carts of bread (all kinds) standing behind the main counter. I hope you find it.

I've been watching and rewatching your videos ever since I booked my Paris trip. We just returned home a couple days ago. I was sure I saw you, Antoine, while I was picking up a few souvenirs on the 6th floor.. Now I know it was you! Thank you for all the videos! I'm already planning my next visit!
You guys are amazing. I would NEVER have visited Galeries Lafayette (department store in Paris - why?) --- but now I can't wait. I'm back in Paris in 89 days (who's counting) and this is on my must-do list. Colleen - you crack me up. A dozen striped shirts? That's how I shop. You just made it cool. Thanks for another awesome video! My Saturday treat!
Wonderful tour - great store navigation tips and purchase ideas, all at a fun, upbeat pace. Big thanks for getting me organized and confident to re-visit les Galeries Lafayette !!
Planning to go scouting there after the school holidays and BEFORE the January sales! Youve given me two good ideas. 1) Shop for socks in the men's section (most socks in women's section go to only US 7 1/2,-8 FR 38) 2) START at the top instead of the bottom because I'd be "fresher" in the places where I'd be more likely to buy
M wife adn I went to Paris in December of 2017. We went to Galeries Lafayette and found it amazing. Very beautiful decorations and windows. Paris is wonderful in December.
Thank you so much. Isn't it interesting that Gallerie Lafayette has a recycled items department. I find that impressive. Thank you for showing us. Much appreciated.
Just got back from Paris last week (3 Dec-10 Dec 2022). Thank you for your videos they were useful and we even stayed at your recommendation Le Vert Galant. Their restaurant was outstanding. Park across street to eat in and with public restrooms. Corvisart metro uphill and Gobelins metro downhill. Near both stations are grocers and convivence stores open late. The boulangerie on the way to the Corvisart station (Boulangerie L'Essentiel ) was excellent for breakfast. Nice open air market between the boulangerie and Corvisart metro. I went to Paris because my parents worked in airlines and they always wanted to go to France but instead chose to raise a family. They recently passed on. I made memorial wooden nickels and hid them all around Paris...in churches, museums, the Metro, Christmas markets, and Galerires Lafayette. My dad was carpenter too so I hid some in the Compagnon buildings and bookstores. We found, somehow with a the help of a nice gentleman at the Denfert-Rochereau metro station, a Metro card that works for the week, unlimited rides, in all zones 1-5 which got us to the Chateau Versailles (round trip) and the return trip to CDG airport. I bought it on Monday as recommended. The Metro phone app was very helpful but you have still check maps and other cues. We were at the Arc de Triomphe (pay the 13e and go to the top) and the app wanted me to take three different lines--instead just simply taking the #6 line straight to Corvisart. I concur with using French as much as possible because the effort made was received warmly. I also concur with the comfortable shoes. We averaged 11 miles a day easily. We flew Icelandair which was not expensive at all. We flew to Paris with all our clothes in carry-on and one empty checked bag each. We did all our Christmas shopping in Paris and I stocked my French art du trait books (Compagnon Bookstore near Eglise Saint Gervais by the Seine) and my wine cellar--barely made the luggage weight limits coming home. So worth it. Lastly, absolutely stop, smell roses, be Paris, breath Paris, and just be in Paris. I tossed the itinerary out when we found that open air market and just enjoyed the moment. Turned out that right thing to do that day. Thank you again.
Bonjour Les Frenchies. Another wonderful post. The GL is a fabulous grand department store. I remember back in 2010 visiting it and the hardware section that was located in the basement level. In 18 days I will be “licking the windows” at the GL and other iconic stores. Merci. Josef. Oh and we both have a daughter, Lizzie. A bientôt.
