I don’t believe thats true I think queens last 2 good years and keep a good laying pattern and swarms only happen when the hive has lots of resources and the queen has no we’re To lay she will fell congested and set Of that swarm trigger
It is all depends on where and which part of the country and most of all your main objectives are. Most commercial beekeepers are replace queens annually. Backyard beekeepers are different. But most of all the problem is the drones. Their sperm counts are getting less and less because of Environment and stress and among other things. Go figure..😢
